Coyotebd's Miniatures

by Coyotebd » July 28th, 2014, 4:15 am

I recently posted this on Corvus Belli's forum before I found out it was going away.

I started playing Infinity in 2011 and painted a number of miniatures before being absorbed by a wicked Dota II addiction. I'm on the road to recovery, I barely watched any of TI4, and have nearly finished painting the Deadzone boxed set. Now I'm looking at finally completing my Infinity Nomad force. This is what I have, painted from 2011-2013. I originally planned to paint the miniatures in an army-painter style but I got caught up trying new blending techniques on the Zero and ground to a halt on the Zond before remembering the plan. The Algucile HMG and Intruder are both painted in the quick style I plan to use going forward. I think. These miniatures are so nice it feels like I really should take my time but I hate playing with unpainted miniatures and I really want to play this game. Anyway, enough talking: miniatures go!

Especially the Zond is amazing. Such smooth painting, whoa!

But the rest, like the Zero, are awesome, too!

Holy combat camo, batman! That Zero really pops to life with your paintjob. The rest are nice too, but I'm a bit biased since that Zero is one of my favorite sculpts :)

Thanks for the kind words. I also like the Zero the best. Sometimes painting is a smooth progression of skill and sometimes you get a spike of one-time skill that'll take months or more of hard work to be able to do consistently. That was what the blending on the Zero's helmet felt like. It was like for that brief moment I was painting at a higher level.

Then I painted the Zond and had so much trouble with the blending on the main body.

I hear what you're saying about the combat camo. I also play historicals so I've definitely embraced the chance to use bright colours.

Although the Zond isn't far from the studio model. Many of the sections are in the same colour-family as the studio model:
