Good work, man. Those group shots are particularly impressive - especially the haqq. Keep up the great work!

Que? Already mentioned that.

VisOne wrote:Feed back is welcome because these are finished 'painting' still needs a clear coat varnish then its just needs to go one its BACK 2 BASE-IX Checkered Plate base to be completely done though.

I won't rebase any of these Nomad models until I've painted and varnished everything since once they go onto their resin bases I'll not put them to brush again; unless its to fix a bit of damage.

Anyway moving on;

Half painted things yay!

Image

Thoughts: They are all rangers and will continue to all be rangers is I want them all painted quickly yet still maintain a consistent colour scheme that ties them all together. Thus why even the Zero's, Specktres and other helmeted models all have orange helmets.

I have also found this absurdly bright colour draws the eye away from the black blocked out parts of the models making the fact I'm really just painting 1/2 to a 1/3 of a model less obvious.

These still need washes, more work on the faces and their bases but this is most of the work done.

Look in awe at my shitty painting.

Paints Used: GW Foundation, GW Layering, Tamiya Colour, Vallejo Model, Vallejo Game & Secret Weapon Washes

Method: Block out the main details I.E. helmets and with the GW Foundation paints, pick out extra details like weapons with the GW Layering, Tamiya Colour, Vallejo Model & Vallejo Game then hit different areas with Secret Weapon Wash either Heavy Body Black or Dark Sepia.

Bases: Back 2 Base-ix Checker Plate which has being painted with GW Layering paints then gets a Army Painter Strong Tone layer of the surface to shade and seal. Finally after the model is based on them they get another wash of Secret Weapon Wash either Heavy Body Black or Dark Sepia and a little oil/blood splatter for variation.

Each miniature might have 3 or so hours given to them over the month but that's just because I'm a slow painter and get called away allot.

All Done!

This is some WIP shots I'm doing for the Infinity Australia Facebook Page competition for this month.

The entry is only the White Undercoated Mech-Engineer the one in the middle. The Zhanshi Hacker on the left and the Yisheng Doctor o nthe right are not my work although I am trying to match the colours used based on what I have. I'm pushing myself quite allot here to try and match the work done by the previous owner.

Maybe it's the pics, but these guys seem lightyears ahead of your previous models! Better shading, better paint application... or did you just learn a lot lately?

No I'm just extremely lazy and have painted basically ALL of my Nomads very quickly with little or no consideration for how they look close up. That and I'm 27 and stopped table top gaming for about 15 years and didn't paint in that time at all.

Now since I'm trying to match another person scheme who has used some interesting highlighting techniques and a little blending I'm pushing myself a little more. I'll tell you right now its infuriating painting something; then accidentally rubbing the paint off or putting some wrong colour there and having to paint it again though.

Le Sigh,

I brought a fair chunk of Yu Jing models painted off another forum member about a year ago now.

Image

Ladies and gents; a little picture on how not to base your infinity miniatures.

Yeap that's right if your burying their heads in flock and lichen then your doing it wrong.

Lucky for me this is the final You Jing miniature I have that's on it's original base from that purchase.

Also;

Image

SOOOOOO MUCH STILL TO DO! That is over 20 blisters and god knows how many models once you add up the box sets + double or triple model blisters.

I think your stuff looks great. A combo of awesome terrain and tabletop quality paintjobs trumps cool mini or not ultra-detail every time (in my book).

Of course, if you combine great terrain with cool mini or not ultra-detail, well then....I'm not worthy.

EDIT: by the way, the caution tape facing indicator looks perfect on your terrain.

When I started mini gaming 40+ years ago I vowed to never buy more lead until what I had on hand was painted. I did very well until I got into Infinity a couple months ago. Now I have 3 starter boxes, 1 T.A.G. box, and 23 blisters sitting in a box, and 15 models in various stages of paint work. BLAST you Corvus Belli! I am soooo weak when it comes to the models of Infinity!
Anyway, thanks gang for all the pics of your nicely painted models. I appreciate the sharing. I just got a new camera and am figuring out what works best for photographing my painted models. When I get it figured out I'll try to post some pics here.

