Holy crap, guys, you are way to fast for me. I only got my ABH primed and basecoated via airbrush. I'll post a picture later on. Had trouble deciding on a paintscheme for him, but then I remembered what the mini reminded me of briareos from the latest appleseed. I'm gonna go with some olives, greys and a tad of khaki, I think.

Wow! So many entries! Thank you everyone for participating so far! We haven't even gone a week into the new season! Thank you to everyone! Let's see if I can't reply to you all.

Quase wrote:My first WIP, nothing as spectacular as volt-ron's.

I've just managed to clean the fig from flash, assemble it and make a nice base.
Ready for priming!

And I need to decide on a colour scheme... He'll have to fit in with my Haqq, but he should also definately stand out as a stranger amongst them.

Entry noted! Have fun! Maybe paint him similar to your taureg? Blues with Beige, but emphasis on the blue?

This may be a challenge....two mini's for the price of one! But it fits the requirements in armor AND wounds!!!

I am all in kids....

Welcome, once again, to the campaign! Get crackin'! :cop:

It's better, but I'd still go for more depth of color. Still looking flat to me.

Unfortunately, I cannot accept this entry. If you wish to submit this model, you will need to strip it down first. The most I can accept is zenith primed state. Unfortunately, it looks like you've done a fair amount of work already on the gun and the armor.

Is this a finished entry? Why would you need a socket to go around the base? Also: I LIKE THAT VISOR! I hadn't thought of anyone doing that, but that looks pretty damned good. You might try shading the white further? I'm also having a hard time picking out the "cabling" in the unarmored spots. The Greys/Blacks are rather well highlighted, though! Same with the gold/orange visor.

The blue looks a touch too muted to me, but I've been burrowing through Angel's book every day. So that might be a bit of an unfair comparison.
Using TMM on the sword? Make sure to shade with transparent paints to really give it some luster! I'm a fan of the face, though! The eyes might be a bit too outlined, but it would certainly look great from an arm's length.

Thanks for the compliments and advice.
Not quite done yet. Since there's time before the deadline, I want to make a mini-diorama to go with the Zuyong.

The white is shaded up from VGC cold grey, I think the previous photo is a little too dark to show the contrast. Here's a newly taken one, I think it's better? (The cabling shows better here too)

I can see it a little better. Is there a reason you're only shading up from grey? Right now, I think the white looks too monochrome (ironic, I know). Have you tried shading with an "Ice Blue" or similar color?

If I'm going for a "cool" white, I'll highlight up from (VMC/VMA):
-70.906 Pale Blue
-71.046 Light Blue RLM76

If I'm going for a "warm" white, I'll highlight up from (VMC/VMA):
-70.858 Ice Yellow
-70.928 Light Flesh

In your case, the visor provides plenty of "warmth", so I'd go for the cooler white.

As for the cabling... Maybe it looks better from other angles? I still don't quite agree with how it is right now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that next time, a little too late now to do that with the Zuyong. The only reason I stuck with the greys is because that's how I did all my other whites. But adding color to it seems like a good idea. For some reason, I do that with my blacks, but never with my whites.

I'd personally shade the whites with a blue since the visor is orange. Go for that oh so eye pleasing blue/orange contrast.

Hmm, all I've done with the model there is just base coats of crimson, grey and black right after assembly to be eligible for a gaming standard in my local game store. In my eyes, I haven't even begun working on it - my Infinity models so far have taken 10+ hours each. However, rules are rules and I understand :)

It would feel like a bit of an odd thing to strip and re-prime a perfectly paintable model, though. I have several models in the mail, one of them is Joan that comes with Giraldez's book, the other one is Dr. Worm. Since I'm trying to prioritize gaming models first for painting (I simply have so much of models to paint and not enough time), would the mighty Dr. Worm count as Heavy Infantry? Or will I have to paint Joan instead?

Yeah, terribly sorry, but when prizes are involved, I can't go easy. Gotta be a rules stickler. :cop:

With that said, the Medtech will not count as Heavy Infantry due to lacking all the requirements. To be more clear, I've put the requirements in the Topic post. I will repeat them here.
Requirements:

ARM of 3 or more
Wounds of 2 or more (there are some exceptions, such as the Authorized Bounty Hunter)

That's it! You'll note that models like Ajax, despite being classified as a Warband, will qualify as a Heavy Infantry for this campaign. Please keep that in mind.

You should paint Joan though because she is a amazing. :awww:

I still don't have an entry but it's lovely to see so many people participating. Should we suggest getting the forum's architecture ready for larger polls? This could become increasingly problematic.

Yeah, gonna have to go with Joan, then. Hope she arrives soon. I guess in the mean time I can decide on the colour scheme to give her. Too bad she'll be my only non-CA model and thus won't see battlefield for quite some time!

Edit: Upon closer inspection of the Suryat, I spotted several sneaky mold lines that I had missed during assembly. Guess I'll be entering him after all, after properly filing down the mold lines and re-priming it. Is a white-over-black basecoat eligible for the entry?

I will accept monochrome zenith priming stages. If it looks like you sprayed black, then white (or greys) over top with increasingly elevated angles, then that's OK with me.

Thanks, I appreciate the criticism and the kind words. I'm going for a muted blue look for my PanO. I've been keeping it consistent for all my models as a form of PanO uniform. Once I get some of the other details painted, it looks good against the blue, in my opinion.

Yep, the sword will be hit with a blue glaze.

Her eyes are the first ones I've been able to get to look good and not crossed-eyed. I'm really happy how they turned out so far.

Finished primary black/white basecoats on the Anathematic. Next step will be to do a glowing blue wash on all the white parts.

Got some time tonight, and glazed the midtone with a pale blue. Also push the contrast in the cabling a bit more.

Here is where I am at for the moment...
Image
Image
Image

Nothing is finished really.
The orange needs a final extreme highlight or two and shading,
the bare metals still need shading and highlighting,
the gun needs to get more pronounced, but I'll probably not add any more shading there, only highlights and maybe a small spot of contrasting colour.
Maybe the blue can be considered as finished, but the more I look at it, the more I think I'll add some shading

And I can't help but shake the feeling that the whole fig needs a counterpoint in colour somewhere, some small popping detail or two, nicely contrasting to make everything 'come alive' as it were, even if the fig itself is quite static...

Any and all feedback much appreciated ;)

Disappointed to miss the last painting campaign so I'll be sure to take part in this one.

Got a Mobile Brigada assembled and ready to go but thought it might be nice to do the Iguana Operator for something a little different.

I can certainly accept that timestamp. Though, if you do the Iguana Operator, I will have to require you also submit the Iguana, itself... If that's alright with you, then please go ahead! Otherwise, you might want to just go ahead with the Mobile Brigada. Don't forget the "before" picture!

Sorry for the stipulation. I'm trying to handle the "what counts" issue through profiles. Since the Iguana operator is not purchasable on it's own (kinda wish it was), the whole thing needs to be submitted.

I'll update the original post to reflect this decision.
