So i was trying to make a list with the new Spetsnaz and Scout models, and then filled in the rest using models i already own, how does this list look?

I'd say it looks fun; has a lot of nasty tricks. Kudos on getting it at 300 pts; I'd want some Chasseur Minelayers, but this looks like a pretty fun list for specialist missions.

Yeah I went with the FO for specialists instead of minelayers. But yeah I'm looking forward to playing this list. I know Scouts aren't meant to be that good but I love the new model so I'm gonna do it. And I've just realised how much camo there is in this list, 8(?) camo markers to start!

Oh one thing on the Infinity forum someone said the Moblot LT was an 'unnecessary handicap' is he really that bad..?

A lot of people don't like the moblots or minutemen(very similar); one reason is because there are so many more stellar choices, usually camo'd, choices for LT. Then again, trust but verify; if you want to try out your Moblot LT, see if you like him! If you like how he plays, keep him; worst that can happen is you don't feel him, and choose someone else.

Okay I'll give him a go then :) is the Moblot okay just as a unit? I could still run him and just make something else LT.

On paper a Moblot doesn't seem particularly bad, especially not with so many load outs; but he doesn't really stand out, either. There are just what I consider down right more useful models; for example, Tank Hunter with AP Rifle/ADHL/D Charges/Camo for 0 SWC and a point less than the cheapest Moblot load out.

Okay well I think I'll try the Moblot, and if it doesn't really work try another Tankhunter. I could make the Mormaer the LT though, would that be better?

Mormaers rock socks but I'm always reminded that Vet Kazaks do it cheaper. Still, they have one of the coolest models in the game and I don't think I could resist fielding them when I finally seriously build up my Ariadna forces.

Yeah I bought the Mormaer HMG because he's one of my favourite models so I'm gonna bloody use him ;)

I've been experimenting with Scout or Bruant as Lt options, they are similar in point costs, and allow for a camo'd LT to hide out until 3rd turn when LoL won't matter.

That list looks pretty cool :) however the one I made was because I was using the models I already own so for now I'll be sticking to that but when I get some more models I might give it a go

Hey chaos11! I've been lurking around your post on the original forums, but never said anything because I'm not really that experienced. I think I have a few nuggets of wisdom to help you out with your list:

1) As many people have said, Moblots really aren't that good comparatively, but they are definitely still a nice unit to field; sturdy, resilient (for Ariadna) and reliable. Maybe not the best points expenditure, but I still say try it out and see where it goes for you.

However, one thing to note is that they have a kind of low WIP compared to most Ariadna troops which can make them pretty obvious as a Lt and he doesn't really have anything to help keep him alive (Sixth sense, flamer, 2 wounds, No wound incapacitation, etc.), so it might be better to elect a different Lt.

2) Okay, so the Lt. is a bit of a toss up right now. Let me throw some ideas your way and see what you think; Scots Guard (a little more than what you're spending, but you comes with a handy AP Marksmen rifle to engage at a longer range than the Moblot Lt. to keep him safe AND he has an average WIP to keep him hidden in that regard), Caledonian Mormaer with HMG (terrific fighter, average WIP, high resilient, but already a strong enough threat for your opponent to want to kill without even knowing it's your Lt. Makes for a great fighter if you implement the Lt. order as well, kind of sluggish, but can get stuff done easily, just be ready for Loss of Lt.) and lastly you could consider the Scout (swap out the AP sniper rifle, I'm sure you could proxy this, for the less powerful Ojotnik, same SWC, but you have more points to spend. He can easily hide under the excessive amount of camo you have and infiltrate into a good spot to keep him safe, but he will be an obvious Lt. choice if your opponent knows anything about Ariadna with his 14 WIP. Nice trade off though, easily revealed Lt. not the easiest to kill due to camo and you get a slight initiative advantage).



There you go, a few little considerations for you to work with, but hey what you have should be pretty fun and potent already. Good luck for whenever you try this list out and do Ariadna proud!

Thanks for the suggestions :) of those choices I think I'd rather go with the Mormaer Lt, mostly because I just bought the 2 SMG Scots Guard from Shae Konnet on dakkadakka ;) although I could try proxying the scout too. Another idea I had was to proxy the Moblot as a Veteran Kazak Lt, and then the list looked like:

Moblots: Really cool models with average rules. Still they are what's pulling me towards MRRF...

