That should be all the bits for the Pathfinder Dronbot for the boys in blue (Fwd Observer specialist right?).

Before I go any further, is it really worth the effort to magnetise the kit to allow building any Dronbot?
I was originally intending to build only the Pathfinder and the Sierra. However I already think I won't get this finished for the August deadline.

Looks good. You have the go-ahead!

As far as magnetizing goes, I've never bothered with magnetizing remotes. The differences are very minor and I prefer form over function. All that matters is that it looks cool. By August deadline, you mean the end of August, right?

Isn't that a Wildcat Spitfire? If so, it's not eligible...

That's Tomcat Engineer (left, on the right, it's Carlotta Kowalski), back from the day they were sold in blisters (i.e. before the CB boxed them together with Tomcat DEP and two new sculpts - Tomcat Doctor and Zondcat REM).

And yes, she does qualify as Specialist Troop all the way :didactic:

I'd love to get that cookie, but my doc suggested me to cut on sweets ;). So pass it to someone who can enjoy it :D

Ain't yours :P. The identification was not precise - there are 7 Tomcat profiles (if oyu count the Zondcat ones as separate), and 3 of these do not qualify as Specialists :P

I love the idea of magnetising and tend to prefer WYSIWYG for models, I can never be bothered with the multi loadout remotes - just picking the bits that look coolest and then proxying that in for whatever profile. The spindly nature of Infinity models means contact points for neodymium magnets is going to be pretty small and scares me off the idea. It's not like sticking 40K Landraider sponsons on! Cool if you can do it, though.

splayedpaintbrush wrote:@Maxvon_d, nice start. Really like the black and purple leggings. I foresee another winning entry here lol, your Ajax was my favourite last challenge.

Aw thanks :) You know, I think I've convinced myself to repaint her legs and do them as ripped black tights, to further push the emo look and differentiate her from the studio job. Also, I didn't realise that she has cyber arms til I started painting her as the studio job makes it look like she has long sleeves. Was thinking of chroming them up a bit, as long as it doesn't colour clash

Hooollyyyyyy bejeeezuz I never realised that! I just slapped on some washes on my Cordelia the night before a tournament and never got back to detailing her. Cool.

Also, I recently painted some Pano drones as part of a commission, and I felt the only thing that really needed a magnet was the smart missile launcher. The other stuff is kinda whatever.

The only bit I've ever magnetized on my own bots is the HMG for a total reaction variant. (bigger one). Never played other than total reaction or one of the basic 8 points things. Got some on large bases for the baggage one, and small for the cheap repeater one. The small one gets a HMG plopped on the side if it is a TR bot.

The confrontation to military orders project will most likely go back to the WIP shelf collecting dust, the august tourney I was prepping them for is going hard line ITS ruling on Corvus Belli only. I blame Warmachine mentality lol, back in my 40k days WYSIWYG was more important than % of original model.

Might paint a sekban or djanbazan doc instead or something, if I manage to log in here from my phone again for crappy prepaint photos.

ahh well there is a challenge, you see tights painted by all skill levels of painters and with varying results. But I tend to only see two levels of painted ripped tights. Really good or really bad. Having never tried myself, i guess it is the visibly harsh change in the colour at the boundary of the rip yet trying to maintain the illusion of a shear fabric.

I tend to be a WYSIWYG person, but mostly because I like the modelling/converting challenge rather than any rules reason. I can see what is meant by the WM mentality and can understand why a company wants predominately their own product on the tabletop at an event. But i always felt that their conversion guidelines added an element to the converting challenge rather than restrict a person's choices. In essence the guidelines were all about making the conversion easy to recognise on the table.
But back to magnetising Dronbots lol.
I thought i had some 1mm diameter magnets which would be ideal for the gun mounts. But couldn't find them. So in the interests of speed the Pathfinder is now assembled and base coated. And its base is covered in vulcanising silicone.

Out of curiosity Djihani, when you say you had a bigger HMG what did you use?

I use a haqqislami spitfire with an extended barrel. Looks like the old haqqi hmg. Never liked the haqq spitfire as is. Too bulky. I use nomad spitfires on me haqq models.

I took the plunge and went for the ripped stockings.

Image

And a close-up.

Probably tidy them a bit more but I'm generally pleased that the effect is how I imagined it. Trick seemed to be to paint ellipses in a dark brown/black and then fill these with a fleshtone and also add some ladders for variety. Few more details over on my blog.

So in an attempt to get a model painted, I haven't done any since April, I made a start on the Pathfinder Dronbot.

All airbrush so far.

Base coat
Image

And some more colours...
Image

All the way up to white.
Image

And finally it's successfully cast resin base topper. Lagging behind in the paint department though.

Ok, running out of time here and (after meeting Claudius in person at GenCon) I decided I needed to support this! While I don't have my Yu Jing I'll paint up these two Nomads Specialists!

So I haven't had much motivation to paint any Infinity since I haven't had a game in a long time, but I had an unpainted Zero that I have no need of in my Nomads so I decided to paint a scheme I've wanted to try for a while.

Entry and first WIP:

I'm thinking of painting the eye bright green for the contrast.

The pink based camouflage looks pretty good from that one angle. Green or teal would probably be your best bets for contrast.

I'm partway through the HMG to combi conversion for one of my Zu Yong (I'll post pic later). However, I mangled the first HMG I tried to convert, and so I will only be entering a single Zu Yong while waiting for a box release...

Conversion pics as promised. Apologies for the low quality - my work station isn't exactly set up for photography...

I cut out the muzzle, barrel, and top receiver, filed down anything I missed with the dremel, and then glued a piece of brass tube in as the new barrel. The lower gap was then filled in with GS. I still need to go back and add a top and bottom rail, with more GS as the inevitable...

Also, pictures of the mangled one for the curious (not for the faint of heart). I tried cutting the barrel out with some side shears, but doing so caused the rest of gun to bend..

The bad
