First one is the coolest looking. Third probably the most realistic.

Are you going to sell this painted or just for the shop photos?
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I really appreciate it.

I think the third one is probably going to work best when the glass floors are stacked but yes, the first one looks the coolest :)

I'm looking forward to getting the revised cuts back next week to try it out.

Mob of Blondes wrote:Are you going to sell this painted or just for the shop photos?

These are just for the shop photos as I have never considered shipping stuff already painted.

However I am going to include an airbrush template in this kit to make painting it a little easier if you have one.

I cut this one out manually and had to do each plate one at a time, which got boring quickly but the new cut will have a template that will let you paint up to six windows at a time, which should speed things up.

It is coming... I had 4 cut so that I could show off how it can be put together but now I just have to find the time to build and paint them :)

At least the water tower and bridges are finally finished - two days late on account of single parenting duties. They are part of the "urban scatter" range.

Futurehab #3 - office tower.

This is the latest test cut of the office block. Quite a few improvements have been made
- first two stories combined into one to keep the vertical elements stronger
- third story made smaller to produce a sniper ledge
- ledges have been added to the "roof" sections to facilitate stacking
- detailing added to the "back" sides... plate glass all round on the upper levels and some doors and detailing on the ground floor

There are a few more bugs to be ironed out but I am confident that the next test cut will have them all sorted.

I also want to add a bit more detailing to this.

Next up... a paint test!

Thanks! There are a few more details needed but those are cosmetic changes. I need to add doors onto the landings so that Infinity players don't get into huge arguments for one thing...

Also, seeing as I know very little about the Infinity ruleset, how would you get to the landings? I assume that if I add a door on to each landing and maybe a trapdoor in the roof, then it is assumed that you go into the building on the ground floor, and then there is some mechanism in the rules that lets you pop out on the other floors later. A "Use The Elevator" rule or something.

Is this the case? Or should I model a climbing ladder all the way up the outside?

Models can climb without a ladder, but it's a lot slower and potentially unsafe as they can't use weapons while they climb. Ladders allow models to move along the ladder as if they were moving on level surface, so it's a lot faster and they can still shoot. However, there are models that have special skills that allow them to climb vertical surfaces like Spiderman. It's a cheap skill, but only a few models have it so there should be a benefit of having it in comparison to units not having it. So not having a ladder to the platform is perfectly fine.
Elevator rules are in the game and the way they work is that a model moves in base contact with the elevator, activates it and is teleported to the floor of his choosing, still in base contact with the elevator. So a column or cylindrical shaped elevator with clearly defined doors or access points would work fine.
Alternatively, it could just be an open platform where the model has stand on, activate it and the elevator is moved to the level of his choosing.

Yup, looking good. A simple trapdoor or even elevator "box" on top would be fine. The rules for elevators are very simple and they work kind of like teleporters - diaappear at one and come out at the other - a useful way not to have to climb into a building. I like the "OCP" detailing on the ramparts - nice touch. Some high-tech clutter, perhaps sold separately, would like great on the roof.

When do you anticipate first production? I'd like to include this in my Infinity tournament next month.

I need to get one more model cut with all the tiny changes made and use that to do the assembly instructions.
So it should go into production the week after the next.

But for you, I will cut 4 extra at the same time. Do you have an airbrush?

I am painting four of these things right now :)

No airbrush but I've improved my rattlecan-fu somewhat. An airbrush is on my list of purchases for this year. I will probably only order one or two buildings from you at the moment as cash is a bit tight, but I will put them on the publication queue for a review.

We've had a flight stand in the store for ages but never produced a model to go on top of it. Not for want of trying... but we've never been happy with the designs we've had so far.

This one might be different. The test cut will tell.

Challenge accepted

The small wings won't be folded... they will be layers of card. 3 layers = 3mm thick

In the CAD, the diagonals are not folds - they are just there to represent the polygons.

Re: [LaserCutCard] Shipping containers

http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/shop/scen ... containers

Thanks to the steady devaluation of the South African Rand, our postal costs have actually come DOWN.

Our DL range now costs $1 to ship worldwide

Our thin C5 range now costs $2 to ship worldwide

Our thicker C5 range and C4 range now cost $4 to ship worldwide.

On top of this, the entire shipping container range is being re-released - starting with the shipping containers themselves. These have had their cutting file totally redone to optimise it and as a result the 3 container set has dropped in price from $18.50 for 3 to $14.95 for 3.

For anyone who is interested in maybe trying these out but is a little unsure, here are two independent reviews, one from the UK and one from New Zealand

http://skirmishoutbreak.blogspot.co.nz/ ... iners.html

http://gravengames.co.uk/shipping-containers-review/

The rest of the container range is being redesigned to be cheaper and better. An overview of all the items in the range is available here: http://lasercutcard.co.za/2015/02/shipp ... ers-redux/

They will be in the store within the week

Instructions (shop header link) is also wrong.
http://lasercutcard.co.za/shop/download ... ctions.cfm
http://lasercutcard.co.za/shop/download ... inting.cfm
It seems the wrong ones lack the "shop/" part.

And about currency... more like USD going up (EUR down, GBP down, CAD down... too many coincidences).

by LaserCutCard » February 5th, 2015, 4:41 am

Here are some images of the paint test I did on v2 of this building.

Image

Image

I have built up v3 - this one has a whole raft of improvements including
Doors on each of the landings
Elevator access on the roof
Strip lighting around the rear doors
Better detailing on the “glass” panels
Internal bracing on the bottom floor (not shown)

The doors could be potentially placed anywhere you like on the model, they're not structurally integral?
I think the roof could use a little bit more detailing, like a trailing edge like the one on the bottom floor.
All in all the improvements look good.

You are correct... the doors can be left off or put wherever you want. Ditto with the elevator.

Both the main block and the smaller block come with ledges for the "back" edges but if you glue them on then the building does not sit flush against others if you push 2 or more together... so I left them off this one.

You can see the gaps caused by the "back" ledges here:

Hmm.. I guess it could be possible to just glue the edges with the top edge to be on the same level as the roof then it would sit flush, but you'd lose the cover from it.
Which is not that bad I think, people on the roof can always go prone to claim cover from being higher.

Re: [LaserCutCard] '$1 shipping' category

by LaserCutCard » February 10th, 2015, 1:18 pm

We've re-released two cyborg items as part of a new category of products: "$1 shipping" (I know these are not Infinity related but bear with me :geek: )

Image
Cyborg obelisk (single model)

Image
Cyborg sentinal (single model without the plastic crystal)

These are part of a new category of product called "$1 Shipping", which has been created on the web store here: http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/shop/one-dollar-shipping

The idea is to get people that have doubts about card (or doubts about ordering from a country as scarily as far away as South Africa) to give us a try.

There are 16 items so far that qualify for this shipping rate and we will gradually be moving as many of our existing products into this "$1 shipping" category as we can.

Some of the other products in this category:
