The Polish Invasion of Data Sphere
Last week you might have noticed the “new posts” section of the Board Index has been filled with strange-looking topic titles. We’ve even had reports of “spambots” posting in “gibberish”… 😉
Do not worry, we’re taking care about it. It ain’t a virus. Nor a spambot. Nor, in fact, posting in “gibberish”…
See, the DataSphere has been invaded by Poles… oh well, in fact, they’ve asked politely if they could move in, and we’ve agreed. The result? The bulk of Polish Infinity community decided to give up on the forum they’ve been using previously, and from now on, be on DataSphere!
It was a brilliant idea from Alkasyn, the WarCor from Warsaw, long-time DataSphere blogger, and one of the major moving spirits in all matters Infinity in Poland.
They got their own section of the European regional forum, and are already happily chatting in Polish there – there’s so much traffic in the forum that some of our long-standing Polish members can hardly believe their eyes!
Alkasyn, as Section Moderator, keeps watch over that part of the forum, so it will stay nice and friendly.
The only thing left to do was making sure their posts won’t overflood the “New posts” section. But rest assured – while it took our Interventors a while to solve that case, we’ve managed to close the section off.
As of now, we’re curious whether other communities would like to have a section of DataSphere to call their own. Spread the word – if your community wants to migrate here, you are welcome. We have the space, we have the bandwidth – Data Sphere was, after all, equipped to take care of the users of the Official Infinity Forum that was planned to shut down in summer last year – and we’d be more than happy to have you with us!
Following the Polish community, we’ve also set up a section for the Dutch community. If you want to have a place for your own community, shoot us a message!
“Sure, sounds cool, but how does it work?”
Data Sphere sets up a new part of the forum for you, and we discuss what kind of topics you wish to bring to the forum.
All we need is a volunteer fluent in the native language of the group to act as an overseer/moderator. We do not speak every language in the world. 😉
After setting up the forum, we close the section off. We do this to prevent foreign topics to show up in the newsfeed of every member on our forum. You have to set these settings once, for as long as you’re a member of our forums.
Permission to access the hidden forum will be granted to a group that you can subscribe to all by yourself (no moderators or admins needed). We write you a manual (Polish/Dutch can be found here) for new members.
The section will still be viewable by guests (non-registered visitors/not logged in members), in order for you to promote the forum to fellow Infinity players in your area. You can link them the forum, and they can see if they want to join. If they like what they see, they can register + subscribe to the right group in order to start posting in their community!

The Dutch Community’s Sub-section

So we’re ‘bots’ now? 😛
Polebots
Thanks for the shoutout. Now we got to grow the community and make sure that this becomes Nr1 forum for the game in Poland 🙂
Can’t do any worse than the Antipodes mate.
*dust settles on a very empty Australian Subforum*
Sigh …. stupid face book takes all the traffic out of here. 🙁
Yeah, that’s a bit of a shame. 🙁 The Australian Facebook is going pretty strong, from what I see and is a great success.. Maybe you can promote us some more? 😉 haha!
Kidding, our data shows we have plenty of Aussie readers donw under.
I try man I try but people are soooooooooooooooo lazy with their smart devices these days.
So am I, but I installed Tapatalk! On my smart device! 😉
Personally I think facebook is OK, but the way it shows posts makes it an unreliable medium to transmit information over large periods of time.
