Umm... 0.04" i think.

If an inch is 25.4mm then this is 1/25.4 thick (1mm)

The legs are double this but the top is 1mm

1mm is close enough to 0.040" that plastruct uses the two measurements interchangeably.

Re: [LaserCutCard] Stacked containers plus bundle deal

by LaserCutCard » March 12th, 2015, 9:43 am

We’ve created a new product to round out our container range – stacked containers.

We found that a lot of the time we were stacking the containers on top of one another and someone suggested we do a stacked set (as it would be cheaper than two individual ones).

And so here it is.

Image

$16.95 for the set of stacked containers, and postage anywhere is $2 (the set has two stacks)

http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/shop/containers-stacked

Also, we’ve created a bundle deal that is any two of our container sets for $25.50 (postage is $4)

You can mix and match between

- set of 3 standard containers
- set of 2 stacks of containers
- container houses
- container shops
- container site office

Re: [LaserCutCard] Strength test #2

by LaserCutCard » March 13th, 2015, 3:22 pm

After our initial strength test (scroll back a bit if you did not see it), someone in the Infinity Australia facebook page asked if the picnic table could stand TWO bricks The answer is, one brick good, two bricks bad (but it can handle the weight of two bricks with assistance)

Nothing actually broke but it was very difficult to get the weight to stay exactly above the legs. If I held it in place, the legs could take the weight but as soon as I let go it would fall one way or the other to the side. I think my work table is not actually level.

I was quite impressed that the normal wood glue did not tear… the card just bent. I’ll have these back on the table after straightening the legs up.

Just to be clear... I am in no way implying that our stuff is stronger than anyone else's - these are just to say that our stuff is stronger than most people give card credit for.

Well said. Cardboard is under estimated.
Another property I like is that thin pieces bend instead of breaking off like MDF.

This is a model that I am really excited about. The test build went together incredibly easily meaning all we have to do is think about detailing. When you compare it to some other flyers it is a little big and so the next test will scale it down a little but overall it worked out fantastically.

To get this, please use this coupon: DATASPHERE

It is case sensitive so rather copy and paste.

If you have never ordered anything from us before and are considering maybe using this, please read this to understand how our shipping options work:

Re: [LaserCutCard] Seven cool tables

by LaserCutCard » April 14th, 2015, 7:16 am

We supplied the scenery for a 40k (whaaat??) tournament over this last weekend that was part of Icon By The Sea - a local gaming convention

Here are the tables we did - obviously not all of them are good for Infinity but there were some Infinity players there and three of the tables were voted as "perfect for Infinity".

There are bigger images here: http://lasercutcard.co.za/2015/04/icon-by-the-sea-2015/

Image
The container docks table was a highlight of the tournament.
Apart from featuring plenty of examples of our shipping container range, it also featured a container ship AND an escort destroyer.
The destroyer had three basilisks on it, each of which could be fired once per game.

Image
The Necron table represented the surface of a world totally given over to a data matrix and featured an example of every single item in our Cyborg range

Image
The “Infinity” table represented something unfamiliar to most 40k players: unruined buildings. It had all our Futurehab range on it

Image
The art deco ruins table was a big favourite with all the players, being dominated by a huge skyscraper that had special rules attached to it. This used multiple versions of our art deco ruins

Image
The ork table used all of our existing Orc range as well as our soon-to-be-released orc fort and orc bastion

Image
The Nurgle table featured a large number of disturbing baby heads, showing that cute little dolls can be way way creepier than skulls.

Image
The alpine table represented a 40k version of the Ardennes

The entire weekend was a blast and we will definitely be back next year, bigger and better.

The gunship model is finished… it just needs a nice paint job.

It should retail for $16 including the stand.

it is bigger than a storm talon and smaller than a storm raven.

We're keeping the detailing down so that you can modify it into whatever you want.

Good idea - I will do that at a later stage - at the moment it does not have landing skegs or anything so you would just have to plonk it down. I will take a photo of that tonight

As it is, gunship is finally ready and in the store. It is $16.50 with the stand but would be $13 without

Image

This was surprisingly difficult to paint for me as I am not used to larger models like this.

There are a a bunch more photos here. http://lasercutcard.co.za/2015/04/the-gunship-is-released/

Re: [LaserCutCard] Scrap fort WIPs

by LaserCutCard » April 22nd, 2015, 7:45 am

Normally I don't post stuff here that is not specifically for Infinity but a scrap fort sort of straddles the line.

