List 3: Alguacil Posse

This list makes maximum use of the Alguaciles SWC box by deploying them in a link team. However, in a 200 point list you will have to downgrade a few of the models to proxy are non-SWC options.

You will need
Nomads Starter Box
Alguaciles SWC box
Tomcats Box

199 Points | 4 SWC
MOBILE BRIGADA Lieutenant
ALGUACIL HMG
ALGUACIL Sniper
ALGUACIL Missile Launcher
ALGUACIL Combi
ALGUACIL Paramedic
BANDIT Combi
TOMCAT Doc+Zondcat
ZONDCAT
TOMCAT Engineer
ALGUACIL FO

With a 5-man link and an extra member to replace casualties, the Alguaciles take full advantage of their cheapness and the Sectorial link bonuses. Faster than the Wildcats and with longer-ranged weapons, they can take on most threats. The +3 to BS helps when dealing with Camo, and an effective BS14 HMG will tear most things to shreds and few people will want to face either the Multi Sniper Rifle with DA ammo or a Missile Launcher denying cover ARM bonus with its EXP template hit. Forward Observers can also snipe at long range with their Flash Pulse. Paramedics are a fallback medical unit, as the Tomcat Doctor can treat most of the casualties. Like most Light Infantry links, Alguaciles are very good at locking down the board and can be difficult to remove. Keep them spread far enough apart (up to 8” from the Link Leader) and they will stay alive longer.
The Bandit can be proxied with either one of the Tomcats or the Spektr, since his model isn’t currently out. His job is really to sneak around and cause problems in the midfield, laying mines and attacking in Close Combat. Ambushing enemy units, he can grab their weapons if they are Unconscious and turn them on the enemy! A real wildcard. During deployment, and if you don’t get the first turn, he can pretend to be an Intruder by lurking in your Deployment Zone. Players who have tangled with Intruders know to be cautious with them.
Often, the Mobile Brigada has a big target painted on him due to his being the only Heavy Infantry around in a Nomad list. But he can be a valuable jack-of-all-trades, able to move through heavy fire and tackle a variety of threats with his Multi Rifle + Flamethrower combination. I can’t really overstate how useful having AP, Shock, Double Action and Flame ammo all on one unit is. He can take on armoured units, even TAGs, kill off V:Dogged and V:NWI units (an ALEPH favourite), destroy objective pieces with Double Action ammo and pose a bigger threat to units in ARO. Flame, of course, is WONDERFUL against Tohaa (killing Symbiont Armour units instantly) and enemies that depend heavily on Camo. Making him your Lieutenant is risky, but allows you the option of being harder to be put into Loss of Lieutenant, or take risks and be aggressive with the free Lieutenant Order.
The Tomcats are probably Corregidor’s finest unit. Their only real downside is a lack of heavy weapons, but with their toolkit they don’t really need it. Climbing Plus opens up a whole new dimension of tactical possibilities – they can run up a wall to the top of a building instead of going around and taking the stairs. You can hold them off the board for AD:2 and have them walk on, or you can start them on the board and use them as fast-moving support units. Note that they can take Zero-G Terrain instead of AD:2.

Great article! A little confused at why you haven’t gone for a full link with the Wildcats – I always try and take it and find that the +3bs is amazing!

My 2 favourite links so far with them are:
Engineer, N2, Boarding Shotgun and 2x Spitfire
Lieutenant, Engineer, N2, Spitfire and HRL

You use slower link teams by picking the most suitable model to lead the link team each turn, then you leave dangerous models out for ARO (HRL). They can be absolutely brutal!

How nice, I’m looking to start Infinity with a Nomad army!

What about Remotes? They have so many awesome looking drone models. Not good for beginners or just not a fan?

I guess not really proxyable with other models, and thus pretty expensive for a beginning player (and these articles – including the lists presented – are written with a starting player in mind) to field.

Personally, I like my Corregidor REMs, but don’t always field them.

I second Errhile. Remotes are expensive boxed sets. Corregidor’s REMs are totally worth it, though. I like to field them often, and they can be buffed to great heights.
But, it’s a bit of a money sink for starting out. 😉

I play mostly 300 pts games and go either with a 5 Wildcat link if the mission is killy or with my new favorite the 5 + 1 Algua Link (the plus is the hacker, she is not in the link, cause she buffs remotes).

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

The last page with the details of the 300 points list explained my reasoning, but it seems not to have been uploaded. Basically, the 5-man Wildcat link forces you to spend 3.5 SWC if you don’t proxy or duplicate the Spitfire, which constrains your other options. Plus it’s rather risky for a newbie to use. One Chain Rifle can wipe out a poorly placed link and take out half your Order pool, no matter how killy it is. Not to say that I never run it, it’s just not for the beginner in my experience. My personal preference is 5 Alguaciles (possibly including Lupe), and either Valerya or the Alguacil Hacker, with a small Wildcat “troubleshooting team” of an Engineer, Boarding Shotgun and Spitfire, and then whatever else I can afford for heavy weapons on top.

REMs are also a great choice, but then you can also run those in Vanilla with same AVA aside from Lunkhods and even more diversified Hacker support. I did mention substituting Lunokhods for Morans in one of the lists.
