A Look at Warsenal

Warsenal. In the United States they are almost a synonym to the game within the Infinity community. MayaCast records in Warsenal Studio B, and during GenCon 2014, they raised the stakes of the tournament by adding ‘Interplanetary Attendee’ to the price support, and.. not the least, they provide the American community with mesmerizing terrain and great, well-designed accessories for the game. You can see some of their amazing tables on the GenCon threads over at the official forums! 😉

During the last Black Friday Warsenal offered a cool Black Friday action: Free Shipping Worldwide.

I am in Europe (The Netherlands to be precise) and Warsenal isn’t easy to come by locally. Shipping overseas (even from the UK) doesn’t beat some of the cheaper/easier options just around the corner. Needless to say, I wouldn’t let an offer like this pass, even if my money was low for the upcoming holiday months! Since Warsenal were the first to show updates on the N3 accessories like Silhouettes and tokens, I decided to grab me a couple Silhouettes and ordered some other things I’ve been eyeing for a long time.

Silhouettes

Warsenal were the first to show their Silhouettes for N3. This was a little bit too early for CB’s taste, so they got retracted from the webshop pretty soon. Luckily we still had the pictures! 😉

Those pictures really struck me! The crisp acrylic looked great, the price was good and the print on the Silhouettes (of little silhouettes of units) was awesome. The grid added the extra ‘sci-fi’ to it, to finish it all off!

I had a hard time choosing the colour, as they have a lot of options, and all look really good! Eventually I settled with purple, as I figured that was the easiest colour to spot. It’s not often that you see a deep purple on the table, right? 😉

Assembly

This is actually a story about Warsenal’s great Customer’s service

Warsenal’s initial batch of Silhouettes had some problems with the measurements of thickness of acrylic and the size of the slots to fit them in. Not everyone encountered these issues, but unfortunately I did. To cut to the case; even after much filing the bases of the Silhouettes snapped in two when you fitted the Silhouettes in. Warsenal was quickly aware of this issue and asked everyone that had received the faulty product to contact them.

So I did. Their reply was fast and they sent me a replacement real quick! And even added a little note to the order, apologizing for the troubles (no need for that, guys! 😉 Awesome service!). What can I say? Great customer service, even for those on the other side of the world!

The replacement was easy to put together, and with just a little bit of glue I managed to get the Silhouettes ready for use. Please be careful when you apply the glue, as it tends to ‘frost’ on the acrylic. Use only a little bit.

Also, I’d advice you to keep the ‘paper’ backside of the acrylic attached to it. Do not peel it off! Since the mid-section of the Silhouette is black acrylic, it tends to tone down the brightness of the acrylics on the outside. That’s a shame, as the Silhouettes have some good, bright colours!

Recap

Warsenal’s Silhouettes are a great and affordable resource for the N3 system. They have already seen some use during our Dutch Tournament, where they were used to make sure an Iguana was hidden behind the buildings and on a couple of smaller S2 units. Since I was the only one who brought this beautiful product, many asked to borrow one for a moment to determine LoS. Great!

The design is crisp, colourful and the print really gives them the ‘cyberpunky feel’ that fits well within the game. A definite ‘yes!’ from me!

Ready for the Maghariba Guard

A little update: Warsenal released a new template this week, for the S8 sized Maghariba Guard. Let’s hope that resculpt is around the corner!

Nanoscreens

Oh, I have been eyeing these since I got into the game. Little ‘hexagonal’ clouds on a base. Since I have a spare Hasht laying around here, I hope to one day run him together with some Gwailos for nice Shasvastii shenanigans. In order to run them without trouble, you’ll need to bring something that represents a nano-screen. What better than those lovely little Nanoscreens from Warsenal?

The picture shows the 3D looking hexa-grid. Lovely!

For the new players among us: Nanoscreens are little shields that are placed in base-to-base contact with the unit that has the ability, and grants them partial cover at all time from the side the shield is located towards. Advancing forward? Place the shield towards the opponent and they have to flank you to get you out of cover.

