4-4 move on the hi.
That might change a lot of things if that is rolled out to everyone.

Also these are the new starters less the exclusives apparently.

Humans are silhouette 2.

Must mean Koalas and Servants are probably 1.

TAGs will probably be3.

Wonder if something like the Maghariba will be a 4.

Of course, all of them. They don't want to get a bad mark in their file, all females must wear wedge heel boots or face court-martial. Bodyguards have it clearly specified in their contract too.

This is Infinity!

Checking the video faaaaaaaaaaast and muted (smurfs? no, thanks):
- two brown boxes, just like starters
- mat is folded paper poster
- 6 containers are small boxes, like those for pills packs or toothpaste
- 4 buildings remind me of Dropzone Commander, starter boxes can be used to reinforce them
- lots of zip bags, many parts and packaging codes, tiny parts
- using non finished or worse than normal painting model for the review ("lovely" NMM falling apart, as the matte black stockings... calling Savo, varnish to aisle I:O, varnish to I:O)
- cut out orders and some templates

Starter yes... but no easy miniatures, pretty much like any other in range. The rules can be an introduction, the models are the full deal.

Makes sense, and what makes you think that shenanigans like that don't happen in fashion today?

We have not reached the rifle and ML level. Yet.

S3 could be small TAGs and super humans (40mm base), S4 all other TAGs (55mm). And then four legged remotes and bikes. Or maybe these two share the same. And then Maghariba.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

If I were to guess 3 is Sphonx/Gecko/Cameronian size and 4 is a typical TAG.

Oh, and have we seen the CSU up close yet?

I wonder how the silhouette system will work something like a remote 40mm vs Ajax 40mm. Wildly different model heights but same base.

Easy, they don't use the same template (wild guess, but that's what I would do). Remember new profiles are said to have width and height info.

Ok... back to watching...

EDIT 1: DAYUM. The new alguaciles are awesome. I'm kind of glad I never ended up with any of the old ones.

EDIT 2: I really like the spektr.

EDIT 3: "We are going to reveal something very very special." It's the grenzer. Isn't it? Tell me things about the grenzer. TELL ME THINGS!!!

EDIT 3A: "This guy [the grenzer] has MSV1, which in third edition is a little better than in second edition" (!!!!!)

EDIT 4: The reverend healer will "probably" be able to make fireteams with the revereand moiras. Interesting. Are we going to see more flexible fireteam rules in general, with different profiles being able to link up when they are somehow related?

EDIT 5: The CSU is a mercenary. She's a "super bodyguard." Also, she's a sexy, sexy model. I'm very happy that I got my preorder in on Wednesday.

TELL ME ALL ABOUT THE GRENZER.

(I wasn't interested in this whole box until I saw the bloody Grenzer. Now I am convinced that I should play Tunguska.)

Ask nicely. And turn off the caps lock.

He's a sniper. He has MSV1. But according to Bostria, the Mobile Brigada is the Diva of the box.

And you should play Tunguska.

Again, I'm jealous of people who are going to start playing this game with this battle box.

The one thing that grab my attention (not sure anyone mentioned it before me) is that the scenery will be sold as a separate product later on. Carlos says that 3 kits will be enough to fill a table. That's certainly something store owners, and tournament organizers will be happy about. I am !

Damnit. It looks like the circular template did get a total redesign. Same shape and size, so I can still use my old templates to mark smoke and such, but the scatter now works very differently.

And the lieutenant special order is now represented by a special token... interesting.

And there's the whole silhouette system, which really is just a play aid for how everyone has been playing anyway.

Re: Operation Icestorm

by ElectricPaladin » July 26th, 2014, 6:34 am

I've been thinking about the grenzer, and I have a couple of guesses.

The first is that we have been seeing a bit of a linkable Medium Infantry revolution since Paradiso, with the release of the Neoterra bolts and the wildcats. These units seem designed to be durable, aggressive generalists with a wide variety of close range and long range weapons options (ie. the bolts can take missile launcher, sniper rifle, and spitfire; the wildcats have rocket launchers, spitfires, and boarding shotguns) as well as a lieutenant and specialist skill/gear options. In both cases, the units have some kind of special flair to make them more than just more expensive slightly tougher LI: bioimmunity for the bolts and high BTS, V: Courage, and Multiterrain for the wildcats.

So, option number one is that the grenzer is the equivalent for Tunguska. The model seems to reflect this, as the armored boots and torso look similar to the wildcats. Their "trick" is MSV1. They are probably also linkable, have a spitfire option and either a second close or mid-range weapon or a second long range weapon, can be hackers and either doctors, paramedics, or engineers, as well as having a lieutenant option.

The other possibility is that grenzers are light infantry. It's worth noting that the old Nomads starter box had three alguaciles and a securitate. The securitate filled the role of "elite LI" with special gear and skills, while the alguaciles were order-monkeys. The new box replaces the securitate with a grenzer. Perhaps the securitate will be getting a new profile that knocks them down a peg or two (as well as a price cut) so that they can fulfill the role of Tunguska's basic light infantry, while the grenzers, with their MSV1 (which is, remember, better in 3rd edition than it was in 2nd) take over the roll of "elite, specialized" LI.

Only semi-relatedly, I am now seeing how vanilla Nomads will be able to give a lot of other factions a hard time. With MSV1 grenzers and riot grrls, MSV2 intruders, and their own smoke grenades, vanilla Nomads will be able to both play the smoke trick and make it hard for anyone else to pull it off, with several units who seem able to pull their own weigh.

Yes there are. Does that change the validity of speculation that the buffed movement values revealed yesterday might signify a change across the board to help units being overlooked due to 4-2?

My question is if standard HI get an across the board bump in move, how will this affect light power armored troopers, who currently trade off armor for speed? Will they receive a simple points reduction? Get bumped up to move 6-4? Highly unlikely I know but man does the idea make me giggle like a school girl!

First things first: I think CB did an amazing job with this starter box. It really raises the bar for comparable products.

The very few things I'm not happy with ... I need new templates? Boo! ... Paper-mat? Meh, but it looks nice, and I'll get the MAS mat anyway. ... The recoil from the "stealthgun" will break the CSUs hand if fired in that pose.

Minor nitpicks really, apart from the need for new templates. I'm really looking forward to getting this box. After a break from Infinity of over two years this is the perfect way for me to get back into the rules in a well structured manner. And the models are just gorgeous.

Now I only have to wait until Sptember. :(

Grenzer is medium infantry. Look at almost all the boxes. 3 light infantry, 1 medium infantry, 1 heavy infantry, and then usually one skirmisher or AD unit. He has MSV1,(speculation follows) will move 4-2, probably have ARM2, Zero-Gee multiterrain (sweet? maybe yes.) he may also have mimetism (most likely) or something like this new bio-immunity. Although, perhaps we get a curveball and he has marksmanship. That would be nasty. he will have a second skill for sure.

Carlos says you need only three sets to make a table, but if you look at how open a table Carlos thinks is good, you probably need four or five.

As for needing new templates, the template hasn't changed, they just put all 20 numbers on it. Scattering a 1 or an 11 is still going to be the same.

I don't relish needing to buy silhouettes, but I bet Customeeple and Warsenal will be making pretty awesome looking ones. CB should have already provided them with the info so they can be out by Gencon when people have Icestorm, but this is CB we're talking about so I doubt that will happen.

It's looking like retreat and/or LoL will make everyone irregular now instead of impetuous/killing all your orders.