I hate to tell you to use a model in representation of another, but the Vet Kazak is by far a better model than the poor Moblot and typically a better Lt. choice too, in my opinion.

He has an average WIP to help him hide in the force, he has a flamer to fight off camo markers, he has Veteran (screw having one wound, I'd rather bleed out, and no sneaking up on me and "no guts, no glory") as well he has a nice punch from his rifle with AP rounds and even Mimetism to make him harder to kill. He's just all around a tougher nut to crack.

P.S. Good choice on buying the dual SMG Scots Guard, that's one of the models that sold me on Ariadna. Looks ballsy as heck and has some nice rules too. The Moblot did too, but their rules are pretty subpar, sadly, just as Coleslaw expressed, so I haven't bothered with them.

Yeah I'll try proxying him as a veteran Kazak then, dyou think the model works well enough as a proxy?

And yeah I love the dual SMG scots guard, but he was like the only one, so I bought him seperately. He's so badass :) what's he like in the game? Cos I really wanna use him.

Oh yeah, that'll be a fine proxy: HI for HI, same weapons (rifles) and he's the only one you'll be fielding (not like you have a Moblot being a Moblot and then this Moblot as a Vet Kazak).

Well, I'll be honest, I've never actually played a game of Infinity as of now. I just sit around, read a whole lot of tactics and do a lot of theory/stats/math. From what I gather, he's a BEAST when he gets close enough, 4 burst (you could even split the burst between two targets and possible wipe two LI out per order), damage 13 shock weapons with a BS of 15 from 0-16 inches and he has camo; the nightmare of any cheerleaders/specialists. Just sneak him up to any LI just standing around providing orders or enemy specialists moving in to get a job done or trying to tak an objective and destroy them. You'll be able to cripple your opponent easily. Problem is that'll take a few orders to get him close enough with his 6 inch movement and you'll definitely have other models you'll probably want to use those orders on (Uxia, Vet Kazak Lt., S.A.S, Tankhunter and the occasional sniper rounds or mines). Either way, if you get him where he needs to be, he won't disappoint you, that's for freaking sure!

Okay cool, and the models look fairly similar anyway, so yeah :) for my chasseurs, I'm proxying Ghulams from Haqqislam, someone photoshopped them for me so they were in the Merovongian blue and they looked like they fit, dyou think they'd be okay as proxies? And yeah I haven't played a game yet either! And I don't have the eye for what is good or not yet. Thanks for the tips, I guess I do have a lot of models that will all want the orders, but hey. I think it looks like a fun list :)

Ghulams with a different paint scheme from the stock photos would probably proxy as Chasseurs decently, yeah... Lighter skin maybe? ;)

Are you talking the old Ghulams or the newer ones from the current Haqq starter? If the starter set, I wouldn't use the one with a knife as a Chasseur proxy.

The newer ones from the starter, yeah I wasn't gonna use the knife guy he looks a bit vicious haha, so the other bloke and the woman. I'll just say the shotguns under the rifles are flamethrowers...

The Ghulams kind of fit, but I'd make sure it's okay with your opponent before hand at least. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't fit the role since Chasseurs are a pain to get.

Oh yeah, your list should be a pretty fun one to play. You've got enough to cover a lot of problems you'll encounter, but you might be a tad short on orders at times. Here's something that might help with that: use snipers more as ARO defense rather than for the offensive. Hide them in partial cover and use them to lay suppressive fire or just make sure they have good fields of vision to cover the table. This will force your opponent to be careful and use more of their orders to avoid these sniper fire lanes or take a lot of orders to take them out. This way you can optimize the orders for the more order intensive models. Same can go for the Chasseurs with their flash pulses for ARO defenses in the backfield or just use them to setup mine defenses for the snipers as well as camo protection with their flamers and Sixth Sense Lv. 1.

Keep that in mind and I'm sure you'll have fun playing this list and have fun playing your first game too.

Perfect! McNamara did a pretty bang-up job on that, so mad kudos to him. Just paint them up as part of the MRRF and they'll be a perfect fit.

Yeah I know, and that was part of his 'learning to Photoshop' haha. It's amazing how well they fit actually. I'm thinking of using the Halqa if I ever want to run Para commandos. But yeah I'll paint them the same as the FRRM and the only difference really will be the rifles.
