ITS 2015

by Dozer » March 10th, 2015, 2:14 pm

The folks at Mayacast said that ITS 2015 was due today and the new site has a post about ITS but the ITS link is down.

Is there any other news on ITS 2015.

Shiny.
Any news on Army5...?
They say there will be Heaven and the Fount of Kausar,
That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand

In ITS, yes. They've been specialists since the first ITS year.

For some reason, many people assumed that the RULEBOOK missions would have specialists using skills not listed in the book (like chain of command).

Why do you feel insulted?

I don't like ITS 2015 either, but then again I'm not a tournament player.
I'd love to hear, however, why other people dislike it.

Had a quick read through it ... I didn't like ITS before (didn't play it to be honest), I don't think it'll change
SPECIALISTS ... MOAR SPECIALISTS !!!
Well, I prefer Knights and Robots and swords 'n stuff, not a bunch of flimsy paramedics and FOs that you're taking for the sole purpose of scoring objectives

I just gave it a quick read and have mixed feelings. There are some improvements.

Scenarios must be announced before list building. This is very much in the spirit of Infinity and allows players to get their head around the more complicated ones.

Certain specialists are being encouraged, doctors and engineers. Forcing specialists to be used disarms the lists a bit, which may be a good thing.

Some of the scenarios are not so horribly complicated.

There is also stuff I dislike. I loathe the classified objectives. Dont like the idea that tje quality of painting affects ranking points.

Reading the scènarios would be easier if a short fluffy text at the start would describe what it is all about.

Painting is a purely optional extra in much the same way as doubles is though.
edit:
Ahh if you mean effecting overall elo I can see where you are coming from, theres little to stop people from gaming the elo ranking if they had the inclination anyway though.

Agreed - A synopsys or mission brief would be nice and establish some resonable context for the particular scenario.

@Errhlie
Maybe, "insult" isn't a proper word, I used it in positive sense.
Frightened, pleased etc. English isn't my native language.
At first glance document pleased me with variety and simplicity of missions. Yeah, most of them are buttonpushing. Buy I don't see this being a problem.
During last four months I organised two tournaments. My local club is very hammerheaded and it was a tough job to push Infinity especially in pre-N3-state.
For former I designed some simple missions for 150 points lists, the last was based on the rulebook, but players refused to play classifieds.
Now I'm looking towards full ITS tourney supported with Army V!

M2Cat: After viewing the rulebook missions, I am relieved that the ITS missions are a bit simpler. You don't want a fast paced tournament game being bogged down by complicated mission descriptions.

I am not too impressed with what you rightly describe as buttonpushing. More imagination would have been great in this regard.

The guys in your club are right to play classifieds, they are bogus and unnecessary. I think you are well advised to keep on inventing your own missions, keep them simple so people stay interested.

I like a lot of the current scenarios. My weekly group, made up of complete Rookies and some with a bit of experience, are looking at the scenarios with quite of bit of interest. Also we havn't had anny issue with the classifed objectives, since a few of us have played games like Heavy Gear - which is just that.

Any word on any new ITS 2015 objective marker bundles from the various partners or non-partners? Warsenal had a ITS bundle but it's gone now. I like having scenery as my markers instead of tokens - really helps flesh out the table.

yes, tokens are pretty lame as they do not appear as physical objects. If you have something like an antenna, it should be there and provide cover, etc.

I think there is too much antenna and console stuff in the missions. It makes the forces feel like TV repair people. Push a console here, fix the antenna there, maybe the reception will become better then.

I'm going to poke Warsenal about the ITS kit, can't buy one until the end of the month, though. May have to get a Paradiso scenery kit instead.
