When trying to use a PNG it fails with "The extension png is not allowed."
It would be nice to be able to use them, for some things they are smaller, and for others the color precision matters.

OK, this is becoming silly, because with JPG it says "The extension jpg is not allowed." Both while trying to attach to a PM, in case that matters.

It might just be a PM thing? I haven't had much issue using those file extensions in a regular post.

Attachments were disabled in Private Messages. This is because with PMs, they can easily be used for abuse against individual people without moderator action, simply because a user has to actually report the PM before a moderator would see it. This could mean sending attachments that contain unwanted or illegal material.
I've enabled image attachments in private messages until such time as it becomes an issue. Please use responsibly and do report anyone abusing this feature.
