N3 profiles for units

by Errhile » November 17th, 2014, 1:58 pm

As for now, BoW has published profiles for Makaul and Dasyus.

Well, not a lot, but always something :)

The number of variants did not changed.

Dasyu:
Statline - no changes.
Skills - no changes (keep in mind we don't know what the skills are exactly going to mean in N3).
Equipment - no changes.
SWC cost - no changes.
Points cost:
Boarding Shotgun now 1 point cheaper than Combi Rifle.
Combi Rifle still the same cost.
Hacking Device (unknown type) 6pts cheaper, i.e. half of what we were used to as "hacking device price tag" in 2ed.
    Multi Sniper Rifle 6pts cheaper.

Makaul:
Statline: CC boosted by +3, no other changes.
Skills: added Kinematika L2.
Equipment - no changes.
SWC cost - no changes.
Points cost:
Combi Rifle 1pt cheaper than in 2ed.
    All other profiles 2pts cheaper.

Dasyus FO got two points cheaper as well, they're now the same cost as a baseline Dasyus.
This means Mines and FO are the same cost, which makes more sense than before.

I totally agree with the cheaper Hacker options.
+12 points for such a situational piece were insane.

Moreover, the ITS '14 ruleset unleashed a ravenous rush to costy hackers, expecially for some sectorials, with deep consequences on the whole meta and tournament lists.

I think +6 is more balanced, while still rightly annoying, as to not let the hacker option feel like it's free.

I still have no definite opinion about the other changes.

Makaul are going to be rather scary, assuming I'm reading Kinematica L2 correctly (providing a 4" move in ARO).

Still makes me wonder what the Haramaki/Domaru/Crane will end up looking like. I'm expecting +3CC and Kinematica L1 or L2, and Hyperdynamics L1 would be awesome if a bit broken (dodging 4" on a 17?!?)

More the 4" dodge than a 2" dodge.

So any unit that have gone up in price? Or all equal or lower so far?
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

So far - everything lower or equal. But keep in mind - I've seen only the Makaul, Dasyu and (incomplete regarding the list of equipment options) Hac Tao (cheaper by the reduction of Multi and Hacker costs).

What about Op:Icestorm? Doesn't it have a handful profiles that should be N3 ready?

Re: N3 profiles for units

Good point.

However, they include only the statline and one equipment profile, with no AVA. E.g. Algulaciles and Fusiliers are presented in Icestorm with their Rifle profiles only.
Both cost 10 points, seem to have no changes in stats & skills, but the Algulaciels suddenly all got Cubes...

also, keep in mind the profiles in Icestorm can be still missing some information.

Auxilia seem to didn't have changed.
Akalis Sikh got a +1 CC boost plus EM CCW, and -1 total point cost.
Nisse Sniper is 7pts cheaper.
ORC Lt. is nw MOV 4-4 (with unchanged point cost, I guess what he saved on chaper Multi Rife he spent on increased mobility).
Jotum is 1pt cheaper and seems to have lost his DEP (though in the BoW demo game Kilian was trying to use it, before Bostria suggested him the Multi HMG with an EXP round had better range)... Also, there seems to be no discount for the Multi HMG...

Interventors now cost 2 points less, and their BTS got a huge boost to the whopping 9.
Spektr Rifleman got BTS of 3 (it was null in 2ed), lost his underbarrel Light Shotgun, and is 2 points cheaper.
Mobile Brigada Lt. got MOV boosted to 4-4 and is now 4pts cheaper.
Iguana seems unchanged, save for the Operator now moving 4-4.

Auxbot BTS3 went to 0 and ARM went up to 1.

Also Jotum seems to keep his DEP, at least it's listed.

Spektr also adds Multiterrain.

Nisse switches his multiple terrain choices to just Multiterrain.

The Hac Tao HMG went up by a point, probably due to keeping the new Nanopulser sidearm while the old/current HMG loadout 'lost' the Light Shotgun sidearm.

As a fellow to be often found on a receiving end of a Hac Tao, I can't really say I'm sorry because of that ;)... while hardly any of the chages revealed so far affects the troops I use (save for Iguana Operator and Mobile Brigada, and neither of them makes it to the table often! Cubes on Algulaciles - well, it is yet to be seen how much Cube will affect a gameplay in N3), I must say I generally like what I'm seeing.

Cubes let you use Command Tokens to re-roll failed healing rolls.

Cool! Let's hear it for items now having an in-game reason for existence, not just an in-campaign reason for existence.

Though that does lead to some nasty mental imagery: Y17 Trauma Override Harnesses, anyone?

Yep, and then you meet a copy of yourself sleeved up from an obsolete, non-updated backup you made somewhere along the line...

Sleeve, fleshbag, meatpuppet, lhost, whatever.

It's all the same.

Besides, to call re-housing the persona into a new body "re-sleeving" sounds a lot more natural than to try and make Lhost into a verb. Let alone try and pronounce it without your liver trying to strangle you.

Lucky man... in my case, probably a violent reduction of the number of my ensleevements would happen. Very, very quickly. I really doubt I'd be able to bear such an irritating chap as myself! ;)

So... bodies are called Lhosts.

The process of going into a new Lhost is called Resurrection.

Right? Or am I missing something here?

This.

And while the PanOoze and Haqq folks might use the term "Resurrection," I'd be willing to bet that the Nomads and Yu Jing use "re-sleeve." Aleph probably uses Re-sleeve, as well. At least the posthumans.
