Govads are hassassins but don't have the hassassin helmet. MSV1? Be still my beating heart.

Tigers are awesome, but am I correct in that being the only Yu Jing thing there? What gives? Where is the Zhao Ying Agent? Blue Wolves?

@IJW: Didn't see the Terracotta rules here but I see them on the official forum. And the heavy Invincible wasn't in this thread (unless I missed it?) but that's old news anyway.

Most important question: when Bostria drinks does his English get better or worse? :P

That Kum biker chief almost makes me want to start a Haqq army. Or can you make a Mercenary biker gang?

Any news on a Merc army proper, for that matter?

Re: The Scoop on GenCon

by Claudius Sol » August 17th, 2014, 7:58 am

It's 1:30 am. Just got back. About 3.5 hours after I started drinking. I'm more-or-less sober and more-or-less have a hangover (thrice damned quick metabolism!). My head hurts, so I'm really not sure how much into detail I can get about today without hurting more. I'm gonna try to keep things brief and maybe recap it all later. As I have to wake up in less than 4 hours to make the Team Tournament tomorrow. Wish me luck!

So today started off rather later in the morning (8 AM). Got to the convention center around 10. Hung out with the other infinity guys in the gaming hall. Went to the conference room or whatever kind of room it is at around 10:45 AM for The Seminar. Long story short, it was amazing. Most everyone has already posted what was shown, but I'll just leave my whole album here at the end of this post. I'm way too tired to try and organize it out all clean here for you guys, sorry! I might come back and edit this post after GenCon for a more fluid view for anyone seeing this later.

Anyway, after the seminar, I went back to the Infinity booth and finally met Tabitha Lyons. She was super pleasant to be around. Very clear she was having a great time and loved Infinity just as much as you or I. I asked her for an interview for us here at Data-Sphere and she was more than happy to oblige! Here's her message:

"Awesome! So, I'm Tabitha Lyons and I work for Artyfakes and I've just flown all the way over from England to here, to America for the very first time, to GenCon and this convention is just perfect for me because I'm a gamer! I mean, I do like comics but... Games and film, that's where my heart is and its been such and wonderful experience. I'm so happy just to be involved and everyone's saying this is the biggest year yet and I just hope it continues to grow."

That's all I had recorded, but I talked with her at some length about her new found passion in Infinity. She's super excited about the game, about N3, and about helping to support the game through her cosplay at GenCon. She knew the Bolt motto by heart, knew all the poses, worked very long hours at the booth for the publicity for Infinity. She's great.

I did ask her if she'd seen the criticism in the various forums on her costume. She had and she was sorry to have disappointed those of you that found her cosplay to be lacking. She knew she could've probably done better but just didn't have the time or the luxury of pre-planning available to her.

Seeing her costume in person... it's really impressive. Super professional. Not nearly as "out of proportion" as many people who are just seeing photos think. By the way, she also agrees it's slightly off from a normal proportion, but she literally took the model and blew it up to fit a 1:1 scale. She stayed faithful to the model and did a spectacular job for the short notice of GenCon's timing, her other projects that were being done, and for doing such an elaborate cosplay. Talking to her, she didn't even have a chance to grab one of her miniatures! Luckily, Corvus Belli being the smart guys they are, already have one for her that they will ship to her back in England.

Now, she did mention that she was going to work on the costume some more once she made it back home to England. She was going to re-do the chest plate, some of the armor plates on the legs, and maybe even the helmet a little bit to get it looking better and better. That's what I remember off the top of my head. Ms. Lyons, I'm terribly sorry if I've misremembered what you had said!

>>> ALBUM GOES HERE MIGHT NOT BE DONE UPLOADING PICTURES <<

So... What did we learn from the seminar? Many things. I made a notepad file to hold it all so I could relay it all to you, Citizens of the 'Sphere!

First thing's first. Yojimbo's standing pose was a decision made because Corvus Belli listens to YOU, forumites. He wasn't originally part of their plan, but the ruckus caused on the forums told Corvus Belli that maybe it's something they should look into. They talked to their production guy and he said something along the lines of "Ehhh... Maybe. But it (the decision) has to be made soon." Lo and behold: the Yojimbo release will be a box with 4 total minis.
Yojimbo on his bike.
Yojimbo standing.
2x CrazyKoalas

Next, the Kotail is confirmed to have Courage (both in and out of Symbiont), Super Jump, and MOV 6-4. He's a beast, guys. No double boarding shotgun, which was speculated. But E/M grenades are apparantly going to be trickier in N3. He's also got Holoprojector Lv 2, guys. 2 Combi rifles is going to cost 0.5 SWC / 32 points. He is NOT fireteam:Tohaa capable.

