Just for the record, my entry is done:
Image

I'll submit exact pics of the Sekban HRL somewhen later, when I'll have some time to sit down and give him (and his - so far, two - buddies) a proper session with a camera.

That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand

:ariadna:
Hello again everyone, sorry it's been a little while and I have a lot of work in progress to share. So I am enjoying the paint job on my tank hunter however it took a little bit to get there. I started off with a breakdown like in the first pictures using Rhinox Hide for the brown, Knarloc Green, and Tallarn Sand. After first highlights and shade this is what I got.
PicsArt_10-24-03.05.58.jpg

PicsArt_10-24-03.08.56.jpg

Now I wasn't too particularly happy with the way the green looked so took it up quite a bit with Moot Green Knarloc Green mix then subdued it with a wash. I also began to work on the details on the model and highlighted the cannon and other metals. I also changed the helmet color for tan.

After all of that and some free hand work this is where I'm at. I plan to make a base for him since i have some extra time as well as doctor the auto cannon a bit more. I hope you guys enjoy!

Hey guys,

I had some time off and prepared this:
Image
Image
I used modelling putty and some GW technical paints to facturise the base. Everything is airbrushed brown now. Tommorow I will cover all metal parts with rust following this awesome tutorial: "hairspray and salt"

PS: C'tan from Fantasygames is a king - do not hesitate and check his tutorials out! I had a pleasure to watch him work on the miniatures - awesome skill.

Till next WIP ;)

Using sponge and/or pigments instead of plain airbrush for the browns/oranges, gives a more textured rust, which is probably better for things that have been in the wild for a lot of time, instead of just recently burnt. Also try finer salt for this slow effect.

If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Thanks to some groovy painkillers, got these primed this morning. I make that 5 Snipers, 6 HMG's, 1 Heavy Rocket Launcher, 1 Spitfire, 1 ADHL, 1 Missile Launcher and some odd bits & pieces:

Thanks for a great advice. I try to keep this work rather not so much realistic and closer to Infinity visual theme just as the last project. Something between weathering, OSL, dust etc. and strong colours, clear edges... like a hybrid of these two themes. Still i will try some with the sponge - once more thanks!

Well, I was able to sit down and take proper pics sooner than I expected :)

Now, as the entry itself was about the HRL Sekban...
I must say I got used to the shiny effect of the "satin" Valejjo varnish, but on the photos it glares like Rudolf the Reindeer's nose...

Since there seems to be some kind of problem with posting the pics, I'm posting links to them, too.

A bit more progress

I know Halloween is just around the corner, but still, no Wicked Witch of the West-- well, Midwest-- jokes please.

Claudius, the green is called Spring Pasture. It is a Martha Stewart Craft Paint. I'm finding that line of paints to work well on miniatures, believe it or not.

I should finish the Armbot soon enough. I'm not planning anything dramatic for it. Plus I have to paint the Spitfire version too.

Thank you for the pointer.
I have no idea on how to make them work, dammit...

Fraggin' Google, they keep changin' how stuff works. And then I can't get it right :(

Does it work now?

To everyone, thanks for participating so much! I'm regretful that I don't have as much time recently to comment and assist everyone. Know that I think you're all doing rather well (more so than me, at least, since I've gotten next to nothing done for the hobby).

Hi! Here is my progress at work

I did want to point out, though:

That is super shiny. Are you sure you want it that bright? While the effect is certainly eye-catching, I'm not sure you want to whitewash the whole thing like that. To me, it gives a very artificial feel and kind of broadcasts that the model was painted. The technique used is great, but perhaps too much?

Really, that decision is up to you! I am but one voter among our populace.

That's rather convincing rust, though I'd say it might be over-rusted? Just my personal preference when I see rust on a miniature.

Hey guys - work is going pretty well. I decided to rush the pace a bit due to incoming commission which will probably take all of my attention. So i switched from smaller stuff to this Special Project.

Hope you like it. the best thing will be to either weather this model to fit the diorama, or tu flush diorama's colours to fit this model in :)

Great job, Nazroth and red harvest!

That red is looking rather well detailed. I don't know about the weathering, but I'd recommend maybe just a little bit of weathering to blend in slightly, but not so much that the model doesn't "pop out" from the diorama.

I like the blue, harvest. Combined with the other color applications and the highlights, the armor almost looks ceramic to me.

Thanks mate :)

I decided to cut this diorama into pieces and rebuild it at a totally different base - this miniature is a biker - it needs some space and overall looked somehow odd. I also added some OSL, which literally killed the up front armour, still that was the idea from the start and had to do this.

Here's the pic at this point:

I can see what you mean about the OSL killing the front of the armor. My suggestion? Use red glazes to tone down that blue until you get the effect you want. Right now, that isn't OSL so much as nuclear radiation!

Very good advice - I will probably heed it. Thanks again :)
At first it looked like plenty of armour was left untouched but I didn't take bike into consideration and it stole most of it away.
