Terrakami’s MKII Passenger Train
Terrakami continues to shine with their trains. A while ago, Terrakami provided Data Sphere with one of their Passenger Trains. It took a while to get build (real life sometimes get in the way of hobby life, we all know how that goes) but finally, we’ve managed to get it done! š Just in time for the Dutch Tournament, where it took a prominentĀ place across to tables. Today we’re going to take a more detailed look at the product!
The Passenger Train is basically the MKII, combined with the Passenger Wagons instead of container platforms. The MKII’s tractors are designed with the Passenger Wagons in mind, which can be seen looking at the lines of both vehicles. The flow over into each other, creating a somewhat aerodynamic look. the designĀ remind me of the TGV; the high-speed train that runs between France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The Passenger Wagons are more designed like a metro, with low entrances and big doors allowing many people to enter and leave the wagons. Small benches on the side of the wagon, allowing people to sit on the sides, and stand in the middle. This definitely is a commuter-train, allowing a great many people to travel across the large cities on NeoTerra or the Yu Jingian twin planets.
Assembly
Assembly was remarkably easy. It’s nothing more than sliding some panels in place, and pressing some other panels on their pins. This makes the design very sturdy, even before you applyĀ any glue onto it. Terrakami provided a clear assembly guide with each product that was really easy to follow.
Most parts of the wagons are long slides of MDF, and every side is the same, so finish one, you finish them all!
Applying a bit of glue is definitely advisedĀ if you’re planning to transport the train a lot. The train can take a beating as the design is very solid, but some of the panels might come loose if you don’t glue them in place. Nothing serious, but worth mentioning!
To be clear, my train is still unglued, as I am planning to paint it up nicely. We transported it and used it during our Dutch tournament and it came out great.
Playability
The wagons are amazingly well thought-out. You won’t encounter any problems during the game. The roofs come off with ease allowing both players to play around inside the wagons. Inside, there is no clutter that can obstruct your models to move around.
I decided to leave the acrylics unglued. With the new N3 rules on terrain, demolishing the train’s windows to create more fire lanes can greatly enhance your games. Now I can take them out of the train if needed. The train is designed in such a way that they stay in place without glue if you put the train on the table, so a big plus for that! No parts coming loose during play.
The wagons have doors, so we say you can enter the train byĀ opening a door. You can walk from wagon to wagon, as they all have doors on both ends of the wagon. This way you can go inside and run towards the other end without any trouble. This might come in handy if you need to cover a distance without too many AROs. š
Overall
Terrakami made sure the Passenger train becameĀ a beautiful designed product. Each wagon comes with a set of acrylic windows, that really make this train one of the nicestĀ products I’ve ever seen. Together with the little benches inside, Terrakami shows their eye for detail. With the removable roofs and wide spaced wagons, they show their eye playability. These two combined are all we need for a nice game of Infinity! š
During the Dutch tournament the train received lots and lots of positive reactions and many were impressed by the detailed design and the playability of the train.
I personally think Terrakami hit the spot with this train. We first encountered the Mag-Lev train in Paradiso. It was meantĀ to be an industrial train, designed for containers. Now, Terrakami bringsĀ another take on the train and released the Passenger train. I can see this greatly enhance the playability of the train on the tables. Especially the city tables can now feature a more city-like train, instead of the more sturdy and rougher MKI Industrial design.
In my personal perspective, the range of Infinity terrain was missing a train that was designed for the urban tables. Terrakami fills that place with their amazing MKII Passenger Train.
Little Hobby-tip: The Walkways of Micro Art Studio and Systema make for a nice elevated rail trackĀ for the train. If you like to make it your center piece of the table, without cutting the play area in half with the train, put it on elevated tracks. Everybody will be amazed how good it looks! š

This has pretty good potential for the Infinity RPG too. I can think of pretty cool scenarios for players… Murder on The Yu Jing Express anyone?
I like the way your mind works!
I love the Terrakami train design. I have one of their MKii cargo trains, but I so want the passenger variant as well.
Mine just arrived the other day and it is a stunning kit! Unlike the reviewers kit I had to do a lot of trimming of the sections of the kit to make sure it all fit together properly, just make sure and test fit your pieces as my first engine was a real nightmare to get right after I just started trying to force pieces into place!
An amaIng kit and I will be buying another one (I got the two cargo/two passenger carriage) variant so I can have different fits!
Hm, that is indeed a different experience from mine. I found the engines a real blast to put together.
But I agree.. Testfit first. I have had problems with many kits when I started to glue immediately. š
Yeah I got far too excited when the kit arrived! It sees action on the table for the first time tomorrow, very excited!
