I'm back from the Spiel where I had two really great days with the Laughing Jacks and Jackies.

The Cosplay is finished, but I like to show you the detail shot of the bag anyway:

Didn't get to see Gogo but the Tohaa came together very nicely and it was good to meet you at Spiel :)

I really do like that rifle! It's a shame I'm not that talented. The best I can do is ask someone else to laser cut me a sword and clump a bunch of plastic and foam around one end of it.

Is it possible you could film a short bit of your creating a ballistic weapon like that and post it? I'm not exactly sure how you used the tools you had and the type of material you're working with.

I can only assume that she used a similar process (seemingly less layering and using different parts) as is shown in this nice tutorial. This guy has a bunch of cool tutorials. But there cannot be too many tutorials, so I'd too would be happy to see more insights in the Yashia method.

Different material. That pistol is flexible foam (EVA most probably) while Styrodur is XPS, what in other places goes as Pink or Blue Foam. And the guy is lucky enough to have a scroll saw... well, a full workshop. Not that carving with knife and minidrill is much different with XPS vs EVA, just that some glues and paints will eat it fast, and it will be rigid.

Oh yeah! I've seen that tutorial!

Hmm... I wonder how easy it'd be to make a Yu Jing Spitfire...

If it was me, I'd take a copy of the spitfire from this:

http://www.beastsofwar.com/wp-content/u ... ldiers.jpg

blow it up to full size. Use the rigid foam for the base layer and EVA foam for the detail layer. That would be easier to get the two flat surfaces than to try to carve down.

If I made a spitfire, it'd be a "build-up" process. The helical magazine would require a bit of more gumption, though.

Though having that template... Hmmm...

Damnit. I didn't want to make a cosplay this year. Perhaps that Aragoto Spitfire is closer than I had originally intended.

Helical where? Just a chopped cone with some external blocks.

This pic http://chaosorc.com/images/280377.jpg makes it look like the magazine is basically boxes on a fez.

Bullshit!
Your foam-armor was way better than I could ever do and that sword was übercool! So don't say such ridiculous things!

For the video: I could do that for sure, only problem is time. Until when would you need it? I don't have any project so soon, because I'll be pretty busy the rest of the year, so I don't know how soon I'd get to do it.

I like the Marlene more than Kumotail, but both are pieces of outstanding work :D

That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand

Hahaha! Oh, you joker!

Though, the kind words are much appreciated!

The Kumotail is rather convincing. Definitely that eerie middle ground of "alien" and "human" that CB seems so fond of. The face paint on this one seems more convincing to me than the paint for the Oznat. Did you learn a lot from the Oznat project? Though, that Combi-Rifle looks a little too thick...
