Operation Icestorm

Cover art is up! Amazing and I'm really excited by the art and what it shows about the content! What do we know?
:pano:
Father-Knight (not sure what it is going to be, but looks like a new profile and an NEW ORDER!)
Orc Trooper (resculpt? perhaps! Hope so! )
Nisse
Akalis (resculpt, looking at it's backpack. I liked the old ones as well, but it now looks more in line with the rest of the PanO ADs)
Fusilier
Fusilier
Fusilier (guessing there will be three of the LI units)

:nomad:
Reverend Healer (not sure what it is going to be, looks like new profile)
Mobile Brigada (resculpt, and looks beautiful! This is much more in line with the Corregidor units we've seen in the last series of releases)
Spektr (resculpt?)
Some unit I'm not sure about. Could be a Grenzer of Krizac Borac that is seen in 2nd edition
Alguaciles
Alguaciles
Alguaciles

Looks like they have everything covered!
HI, MI, LI, SK
Camo, Visors, different weapons/ammo types, AD, perhaps the Akalis or the undisclosed Nomad have a hacking profile? Well, whatever it is, we'll see in the coming month!

Awesomesauce! :toot:
This is going on the to buy list!

Doubled cross on the visor, and it looks like a sunburst behind the cross on his shoulder... Greek or Russian Orthodox?

I wonder how balanced this starter is going to be.

Could anybody remind me of the dates and avaliability conditions? End of this month preorder, only at CB shop? Something else? Price?

Yeah... I mean if anybody noted all down... because the official forums are in FUBAR + SNAFU mode. Oh, well... let's the adventure start. At this pace the only way to find something will be to "download" the forum.

One Gencon thing will be the chopper.

And found (did I ever mention that this web 2.0 sucks with all the hidding, because it breaks basic functions like text search? :grumpy: it's retarded, like if they didn't want you to get info, they only like the "like", a la hungry monkey with a fruit dispenser :f5: ):

The chopper preorder at CB shop starts July 28th. Sale at Gencon (and webshop?) August 14th - 17th.

Icestorm will be given as prize for 1st Interplanetary Tournament - July 26 & 27th, in Vigo, Spain.

Now to keep on digging.

Re: Operation Icestorm

And now part of the info I was looking for, via Erasoketa and Warcors site:

- Operation: Icestorm box content to be revealed during July.
- Pre-Sale campaign during August.
- All the miniatures included are new. Their profiles are adapted to N3. Three of the profiles are completely new.
- The special mini, which has it's own profile, will be only available durign the pre-order period. :dejected:
- The minis are in metal, as usual.
- All the minis are exclusive to this box. :dejected:
- A gaming mat is included in the box. (Doesn't say specifically if it includes scenography)
- They have done their best to keep the price as low as possible.

Upselling, "as usual". :argh:

And to clarify/fix:
- Shops should be able to run the presale.
- No all the minis are exclusive to the box, only the two specials, and the extra that will be presale only. Smells like the other 6 per side will become two starters, months later. But dosn't explain how will it work later, with no extra mini. Or maybe they will release a different pose to keep this "dire foes".

And yes, I know, if you don't like, don't buy it, you can always try to find another person to unload what you don't want, etc, etc...

On the one hand, I really wish that game companies would stop trying to sell us crap with boobs. It's off putting to female fans, and an insult to my intelligence.

On the other hand, she's quite attractive, and clearly a talented cosplayer. Does she make her own costumes, or does she have a staff?

Yeah, boobies sell... sadly, because mixes beauty and size, to the level of becoming horrors. No, really, those silicone balloons...

Everytime I look at Hasslefree catalogue I see all different kind of miniatures, and while strongs guys and curvy gals are common, you can find all kind of shapes... and they are all charming.

Her father, she (and maybe others) run a company making props, latex weapons, clothes and such things named Artyfakes.

Actually, I read somewhere that there was a study that indicates that sex doesn't really sell very well. I don't remember exactly what the details were - I'll post it if I can find it. I seem to remember that it was one of those "sex sells better than some other strategies, but sells a lot worse than a bunch of other even better strategies."

I think a lot of people feel talked down to with blatant sexy advertising, and it turns them against the product.

I'm talking out my butt, though, unless I can find the study.

Re: Operation Icestorm

About miniatures, I have read from CB and Reaper that girls sell better, and the more skin/silly pose, the better; and the proofs are that CB has kept some models and killed the male version (last Nomad hackers, they got new box... but the previous female sculpt stays) or that the females wear stupid things or have leg issues while the male goes "by the book" and have more natural poses (HS can do female soldiers with full equipment, and be femenine, not impossible).

So maybe there are even better ways, but maybe harder to do or not so obvious how to do. Sex saturation could make people ignore the ads. Anyway, pick any ad campaign, and see how things are done... say cars, the road is (nearly) free for the car, if some human appears they are great or "the obvious enemy", etc... perfect world, very well defined things. All is very well studied for a given market, compare car for young segment vs older family segment.

Maybe the cosplay will be this new Reverend in the basic rules cover.

Tech Crunch had an article by a marketing staffer at a tech company that detailed the utter lack of success that booth babes have

http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/13/booth- ... t-convert/

It is one thing for the guys at Super Dungeon Explore to do this sort of thing. You don't really expect any better of then as they have produced a tentacle hentai card game.

CB certainly has a fair number of cheesecake miniatures but this is really a stupid. Video game companies are finally coming around to the fact that this sort of "marketing" just pushes people away and now we have to have the same stupid debate in the gaming industry.

Haha, so it seems the masks are falling, and what was "true wisdom" is just demostrating to be "inertia", or at least hard to verify?

Another take on the more general circus of ads.

At least, coming from LARPing etc, she can probably get do a better job attracting people, even if still having to fight other factors, like "don't distract the actors".

Thank you!

Guys, there is a whole thread back on the official forum dedicated to everyone's opinion about tits & asses. I'd like to keep it there.

And for the record; Tabitha contacted CB. It's in no way 'their policy' to sell with T&A and it is the decision of a grown woman to act as an Infinity model. That's all there is to it.

Meh. Whatever. I'm not hugely upset - just noting that it's annoying.

I'm much more excited about Icestorm than I am disappointed by another booth babe... but I have to admit that we're all grasping at straws here. Is there any new news?
