Starting with Corregidor

List 2: Wildcat Pack
If you don’t fancy the Jaguars and think you can make the Wildcats work for you, then this is the list to go for. It’s a bit more pricey as you have to get a pair of Morans, which cost more than the regular blisters due to their CrazyKoalas. But, this list gets you the most mileage out of the Alguacil Hacker by laying out plenty of Repeater coverage to snag enemies in ARO and also includes a robust, efficient Link team in the Wildcats.
You will need
Wildcat (Spitfire)
Moran (Combi Rifle)
Moran (Boarding Shotgun)
Orders: 10 Points: 200 SWC: 3.5
WILDCAT N2
WILDCAT Combi
WILDCAT Combi
WILDCAT Spitfire
ALGUACIL Hacker
HELLCAT Paramedic
MORAN Combi / FO
MORAN Boarding Shotgun
INTRUDER Lieutenant
The Morans are the star of this show. If you go first, deploy aggressively forward (you can even risk deploying in your enemy’s table half). If you go second, hang back where the Wildcats and other units can support you. Dangerous, fast enemy units like Heavy Infantry and REMs will have a hard time getting to you, and Crazy Koalas will make it a hazardous approach for any Light Infantry or tough units like V:Dogged warbands. Don’t get the Moran to try and swap shots in ARO, though, as he is very squishy. He is much better on the offense, using the Repeater to shut down enemy HI and finishing them off with the Boarding Shotgun, or just blitzing enemy Link teams with a +3 Bonus from the Targeted status. Even if (when) he goes down, the CrazyKoalas are still a threat. The Forward Observer Moran can also take objectives.
The Wildcats hang back in the Deployment Zone and then move up the board to clear out the middle, using the Morans as umbrellas. With Sixth Sense Level 2 from the 4-man Link, they won’t be so easy to take out with surprise camo attacks. However, the Spitfire is your only heavy weapon so be cautious with the Link. Use D-Charges to finish off enemy heavies that have been crippled by the Hacker.
The Intruder, being the Lieutenant, stays out of the way but deals with enemy camo units that come too close. With the Wildcat Link using most of the Orders, you can still take risks and use the Lieutenant Order to move the Intruder.
The Hellcat is mostly there mostly as a counter-attacker to disrupt the enemy’s Order pool. You can also use her in an emergency capacity to heal important troops such as the Hacker, or as a scenario specialist. Alternatively, give her the Deployable Repeater to extend Hacking zone coverage.
Variants
Buy an HRL Wildcat instead of the Spitfire for long-range punch and use the extra points to switch the N2 Wildcat for an Engineer.
By downgrading a few of the other units, swap one Moran for a Lunokhod Sputnik – although I recommend always running two Morans to support each other
Great article! A little confused at why you haven’t gone for a full link with the Wildcats – I always try and take it and find that the +3bs is amazing!
My 2 favourite links so far with them are:
Engineer, N2, Boarding Shotgun and 2x Spitfire
Lieutenant, Engineer, N2, Spitfire and HRL
You use slower link teams by picking the most suitable model to lead the link team each turn, then you leave dangerous models out for ARO (HRL). They can be absolutely brutal!
How nice, I’m looking to start Infinity with a Nomad army!
What about Remotes? They have so many awesome looking drone models. Not good for beginners or just not a fan?
I guess not really proxyable with other models, and thus pretty expensive for a beginning player (and these articles – including the lists presented – are written with a starting player in mind) to field.
Personally, I like my Corregidor REMs, but don’t always field them.
I second Errhile. Remotes are expensive boxed sets. Corregidor’s REMs are totally worth it, though. I like to field them often, and they can be buffed to great heights.
But, it’s a bit of a money sink for starting out. 😉
I play mostly 300 pts games and go either with a 5 Wildcat link if the mission is killy or with my new favorite the 5 + 1 Algua Link (the plus is the hacker, she is not in the link, cause she buffs remotes).
Thanks for the comments, guys.
The last page with the details of the 300 points list explained my reasoning, but it seems not to have been uploaded. Basically, the 5-man Wildcat link forces you to spend 3.5 SWC if you don’t proxy or duplicate the Spitfire, which constrains your other options. Plus it’s rather risky for a newbie to use. One Chain Rifle can wipe out a poorly placed link and take out half your Order pool, no matter how killy it is. Not to say that I never run it, it’s just not for the beginner in my experience. My personal preference is 5 Alguaciles (possibly including Lupe), and either Valerya or the Alguacil Hacker, with a small Wildcat “troubleshooting team” of an Engineer, Boarding Shotgun and Spitfire, and then whatever else I can afford for heavy weapons on top.
REMs are also a great choice, but then you can also run those in Vanilla with same AVA aside from Lunkhods and even more diversified Hacker support. I did mention substituting Lunokhods for Morans in one of the lists.
