Ok so, i own some anima tactics minis, they are kinda shot to pieces but they look nice and the rules seemed rather cool. I understand that the Bushido game is made by the same people, i was just wondering if anyone here plays bushido, and if theyd recommend it?

Also, secrets of the third reich looks pretty fun, yet again, does anyone play it, would they recommend it?

P.S.:

Bushido is not made by the people who Anime Tactics.

It is, however, a great game supported by a company that is very approachable like Corvus Belli was back in the good old days.

Good to know.

I've been looking at it for a while now but no one plays and I don't have the time or energy to redo what I did for Infinity locally.

This year I got involved in Saga and Batman. Both games failed to capture a solid core of 4 regular gamers that show up at every evening. Its all it takes really. But no game is viable in a FLGS without that.

Guildball is really catching on locally. A tournament will be held next week. I might jump into that. Played a demo Tuesday night. I can see why its popular.

Batman.....

Ugh.

I started playing it but that game has major issues and the company could be possibly be stupid.

I've been on a medieval-Japan bender lately, and I rather like the models, so I have to ask: how conducive is Bushido to being run as a board game? Mainly this is a question of play speed, model count, rules complexity, and scenario variance. (The idea is to have predetermined forces with set scenarios, so that I just have to teach my boardgame group the rules and we can pick it up and play just like any other board games.)

Do elaborate on those issues. I found it to be a rather balanced game.

That said, I no longer player it. Mainly because of the same reasons I quit Infinity (again): too many special rules to keep track of.

Marc C, I bet you are enjoying Saga in that regard. The most streamlined tabletop wargame I have come across so far.

The special rules to keep track of are staggering. You need to have the cards, an online wiki some guy made that has some of the special rules in greater detail, the FAQ, and the rulebook handy to make sense of any of it.

The silencing of any and all dissent. I've had posts removed and been told flat out statements that went along the lines of "This is not the place to question or be negative about the game" etc.

The game comes from an expensive IP. I get it. But to remove the rules from everywhere and kill off the "free rules" aspect it once offered and then make a second rulebook that is NOT standalone and requires the first rulebook is expensive. I am DONE with buying rulebooks. Period. Those days are long gone and dead. Skirmish games need to be accessible.

I was told by a concerned individual associated with the Batman game in retort to my concern about trying to get people to play, that I needed to buy the rulebooks and encourage others to buy the rulebooks so that they could then try the game.

??????????

Stupid. Pure stupid.

Then they went and made 2 additional games and releases went cuckoo. Sculpt quality was iffy at best.

Expensive models + No Free Rules + No Future Plans For Free Rules Like Ever (told that too) + Questionable miniatures + Too Many Games Spoiling The Broth + Silencing Dissenting Opinions = Doomed Game.

Yes SAGA is a charm to play. I only have one opponent at this juncture which can be boring after a while (not him, playing against the same army).
Other guys are working on armies but its taking them for everrrrrrrrr. :suicide:

I'm trying Guildball these days. The demo I had was fun. I went for the Union Crew.

I also play Bushido and really like the small scale skirmish along with the 2 by 2 feet boards. There are 3 very cool mechanics in the game that gives you very tactical options. I too am an old Anima Tactics player and the Ki generation is one of the cool mechanics that's familiar with AT, infinity with it's endless lists of special abillities gets more and more difficult with each new unit ( but I still dig the models).
