Sorry guys, I've been moving for the past week or so and been rather inactive. I am now in South Carolina, no longer Texas.

Hello there,

More entries from me. Unfortunatelly I don't have a picture with a date on it - still I posted this picture 22nd of february at my facebook - I think that it may count :)

Image

Another pic - (this time most of the miniatures are already prepared). I don't know if there's more legal entries over Achilles and Pentesilea (two copies each). All in all just wanted to post these here and add much more miniatures to the total of this edition.

So Claudius - am I in with these? (I mean the lagal speedy ones of course).

Varred and Nazroth, I'll consider both of you guys approved.

Nazroth, I'm allowing it based on prior good behavior and (as you said, your own facebook dates them a bit), but in the future please do have a date stamp within the picture itself.

Great progress so far, guys!

Bug bait, I'd recommend just practicing! I know it's cliche, but it's really the best way to get the experience. A lot of the mistakes that you'll make can only be fixed through application of your experiences and expertise you gain from putting in the time.

I don't mean to be discouraging, but I'm just speaking from experience. Your situation could be different, of course.

An easy way to step up your painting is through application of an airbrush, if you've got one. I'd also recommend reading up on guides to paint, in general. I know I used a lot of things written for Gunpla and applied those techniques to miniatures.

Something else you can do is educate yourself on color theory and study a lot of artworks and try to understand the aesthetic techniques applied to make them so alluring. Chances are, you can apply that same effect to a miniature.

Hopefully that helps and isn't too vague. If you'd like me to expand on that more, just mention it here and I'm sure someone will help you out.

She made a tutorial for the way she paints the armor, i think this should do, also get Angel's book if you can, even if you don't have an airbrush many of the concepts he explains will make you improve.

I haven't given up. I will finish Penny-- almost am finished. The bike, well... Both of these minis, geez, getting them to stay put while painting... I think it's just me though.
WIP of Penny on the bike, and a later WIP of Penny and the bike.

Just a few details on Penny left, including the most important ones, the face-- with the i-Kohl ( how to paint that without tarting up the mini?) and the hair. The mini has great hair. The bike is meant to be midnight blue... for a midnight rider. ( Yeah, an Allman Brothers reference.)

Twelve days to go and here is the current state of things. Very close to finishing Penthesilea, just some touch ups and some more highlighting, but the highlighting needs to be done after the mini is affixed to the bike, which I am still painting. ( I did mention that I am a sloooow painter?) Nonetheless, I expect to finish.

I like the penny mini, but those goggles are a bit goofy. More like something for SCUBA diving. I think this mini has the second most interesting hair in the Infinity range. Anyat has the most interesting.

And finished... so here are the *official* photos. And it felt very strange using only black, white and a mid-tone gray for most of the painting. First time painting anything chrome-ish too, at least in 3 dimensions. That bike... man, is it huge. For the record, it's phthalo blue. I was having a bit of fun with the Macro settings on the camera, hence the very close up shots.

Sort of a 360 photo montage. Good luck to one and all :) Now time for a beer...

I think the blue parts on the bike could use a bit more shine to make it look glossy, unless it was your intention to have that matt feel to it. Everything else looks great.

It's deliberate. I really dislike the glossy look, especially on miniatures. Plus, the focus should be on Penthesilea, not the bike, so, nothing too distracting about the bike, eh?