Next, the Zhu Yong invincible.
base cost of 27 points with a Combi Rifle
BS 13
PH 12
MOV 4-4
TONS of options (we weren't even shown all of them!)
Automedkit option on the HMG slot
ARM 3
BTS 3
W 2 !!! (not just V:NWI!)
Kinematica lv 1
2 breaker pistols (more on that later)
and finally, are Linkable!

But about the breaker pistols... There's been lots of speculation, but now we know: They're viral pistols that hit at DAM 12. Nasty nasty pieces of work. On the Zu Yong HMG, that only gives an 8" range band where you are engaging at a +-0 modifier. In your standard (not far) ranges, you'll either be busting out the breaker pistols (B3 viral DAM12) or the HMG (B4 N DAM15). He's gonna be sick.

something called a yan huo invincible, too...

2007-2010 were tough years

beasts of war video gave big growth for 2011
dangerous time because of the decisions that needed to be made

estimated 25% growth (probably pessimistic because from Fernando)

30 something employees

Alex, in production
Daf, really nice guy, programmed the software that corvus belli uses for production
Fausto, sculptor, very good attitude
Fernando
Jesus, made Infinity Army
Koni
Palanka, worked a lot on ITS
Riog, made the tohaa, now a digital sculptor

O-yoroi was first digital sculted model

corvus very "bro company" not super capitalistic
bolts, santiago knights, tomcats, forum survives, warcor, fan birthday cake, Fernando did Dexter Schiller's laundry

We also got shown the September releases!
Fusiliers (Hacker, Missile, Sniper, HMG)
Kasym Beg, Kum Chieftain
Kornak Gazarot, superior warrior officer
Mercenaries Warcors (not the Magno lookalike. The less handsome one)
New ALEPH models: Dactyls
Moto.Tronica scenery pack

Corvus belli showed a few bits of art by Reynan Sanchez who they've lost contact with. Unfortunately, I'm not able to show you the art, but let's just say it's been kinda sprinkled around every now and then and people are wondering about those certain beautiful pieces of art.

Next in line are some holo ads that are going to be released later. Each one was approved to be fluff accurate by Guttier himself!

Then we got a view of the Top 10 starter sales! See my pictures for more on that.

But the big news: New Combined Army starter. This is big, guys.
3x Unidrons, think dakini, they have a new weapon called Plasma Carbine, the line infantry of the box
1x Fracta, it looks a lot like Kodali, these are Tohaa that are working alongside the EI. They aren't called Tohaa, though, they're called Sygmaa. Super menacing name, huh?
1x Maakrep, looks like medium infantry perhaps, some sort of "priest" type gal
1x Umbra Lagtes, EVIL to the core, very menacing, new race of the CA, "super nasty", comes with a K1 Combi and G:Mnemonica! He's a super elite guy

USAriadna Grunts, MI ARM3, heavy flamethrower ligghtshotgun for 10 points

Awh blast.. I really find it heartbreaking to hear Tabitha takes the flack from some people around here so serious. It is totally unjustified in my opinion! She has put much work and effort into this, and that shows. She shouldn't be disappointed about it!

I hope she gets the miniature painted by the CB painting team themselves! :) That would really be something to brag about!

Agreed. She did a fantastic job. The outfit is very well done. The fact of the matter is that the Bolt model is just not a realistic armored human shape. Which is fine. The model looks great and doesn't need to be realistic, especially at that scale. But expecting a human's body to conform to that, and even a very talented costumer to match that, is just stupidly unrealistic. She did a very good job and should be proud of her work.

Talking to the guys... Well, Corvus has made one economically dependent decision ever. It concerns the Exrah. I'll trust you can draw the correct conclusion.

Cool. 2 out of 4 models close to useless and none of the 4 is selling well... Never liked Exrah anyways, even though the spacebug theme could be so cool if done right.

As the guy who started the whole "the costume is weirdly proportioned" thing, I'd like to concede that it's entirely possible for a costume to seem weirdly proportioned in a still image, but seem much more normal on a person who is alive and moving. Stillness accentuates oddities of shape; movement and aliveness mitigates them.

Also, no news on Tunguska? No release date for the rest of the grenzer profile and models? :(
