LoF and Rooftops

by DarthMels » April 5th, 2016, 1:03 am

So I understand how scenery/other models can affect LoF to an enemy, but what about LoF against models that are on top of buildings? Do the same rules of normal LoF (like if you can see me, I can see you) or does this end up getting a bit more complicated? Is LoF from the model on the building more open than the guy on the ground, other than obvious blocking rules? I remember some talk about elevation rules, but I'm not 100% certain and still pretty new to the game. If there's been a topic about this already, I apologize for redundancy and please feel free to post it here. Thank you in advance. :)

The basic of "if you can see me, I can see you" stands for the buildings, too.

If you are in elevated position, you still need to be able to see a 3x3mm (roughly) fragment of the target's cylinder from any place within your cylinder to draw LoS to the target. Just as if you both were on the ground level.

Now, the only difference elevation makes (apart from providing a better observation spot) is in gaining cover. If you are Prone along a roof's edge and higher than your opponent (and my group interperets this as "his silhouette isn't taller than your building" - getting flat on top of a freight container will do it for human-sized models, but a large model, eg. a TAG, will be twice as tall!), you are entitled to the Partial Cover bonuses.
