Seriously CB?! :D A short campaign? That is going to be awesome! Will we see those sectorials released earlier than Acheron Falls? Huangdi and Svalarheima? *wishlisting!*

Cool, i'm getting chills of excitement...

Wonder if this will be a book, or a PDF, or a Dire Foes style boxset. If the Nomads are involved then there better be some new Tunguska units!!

I'm guessing GenCon. But that's a guess! Nothing official.

Looks like an Infinity Starter Box.

and the previous images lead me to believe it's a Pan-O vs. Nomad starter.

Looks like 7 troops per faction, one neutral troop, a game mat, circle template, dice, and a rulebook.
In the hexagonal future, there is only war.

The small booklet says '3rd edition quick start rules' so it's presumably the new QSR. In which case there will be no problems getting hold of it by itself...

This is possibly the best news about Infinity I have heard in the last 2.5 years. A starter set will make my life way easier as an organizer/promoter of the game.

Awesome news. Though it would be odd to see a game starter box with metal miniatures. (Not that I expected CB to use anything but metal)

I would absolutely love it if the box had plastic minis. And I know i'm not alone! :D Even though a substantial part of the community loves metal and the subject has been flogged to death. I'd salute CB for such an awesome curve ball from nowhere. But yeah, 99% sure they will be metal. I've seen a few prospective new players put off by metal, as they are so used to GW plastic. I don't mind it anymore, but I rarely can be arsed to convert these days as a result.

Anyway, excited about this. Nice work CB! :D

Haven't seen a game starter box shipped with metal minis since Legions of Steel, back in the early 1990s!

I could go for PanO v Nomads, depending on what Nomad models we're talking about... Paint up the Fusiliers in that gawdawful pink&orange with purple highlights "dazzle" pattern ( :suicide: ) from "When Diplomacy Fails..." Since I'd use fluorescent colors to pull it off!

As you can guess, not much of a PanO fan.

This makes the most sense so far.

Speculation on the forces has been running rampant, but the most logical I've seen has been - new vanilla Pan Oceania and Nomad starters, and a new Dire Foes box. This covers what you see in the set - 7 models per side (starters are 6 models, then add a Dire Foe character) and a civilian (from the Dire Foe set), lets them release the 3 boxes separately for vets (I'm assuming they will just throw the 3 boxes in the big box), and also finishes up the human vanilla starter resculpts.

That makes sense, maybe toss in some cardboard buildings and such for terrain and you're probably looking in the $100 to $150 range.

Not bad at all in my opinion .

Cardboard soldiers? Restic? HIPS? Single(/low number of) part(s) metals? Will it replace separate starter packs? Have exclusive miniatures? :curious:

It's 2.5x starters boxes just in "miniatures" (7 + 7 + 1 = 15). 103 euros if priced the same than current metal ones which are already discounted (~6.16) vs single mini blisters (9.25+), plus all the other things which would be free or raising it beyond that number. I know CB wants to reduce SKUs, but I don't like the upselling that seems to be used for that purpose.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

I think one of the comments I saw elsewhere was rumoring that this box would include a new PanO generic starter, new Nomad generic starter, and a Dire Foe pack.

So wildly speculating...maybe we'll see the new Fusiliers and Alguacils?

Couldn't resist. But real talk;

I'd say Corvus Belli has a pretty big markup in its pewter models than most companies, so even with the usual discount/loss leader of a two player starter set, they'd do fine. Perhaps it all just works out to the Dire Foes models being the value add-on exclusive? Speculation, of course.

It's not like there's 40-50 minis in the box, like say a GW starter. Hence I don't see why CB'd suddenly switch to plastic, as they've been abundantly clear about the fact that they prefer metal in almost every way: durable material, great material for high-quality minis, much easier (and much cheaper!) to produce than plastic... the list goes on.

But on topic... can't WAIT to see what's in the box. And if it's a starterset... then N3 can't be far off, either...

two vanilla starters is my guess, if it really goes like that! :p plus one Dire Foes-like boxed set, makes 15 miniatures. The starter pack gives you all the things you need as well!
I'm hoping for a Wildcat Boarding Shotgun + Alguaciles. :') Than I'll only need a hacker, and I can finally keep that HRL out of the Wildcat links.

My guess would be

3x Fusiliers + 1x Orc with Multi-Rifle + 2?

and

3x Alguacils + 1x Mobile Brigada with Multi-Rifle + 2?

Definitely a Nisse model in the PanO. It is Svalarheima after all.

Honestly, the only thing it would make sense for CB to make in plastic would be terrain.

When you only need 5 models of a single type in any given game, it's just not cost-effective to do. I mean, it's $5000 or so to get an injection-molding tool cut, so you'd need to sell ~10k models in a year to cover all the costs.

A CB version of the old Cities of Death building boxes, or like what Mantic did for Deadzone? That would make excellent sense, since each player would want to buy enough terrain to fill a single table (as a minimum).

But since CB has partnered with a lot of terrain companies, that would likely be a non-starter. Maybe even contractually prohibited on CB's part.

Even if there was no contractual obligation, they would piss a lot of people off if they did something like that.

I think if CB wanted to be in the business of making terrain they would have entered into it a few years ago when there wasn't really anyone making it for Infinity. I'd be shocked if they made a move into this area now
