What is it like to actually play on a setup like this? I imagine the corridors and lack of elevation change the game somewhat. What is your take on the play experience?

There rubbish paints mate.

I'll not be using them anymore. There only 200ml so don't offer value for money.

As for infinity on this table I haven't played a normal game on it yet.

The doctor will see you now!

Well these beds ...... I've put off making them because they were totally not worth buying the metal wheels and supports are of poor casting and the resin bed tops are full of bubbles and other cast deformities.

All in all not happy with them for the price or even the paint job I just slapped on them tonight. If I wasn't hosting an Infinity tournament shortly I wouldn't have painted them at all.

Ohh well lets see how this table fairs in competitive ITS shall we. Its got Lifeblood, Frontline and Supplies getting played on by at least 6 lucky people or unlucky depends on how the feel.

That looks bad ass! Good to see someone getting some Infinity games in on it.
We need a battle report, or at least a summary for that game. How did your players like playing on it? What problems did they experience, what did they have to do to change their play style and adapt to a closed space table like that?

I'm hoping to finally have my level 2 + additions BHC in July. I'm going to be doing it up like yours, but painting the outside walls in a weathered green to look like Old/surplus military installation.

Great Work VisOne!

Not a single bad report about it at all.

No lists where made for it.

No lists suffered from it.

We just ignored the stupid rules about 'large bases' not fitting through small doors and everything went a treat mate.

Grenades would bounce off a wall once and continue their movement if they dispersed.

Airborne Deployment would come in where ever they could that was feasible (through the vents/skylights what ever) at the closest point to their normal entry onto a battlefield so AD2 would walk in from the East or West straight through a wall basically to enter the game.

Common sense won out every time because Infinity is a game for real life gamers not neck beardy dickheads.

"Neck beardy dickheads" Ok, that earns you a quote point!

That really is a great looking set of terrain. Your paint job and weathering is superb, I can almost hear the Aliens music!

All I can say is, you gotta get a game in on that terrain...after all the work that you put in on it...you just gotta! :-)

Woo! My 2 Level One + extras sets of BHC shipped out yesterday. Now I need to figure out a paint scheme and assembly line my stuff like you did yours.

I'll try to put up a thread detailing mine also. I hope it is half as good as yours turned out.

I have 3 days off next week in the middle of the week. I plan on going out to get paint materials and organize for painting on one day, then paint everything the next day, then hopefully assemble into basic painted sections the third day.
This is assuming that the weather stays at a comfortable* 95F all week without rain.

Your thread is really inspirational, and makes me confident I can get it all done.

*Comfortable if you are used to sub saharan desert climes or maybe living in a tropical jungle. For the rest of us it's friggin HOT.!

Ah, 95 isn't bad as long as you're not working in it. Assuming low humidity, that is. I'm like 300 miles north of Las Vegas, still in that same desert, so we go from 95 to 65 as soon as the sun goes down.

Sitting around in the shade watching the paint dry on your minis, OTOH, it's just about perfect. Especially if you've got a Summer Shandy (beer+lemonade) in hand. :ubergeek:

Unfortunately I'm pretty near the Gulf Coast. So my humidity will be in the 80+% range. So I can expect a humid, muggy mess if there's no front to roll through and push it all away.
I think I can make it work while sipping on some ice cold Shiner Bock though ;)

My BHC set has arrived!
Image

I'm hoping to get started on them soon. Trying to find an appropriate light greenish/blue to use for the walls. I plan on going with a light grey for the floors and supporting structure, with a camo green exterior. Surplus/old military look.

The light green you're referring to is called "Institutional Green" or "Seafoam Green"

Heh.. yeah. Still trying to decide if I want to go with that wall color or not. I'm trying to imagine a color that would be used as an interior coating color for modular military buildings, or surplussed versions.

I'm in the US if anyone has a color/brand idea.

So, I found a green I liked in acrylic spray. Unfortunately it's "OMFG WTF BBQ!" expensive. $10 US a can. Liquitex Professional Spray Viridian Hue #7 Permanent. Great coverage, great color, and since it's water based acrylic I can work it with other colors or blending if I really wanted to.

First test straight section. I'll be doing the exterior walls in a camo green color. I'm trying to decide if I want to do weathering on the interior with oils or enamels. If I do, I'll have to gloss coat every friggin inch after I do any chipping, before airbrushing on the enamel. Uggg.

Dang that's pricey, but how much will one can cover?

OK, that's an AWESOME color. If you get good coverage out of that can (please tell me it's a big 400ml can, not one of those 85ml minis!), I'd go with it.

And my answer to oils for weathering on the inside is "oh, HELL M*F*ing NO!. You'd have to use so much gloss it wouldn't even be funny. I'd honestly expect like 5 coats of gloss to get sufficient sealing!

12 oz, whatever that is. :P Oh, 400ml. Official site lists them for 11.99. I would check graffiti shops, if airbrush or dumb paint pistol is no option.

Watercolors instead of oil. Or just pigments. Simpler sealing and less chemicals.

It's a 400ml can.

I got all 12 straights done so far. I think both cans will be enough to do my entire set. I'll just have to make sure to set my pieces very close to ensure maximum coverage and minimum loss of spray.

So, thoughts on washing these things for detail/weathering? I'm concerned that if I use a watercolor/acrylic wash over this with no sealer it will just completely muddy up the color instead of flowing into and setting apart the detailing.

I guess I can take one of the smaller sections and try out a wash on it. Ideas on color? Black/brown mix?

And I think I'll start my own thread and stop cluttering up VisOne's inspirational thread here with my ramblings.

P.S. I found the cans on sale right now for $5.99 each. But with shipping I would have to buy 3+ to make them cheaper than just going to the local store for the chain (Jerry's Artarama) and buying them in person.

Simple answer is do you like the look of my pieces as seen in my pictures?

If you do then wash away my friend. Because I used nothing but water mixed with cheap school arts acrylics and then added it where I thought 1 water my infiltrate a underground base or 2 would naturally pool on the floor if it was dripping from pipe work.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread by myself.

Sponge Weather liberally with a Neutral Grey and then a lesser amount with Dark Brown and finally even less Black

Wash: 40 parts Water, 5 parts Dark Brown, 1 part Red and 1 part Orange mix vigorously

Wash is then applied to areas where rain water/seepage would naturally occur. Example around corners and out of air/circulation vents.

VisOne: do you think the details are distinct enough without doing a wash to darken all the flooring/wall cuts?
That is what I want to stand out more, as it looks like it all blends in on mine, and I really want the detail to stand out.

Then I wanted to go back in and do some stain/pool weathering over that.

I plan on sponge chipping to give it a worn away look in certain areas.

I guess I'll try it a couple different ways and see what works best for me.