Apologies in advance for the figures used for scale though :)

We've been playing around with this for a while, including using a prototype in a local competition to see how players interacted with it.

It is almost ready to go

Image

The idea is to produce a modular fort that comprises of four basic kits:

Image
A bastion

Image
A gatehouse

Image
A tower

Image
A wall

The gatehouse, tower and wall also come with two short angled walls so that you don't have to have a perfectly square fort.

We aim to have each set priced at around $10 and you can buy what you want depending on how big you want your fort to be

As for player feedback,
- it was a great LOS blocker at the centre of the table
- having the pieces modular made it very easy to pack away and the pieces were really strong

Now to paint them :)

by LaserCutCard » May 18th, 2015, 12:30 pm

We have re-released the art deco ruins and they are now in the store here: http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/shop/scenery/buildings

These models have had the MDF replaced with card, which has made them lighter (saves on shipping) and cheaper by about $7 per model.

They are all part of the same building master file (which is based on a real building - Victoria Mansions in Durban, South Africa)

They are fantastic for 28mm games where skulls are not a prerequisite (or even 28mm games where you are just tired of skulls) :D

One level ruin: $16

Two level ruin: $20

Three level ruin: $20

Any chance of an intact version of that building? Wouldn't have to be all 9-10 storeys like the original, but I'd love to see some Art Deco buildings on the Infinity table (re-watched Blade Runner last night).

Re: [LaserCutCard] Shipping containers and new vehicle WIP

by LaserCutCard » August 1st, 2015, 4:54 am

It's been a quiet couple of months on the R&D front at LCC but things are starting to happen again.

These are test cuts of two new kits.

Image

Container Box Set test cut

This is basically a set of 4 containers in sets of two, joined together. It will complement the stacked containers and the set of three single containers and provide a cheap and easy way to set up an entire board with containers.

The other one is of less interest to Infinity players but what the hey...

Image
Na-To test cut 1

The Na-To was an Imperial Japanese Army tank destroyer designed in the closing stages of WW2.

We like the shape as a generic tracked transport and so are having a crack at it.

This version is quite a lot bigger than the real life one, assuming 1/48 scale

The next version will test an accurate 1/48 scale one with a slightly different track system but so far, so good.

If you want to see bigger versions of those pictures they are available here: http://lasercutcard.co.za/2015/08/new-v ... ners-wips/

Re: [LaserCutCard] Shipping containers bundle deal

by LaserCutCard » August 4th, 2015, 10:27 am

We’ve added a new container set to our collection – the “container box” set. This is effectively two of our standard containers, side by side.

Image

This completes our Core Container range, which comprises set of 3 standard single containers, the “container stack” (two standard containers on top of one another) and now the “container box”.

The stack and box sets are $14.95 each and the standard set of 3 is only $15.95 but you can now get all three of these core sets in a single bundle for only $34.95 – saving 25%!

The Na-To, resized for 1/48 and with detailing added.

The track system has been modifed to have idler wheels too.

What a great model to put together... easy and fast to build and strong as heck. It had some tiny bugs which have been sent for correction and then we should be able to release it next week.

Price is looking at around $18

Re: [LaserCutCard] New Product: Na-To-Chassis

by LaserCutCard » September 2nd, 2015, 10:14 am

The Na-To was a late addition to the WW2 arsenal of the Empire Of Japan. It was intended as the carrier for the Type 5 anti-tank gun and was meant for the final defense of the home islands.

The war ended before it went into production but we kind of love the ugly little beast and so it is resurrected here as a generic tractor.

Image
The standard model is really easy to put together and is a great basis for your own conversions. This basic set is $16.95

Image
It can be bought with the “orc” upgrade set for an additional $4… this includes a set of orc glyphs and a set of our heavy machine guns. The upgrade is an extra $4

Image
The model is scaled fairly accurately to 1/48 scale and as a happy coincidence, is perfect for 30mm wargames systems.

Postage is $2 worldwide for a single model, but only $4 for up to 3.

The glyph upgrade set includes enough glyphs for 2 models so if you are considering ordering 2 or more of the "orc ones, it is only necessary to buy one upgrade per 2 models.