HA!

What do you do when your coming up blank on that 'push your abilities' model your doing? Procrastinate of course; by speed painting a whole bunch of other models instead.

Image
Send in the clowns! Worst Haqqislami models in the entire range; can't even be arsed painting their faces they are so mongoloid.

Image
A mailed fish to the face! Also known as guess which one is a Hafza. Also never ever ever ask me to paint another one of those bloody Janissary that come with the Haqqislam starter set. They have to be one of my most hated models now there are 3 in this photo. The one of the left had his sword break off. The one on the middle left has the arms of a Muyib and the one of the far right had to pinned and re-scuplted to look just a little bit different!

Image
Then there is THIS guy ......... ye' olde' Ghulam sculpt that is not in line with the new range.

Ohh well at least they are all out of the way now.

I've got the Ghulam Hacker on my painting table right now and the old Najjarun Engineer as well. They both fall into the 'THIS' guy range for me as well.

You might want to paint the visors on the Janissaries it would improve their look with little effort.

Maybe in another world if I was going to paint any more of them. If I never touch another Janissary I'll be a happy man.

Anyway more crappy painting.

Got a couple more models to photo but I've hit the wall again. The Hassassin Lasiq I've being trying to paint for like 13 months now has once again done me in. Can't do the model justice it always looks ###### once I've done it.

Sigh,

That Lasiq has being 13 months in painting and it looks like utter crap. Its undoubtedly my hit the wall model every time I go near it I give up painting again.

The Fiday well I'm not happy with her but I'm not unhappy either. The photo doesn't show it too well since its a camera phone shot but she is grey with scorpion green veins on the cloth.

For whatever reason I really like some of the older models, many of which I like better than the new ones. Maybe it's because I'm old and they remind me a bit more of old school lead. I dunno. But for example, I really like that Najarrun. And based on your picture, I have a feeling I'd really like that Ghulam HMG.

I know you hate them, but I think you did a good job on those Janissary, especially the one that's not waving. I like that they're not the same. Isn't there an older sculpt of a rifle Janissary that could bring you up to a full link team of non-identical figs? I know, I know, you're not touching another Janissary! ;)

And I agree the couple of minutes it would take to paint their visors could really make them pop. Not a bad time investment imho since you can always proxy them for Azra'il or Asawira for added versatility.

EDIT: Oh, you know what I did with my son's Lasiq? I glued four rare earth magnets in the hollow under her base. I usually do one for storage, anyway, but by giving her four I can make her stick to scenery by sandwiching the scenery between her magnets and a washer (or her magnets and more magnets for an even stronger stick). It doesn't always work (some scenery's too thick) but for the cost of a few magnets it's kind of neat for climbing plus, especially for those turns where she doesn't have enough orders to get where she's going and she's caught half-way up a wall, or on pitched roofs where she wouldn't normally be able to remain without sliding off.

I already own them as well. I picked up a huge set of Haqqislam off a local gamer getting out of Infinity and it had a very healthy chunk of the Haqqislam range from around a year ago. Then a little bit more here and there thus why I've ended up with 4 or the starter boxes in various states of disrepair.

I probably will never really field a Janissary link team and if it will be filled with Hafza anyway to make it cost effective so yeah done is done. XD

I've added another faction!

My first finished Ariadna Miniature.

Will come back to these models later when the force is complete and look at doing some highlights on the weapons and some OSL to tie the force together. They will also get some MiniNatur or Army Painter grass tufts on the bases to help mix it up a bit.

A little group progress I knocked out last night. Pretty rough haven't and don't mind the soulless Line Kazak staring deep into your soul in the background I'll go back and do all their eyes and what not when I get the other 3 models I have to this stage as well.
