- Iguana is your HMG platform – stick to Cover and mind the range. Iggy is probably going to attract a lot of enemy attention (and firepower), and it isn’t the sturdiest TAG around. On the other hand, if attacked from close disance, she can respond with flamethrower, and carries a Repeater the al’Hawwa can use to hack back. Even if the Iggy is down, the points for its destruction aren’t counted in as long as the Iguana Operator remains in play. And he’s no pushover!
- The Janissaries are there to provide you with sturdy Lt and Specialist (Doctor), as well as make a backbone for a mixed team with the Hafzas.
- Hafzas make the filler for the link, still, they carry a Spitfire and bring in a Forward Observer – another specialist.
- A variant of this list can be made by exchanging the Janissary Lt for a HMG Janissary, and Spitfire Hafza for a Hafza Lt. I didn’t make it a default, as it would not keep up to the WYSIWYG, then again, WYSIWYG isn’t that strictly observed in most Infinity games!
- Djanbazan will be sniping away from a good place again, like in the previous list.
- Odalisque is to provide distraction and light attack unit with good firepower.
- al’Hawwa, apart form the usual shotgun-jumping from camo and hacking heavy targets, is – keep that in mind – your 3rd Specialsit for Objective claiming. Actually, the best one here, I guess, thanks to Camouflage & Infiltration!
Recap
Qapu Khalqi is an extremely flexible Sectorial Army – and one with an unmatched ability to form Link Teams, as far as I know. Mastering the Links is therefore a condition sine qua non.
then again, it has a great choice of troops!
A little downside on the Hafzas – to effectively use their Holoprojector L1, you have to obtain proper stand-in models, which drives the cost up (or gives you an opportunity to purchase and paint more models – depending on how you look at it).

You miss the combination of Qapu Khalqi starter set, and the Kaplan Box. Sure they are a little bit expansive but they can handle most problems by them self. Form a link of them or just use the engineer or the doc and you have really survivable specialists.
Oh, there’s a whole lot of possible combinations in QK that I’ve skipped here. For two reasons, really.
First, these articles are meant as a way to show beginner players some possible list builds. Not to be comprehensive tactical analysis threads that cover all the possibilities.
Second, please note we’re trying to make the list budget-friendly. Especially on the low points level. A Kaplan list like you’ve suggested requires extra box and blister, to add to the 6 models already in the starter box.
If you want to use a Kaplan Link in your basic QK build, well, more power to you. Kaplans are a good unit and I like them too. But they aren’t the one right build possible, fullstop – they are just one of a huge number of possible (and playable!) QK lists 🙂
Two questions about the Holoprojector L1 with the Hafsa.
1) After deployment, when you share open information about your models, you only tell your opponent open information about the model he’s disguised as, correct? For instance, if I disguised the Hafsa as a Jannissary, and the opponent asked what it was, I’d say “Jannissary with HMG.”, right?
2) Do enemy models need to discover the Hafsa before they can shoot at him? Using the above scenario, would it go something like;
Enemy: “Shooting at your Jannissary with HMG.”
Me: “You need to Discover it first!”
Enemy: “You wot mate?”
3) If a model with Holoprojector L1 is killed, do I have to reveal that it was, in fact, a Hafsa or do I simply remove the Jannissary model he was disguised as and let him think he killed a Jannissary?
Thanks!
