Terraforming

by gamefreak180 » March 28th, 2015, 4:06 pm

Ok so to prepare for the rpg coming out I figured i would start building some planets. Will start with some of the more basic details or so before I include anything dealing with the human settlements. Feel free to make your own planets and i will ad it to the list so we can get our own systems set up. Warning you know they will be 2parts sci-fi 1part science. So with out further ado i shall start.
note: please wait till i have 5 extra spots reserved for planets no idea how much space this will take up.

Initializing data connection...processing....downloading Planetary Information Database
Hydradoria
size- 1.5 times the size of earth.
day- cycle 32hrs
year cycle- 370 days
atmosphere conditions- Due to heavy cloud cover little solar radiation that comes through is seen from the planets surface. There is only enough solar radiation for there to be a slight noticeable difference between night and day. There is a 100% humidity at all times.
atmosphere composition- The atmosphere comprises of primarily two parts hydrogen to one part oxygen and other trace gases. WARNING WARNING WARNING due to the composition of the atmosphere it is unadvised to be on the planets surface without an environmental suit studies show that unless a human has the genetic adaptation gills or amphibious adaptation their lungs will fill with water in10 seconds
planet surface composition- 30% landmass 70% fresh water
climate-
flora-
fauna-
minerals-

Umm... but what do you want to build?

We have a limited number of planets capable of sustaining human life.
Earth, Dawn, NeoTerra, Varuna, Acontaciemento, Svalarheima, Shentang, Yutang, Bouraq, Paradiso. I don't think I missed anything. We even have maps for them.

Plus there are several planets that are not capable of sustaining human life but still inhabitable with right technology and enclosed cities. Like Mars, or Venus. There are multiple dwarf planets, moons and asteroids, and fully contained habitats.

Yes, we don't know about Tohaa space and EI occupied psace.
They say there will be Heaven and the Fount of Kausar,
That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand
(For) ready cash is better than a thousand credits.

honestly i was going to do one maybe two that could allow humanity to live on it. as you can tell with hydradoria I was going to do a few that required technology or nomad genetic modifications to even step foot onto the plannet.
That's just me the idea is to turn this into a collection of player made planets hence the number of reserved spots.

So what do you think of hydradoria so far?

The fiction of Infinity is pretty set in stone. No 40k-like 'the WHOLE universe is at your feet, so you can do whatever you want'

Before continuing, I'd advice you to look into the fluff for ideas and locations.

Infinity brings a diverse group of planets, orbital platforms, space ships and asteroid fields to give you enough to work with for an RPG. There is little need for settings outside of the given fiction as most things are entirely open; Acontecimento is a jungle planet, but whether you want to place your adventure in a city or the jungle or some industrial refinery on Acon, it's all possible.

Well, just not this type of an universe...

Best is to take the fiction given, and make up from there.

For example:
Stealing Silk from a refinery in the desert of Bourak, next to the big MagLev train.
Sabotage a large Industrial complex in the jungles of Acontecimento
Trying to escape from the Imperial Service in the undercity of Yu Tang
Hijacking Haqqislam shuttles to assault and board one of Aleph's orbital platforms for valid Intel
Pursuing a fugitive in the streets surrounding the El Medinat Caliphate orbital elevator
Boarding a Nomad Vessel to reclaim stollen data
Extracting Wetware tech out of a Yu Jing miner base on Dawn.
Destroying important research facility of PanO, located in the outskirts of Dawn
Assassinating important o-12 representative on Neoterra.

Or, reenact things like the Phantom conflict, where Aleph operatives boarded and attacked Bakunin's ship in an effort to unleash a war against the Nomads, or the Colonial Conflicts, which had all the major factions in the Human Sphere against each other: Yu Jing and PanO + Mercs, on Ariadna soil, while Haqq and Nomads were running trade.

Just a few examples based on the stuff the fluff gives you that I could think of in 2 minutes,

Note that Infinity is about spec-ops and secret operations.. Not all out war. All the factions are bugging each other, and backstabbing, but there is a relative 'cold' peace between most factions. Trade and diplomatic conflicts are bigger and more apparent than fire fights. :)

if you do not mind i will take as many ideas as possible in the other thread especially ones that only a team of nomads would do. (gf interested only in them and not sure what other factions would actually peacefully work with them.) trying to find as much information i can and fluff that i can so i can get a good amount of story written before the game comes out then just add in specifics such as enemies, gear, "treasure", ect

Do you not own the books of Infinity? Because that might help you A LOT regarding the fiction of Infinity. It will probably solve a LOT of your questions and efforts. ;)

In short and very crude:
Nomads are best friends with Haqqislam (who use them as contractors) and Ariadna (who use the Nomads as trafficers of the Ariadnan resources and trade.
PanO and Yu Jing both use the Nomads as a cheap workforce, so this is a love-hate relationship. Both factions try to eradicate the Nomads, but like to use their workforce and services.
Nomads also are the money launders and deal in exotic and illegal substances and certain kinds of prostitution, so they have good contacts with the shady sides in every culture; Yakuza, Mafia, etc.
Their mortal enemy is Aleph, which they really despise.

They shine in illegal trade, smuggling, Zero-G work, mercenary forces, cheap labor, the exotic substances.

Though I wouldn't call the Nomad-Haqqislamite relationship being "best friends ever". It is an alliance of convenience - they both are mistrustful towards Aleph, and, being minor powers in Human Sphere politics, they often go in-hand to counterbalance either PanOceania or Yu Jing (as far as they can affect either of these!).

Then again, there were multiple examples of Nomads going against Haqqislam if they considered they'll be better off that way.

True, underdogs always go for opportunism. ;) But I think especially QK and Nomads are really close, as Nomads use the QK caravanseries and orbital stations (most built by Corregidor workforces) to travel, shelter and trade from. You can also field them in the QK army :p and indeed, both dislike Aleph a lot (although I'm still not sure how the Caliphate stands towards Aleph).

I'm pretty sure they aren't opposed to AI as-such, but Aleph trying to be-all, end-all AI controlling the Human Sphere would, I think, be not something that even the Caliphate likes. It would be a being effectively posing to be a deity, and a creation of Humanity trying to control the same Humanity who created it.

Definitely not something they would be willing to swallow.