Warsenal’s Nanoscreens fulfill this role perfectly. As if they were designed for it, haha! 😉 The hexagons are lasered into the acrylic, from both sides, which gives a great 3D effect in the screen. The base is small, so can be placed with ease in base-to-base contact with the unit that uses the Nanoscreen.

Assembly

Assembly was easy; just add a bit of glue (not too much! these too tend to frost if you put too much on them) and put the screen in the slot in the base. Bob’s your uncle.

Recap

Lucky me! The week these got in, CB announced the coming of the Rasail Boarding units. Their fluff already mentioned some Nano-tech abilities, and I was hoping for the Nanoscreens. When the profiles got released they were there! 😀 I’m going to use these whenever I run a Rasail unit, which will be a lot!

Smoke Templates

Colourful smoke! Very bright acrylics is definitely Warsenal’s thing!

This product probably mesmerized me the most. I got these as a tip from one of the guys over at the WGC Infinity Group (on Facebook, seriously check them out!). What are these smoke templates, you ask? Warsenal designed small templates, complete with the 10 pointed star pattern for scattering purposes and such.. but a LOT smaller. Why would you want that?!

Well, that’s easy! Some armies can lay down a lot of smoke in one turn. Smaller templates allow you to just lay them on the table, as a reminder or a token, and when you need to check the area of effect, you just hoover the large 12 inch template above the token. No need to buy multiple large circular templates. The smaller size makes sure there is always room for a smoke template on the table. 😉

This nifty playability that these smaller templates grant you was enough reason for me to buy two sets of them in two colours; one for my own army, and one for my opponent when they didn’t have those smaller templates. It keeps my games much more tidy than before! 😉

Recap

I love it when you can see people put thought in their product. This is one of these things; an easy solution, with great effect. Exactly what is needed for Infinity. To make it all a bit more clear; why haven’t you bought those before?! 😉

Little Recap on Warsenal

Like I said before; Warsenal isn’t easy to come by around here. This Black Friday offer allowed me to get a taste of their products. I must say I have developed an appetite. Great products, every one of them. And the one thing that wasn’t going as planned was quickly solved by the great customer service of Warsenal. Top notch company, top notch products.

For all those on the ‘other side of the pond’, that are in a similar situation like myself, keep an eye out on Warsenal’s channels. They have lots of great offers and if you keep attention you too can grab some of their products without going deep for the international shipping. It’s highly recommended! Otherwise… bring yourself an empty suitcase when you go to the States.

I’ve been a huge supporter of Warsenal for over a year now, I have about everything from their range except for the buildings, but simple because I already had started with someone else!
The magnetic markers are simply amazing, I have a metal sheet of counter and they fit on bot side of it, no more search for the right marker because they’re upside down in the case… The ITS accessories are also some of the best I’ve seen on the web. Containers wise, omg…the have small passerelle, they have walls for them too and the stack up to the roof! swapping doors, name it they have it… A must for any Infinity player.

I hold off on the markers for the same reason as you have for the terrain. 😉 I’m already heavily invested in someone else’s and apparently OCD enough about it that it would bother me personally to mix them up. I’ll keep it in mind and ask one of our American based bloggers to look into the markers.
Terrain would become too costly for me, mainly due to customs around here (everything above 25euros gets a 50% fine, or something like that.. 🙁 )

Do remember that Warsenal now sells Antenocitis Workshop products in the US so hopefully the favor will be returned and it will be easier for the European guys to get suff.

warmill in the UK have some comparable, awesome stuff

I bought the same silouettes and while I like them overall, I was dissapointed with how loose the acrylic fit together. Since I was gluing with white glue, the full dry time is very long meaning unless you prop them up straight the entire time they dry a bit crooked, like mine did. Not earth shattering but not the quality I expect for the price.
