Starting with Aleph
List#2: Vedic
This list will focus mainly on the Vedic units and the endurance of the Deva Operatives The thing with Devas is they are a bit of a toolbox unit. But almost all their profiles carry the standard Combi Rifle. You probably use them for their tools more than their firepower.
What do you need?

The List:
Deva Functionary (Hacker)
Naga (Minelayer)
Dakini (combi rifle)
Dakini (combi rifle)
Dakini (combi rifle)
Deva Functionary (Spitfire +MSV)
Deva Functionary + Devabot
Deva Functionary (Sensor)
Ekdromoi (Chain Rifle)

This list brings a lot of Devas, a couple of Dakini remotes, and only one Homeric unit; the Ekdromos.
Devas come in a variety of flavours. This list shows them all.
The Deva Hacker is one of the better hackers in the game, due to its very high Willpower. Rolling on a 15, you have about three quarter chance of succeeding. The Deva sports a Regular Hacking Device, so she can upgrade the Dakini (but only one at a time, as the Device can not run more than one support software program). A Dakini that ignores cover (Marksmanship Lv2) or can fire +1 burst in the reactive turn (kinda like Total Reaction) is fearsome.
The Hacking Device can also be used to hack-attack Heavy infantry of your enemy, targetting them (+3 to every BS attack that is aimed at them) or immobilizing them for one turn.
It can also be used to give a +3 mod to the Ekdromos, making the change he’ll scatter a bit smaller. And believe, pinpoint dropping an Ekdromos can lead to great results.
The Deva with Spitfire has augmented eyes that work like a Multi Spectral Visor Lv2. This allows him to shoot through smoke without negative MODs and he ignores all the negative MODs that are applied on Camo discovery and things like ODD. This is a great and lethal camo-killer. The Spitfire is a lethal weapon, high burst, with medium ranged damage
The Deva with Sensor is another Camo-revealer as Sensor grants a Zone of Control discovery ability. It also brings into play Triangulated Fire, which allows you to shoot at models while ignoring all the modifiers (range, camouflage, cover). Even with a combi rifle, you can still have a good shot due to this ability. Not bad.
The Deva + Devabot is a great Lieutenant option. This Deva brings his own G:Synced Remote, that protects the Deva with a Heavy Flamethrower. It has to remain in the ZoC of its controller, so it’s a great way to give your lieutenant some back-cover.
The Naga Minelayer is a nice way to drop extra camo-tokens on the table, one of them a mine, the other an Infiltrator with Boarding Shotgun. You can drop 2 more mines for board control, making it very difficult for your opponent to advance.
The Ekdromos is perhaps the most fearsome unit in the list. An AD combat jump soldier with Superjump and Martial Arts Lv3 and a direct template weapon; he’s a real killer that can surprise your opponent, attacking them from the back, the flanks or above due to Superjump. The Superjump skill makes the Ekdromos very mobile, and with Martial Arts Lv3, he can easily kill anny unit in Close Combat with his Double Action CC-weapon. Combined with the Deva hacker, you can put a +3 on his PH roll, if you really want a better chance to pintpoint the model on a certain location.

Nice article but “Artificial AI”? 😛
Yep, apparently I did.. 😀 haha!
Nice write-up, Scorch! You’ve got me all excited about starting up Aleph as my first faction! 🙂
I want to run mostly Hackers, Engineers and REMs (Dakini, Garuda, Yudbot, Daleth & Zayin) tho, and work the E/W side of the faction.
I don’t know how much Hacking is actually used in-game, tho. For instance, @ 300pts, are 2-3 Hackers viable to allow multiple support programs to be run at the same time on the various REMs? Or are those upgrades not really as good as say, dropping a Hacker and getting an HMG Ekdromoi 😉 Or, an Infiltrator or something?
Also, I was thinking of taking 2 Sophotects (w a Yudbot each), mainly to support the REMs. Do you think that’s too much redundancy?
Only played a couple of the Operation Icestorm missions so far, but I’m really loving the game, and want to get into it 🙂
Thanks!
Remember you have only 10 slots per Combat Group. 3 Hackers + 2 Sophotects – and you’ve filled 5 of these already.
Personally, I’d cap at 2 Hackers and 1 Doctor / Engineer, but then I’m not an Aleph player. So, whatever works for you 🙂
I’d suggest to run various variants of the list you’ve enivisioned with proxies a handful of times – for test purposes. You’ll find out by yoursefl whether this style suits you, or not – and there’s little point in wasting your cash for models that yuo will find redundant after a handful of playtests.
That’s a very good point – I should just calm down, and run a few games to get the feel of some of the units before committing cash to them. I haven’t even played with the hacking rules yet, so I’m probably getting a little ahead of myself!
Thanks!
No truer words had ever been written…
As a new player looking to get into aleph you mention different sectorals but looking at the army they only list steel phalanx. Is this article out of date now?
Not totally out of date, but ALEPH has some new toys to play with
