Huh... I hadn't thought to do it that way. I had thought of cutting out the plastic, layering them, then just using a stencil to paint the patter. Do you find the mesh is easier to work with?

At first I used the plastic on it's own but what I found out pretty quick - it required some paintjob before it started to resemble a holoprojection, also it was difficult to keep it stuck on the miniature. I used to drill a small hole in it and glue it onto the miniature's fingertips - but still once in a while it just fell off and made me grind my teeth in dissapointment. Mesh not only looks good and makes an impression of electric netting but also stick to the miniature a lot better than plastic does. Also it has it's own flexibility so it should withstand some minor bumps and falls of the miniature :)

You will be thrilled to see how much things can be done using it :) If not for my visit to Fantasygames studio and some tutoring from C'tan I wouldn't had inspiration to buy the mesh myself :)

For starters it is awesome as a part of the bases, and due to it's 'softness' it's easy to file around the base's rim. Another thing that comes in mind is some kind of force field - imagine a dynamically posed model which's forcefield is blokcking incomming missiles - that would look so cool - and mesh is just perfect for the job. Also for armies like Ariadna mesh coulb be used tu buff armour - in Fallout style. Got camo cloaked models? Mesh could be used to create a camo cloak - it is rather soft and easy to work with. A lot of possibilities.

Haha - surely that is a good question. So i just go online and order it from a local modellers store - here's the link: EXITO SEARCH MESH HEXAGONAL

I've never searched for these kind of stuff in the foreign online stores - I wander if price is comparable.
There's also a lot of interresting stuff there for example:

A plasticard formed double-edge beam which I used to build a large roadsign scaffolding in Nomad Soul project
Maple foliage which I used to imitatie crimson Vines in Lone Sentry project

The best thing is that I paint like 15+ years now and untill recently I had that childhood trauma "everything you can find in a modellers store is worthless' cause at that time - IT WAS. But times changed and there's plenty of awesome stuff in a modellers store now. The best thing is to go there in person and see for Your own eyes - Inspiration is everywhere there.

Thanks - glad that you like it. I had my right hand broken not so long ago - before that I wrote ugly as hell but now - it is near to perfect ugliness :) Im pretty writeless now - which is strange as I regained means to paint pretty quick but unfortunatelly not to write. It just forces my hand to work in a position that is no longer achievable. Once I re-learn of how to write and work on some freehands - when I feel ready - I will certainly fill the blank name plaques.

Here's another miniature for my own Nomad, Corregidor collection. The story is short: Last tournament I was exchanging experiences with fellow gamers and was told to get McMurrough as a totally awesome one-man-army (or rather one-dog-army). I made a conversion using Dog-Warrior from Ariadna. I just love the miniature and felt like this one will feel much more at home with the rest of my white-helmeted Corregidor soldiers. I learned some thing while painting Alguacil Hacker, so used them here adding Green to suppliment the Reds, darkening and sharpening Greys and here's the result:

As always more pics can be found on my blog, this time at GALLERY: NOMAD

I hope you like the miniature,

Thanks el_presidente,

**************************************************************

I just love Infinity miniatures - that being said I must confess that there are some miniatures that are just old and rather... 'ugly'? I'm not sure if I want to call them that - still I bought them but will not use them ever - regardless of circumstances. Moran Masai Hunter is just a perfect example of a miniature that in my opinion should stay boxed till the sun runs out of juice. (I like the Koalas tho, so I bought a couple of Morans anyway). Seeing awesome and breathtaking miniatures release throughout 2015th by CB I started to yearn for new Moran to appear. Seen that Croc-Man and all the other goodies - tears in my eyes I looked upon the old Morans and cried out loud. I even asked and plead CB to release new Morans at couple of occasions (Facebook) but with no avail. That is my sad story fellow hobbyists...

... So I decided to make my own!

I used Corregidor Jagguars due to their dynamic poses and rather light armoured bodies - perfect to be fielded as infiltrators. I also used arms and heads of Spektrs - I love them, with Operation Ice Storm Spektr being one of the best miniatures from the Nomad range to be released last year. As a testimony to my love - four Spektr headless torsoes can be seen in the picture. This will definetly fill my Corregidors theme pretty well and I will be able to use my previos Moran conversion as Senior Massacre - the role in which the miniature fits much better.

hope you like it - more pics soon (probably friday - must paint these before saturday's tournament),

Regards,

Oh... That's a nice conversion! A pretty good idea! Will you be sculpting scarves onto them? I always thought the checkered scarf was a sort of signature item of the Moran Maasai.

Thanks for the appreciation.
I won't be sculpting scarfs - I fully understand that some unist represent a certain nation or part of the worlds culture - but I have a totally different vision of Nomads and Corregidor in particular. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter style scarfs, Morans being stylised as Maasai from Kenya or Tanzania, nor the overall flavor of Morans. In my minds eye I see them as a highly specialised infiltration guerrilla unit performing observation activities behing the enemy lines, supported by crazy koalas and cloacked with medium-tech. Moran original rules support this vision verry well and I'd rather keep to it. Not that I didn't try. In the beginning I tried to use Grenzer's coat piece to replace the scarf but it took too much space on the back of the miniature - where Alguacil's bacpack was used. And I figured out that except for hobbits or Harry Potter - no one actually uses a cloak for infiltration :P In the far future such device will only make silent, smooth movement difficult. Well - that's what I think :P Still I fully respect that some hobbyists like Morans as they are and see some key elements of these miniatures as a must-have. That is the best in miniature games - we all can bend our miniatures to fit what we like.

Hey guys - I have two important news to announce:

1) I will start with the bad news - I've decided to forfeit my blogspot blog. I will leave all the content on it but will not add any additional tutorials, reviews, recipes nor galleries.

2) Now's the good one - www.scarhandpainting.com is online and ready to be explored. Almost all of the content you might seen on my previous blog is reposted here and a lot of awesome new features await to be tested.

Must say that these past few days left me exausted with work around my new website. Whole operation wasn't easy but seeing the results I'm more than happy that I finally took that step. I sincerly hope that number of viewers will be at least as good as on my blogspot blog.

And to make your transition more confortable I've just published a brand new TUTORIAL: PAINTING MARBLE! Hope you find it useful...

Great. Both that you got your own domain, and that you left the old version online.

Dammit, yes! Sometimes i see many people that seem to assume you got an airbrush, like it's something you go get at the store with the pocket change you fished out of the couch cushions
The fact that the techniques are simple and effective also helps :)

Is your couch some foam over particle board and or hand sewed leather with horse hair stuffing over solid wood? It's an important detail. Also it matters if the shop is in USA or Australia. :v:
