Weapon Ranges!

+6 short range confirmed for shotguns.
HMGs get the same -3/+0 close range as Sniper Rifles.
Pistols and Grenades get 8" of +3.

Hmm. Close-range nerfing on the HMG means a shotgun ARO on a relative difference of +9 has about even chances with a full HMG burst within 8". Youch.

+6 for Boarding Shotgun. Well blow all, I guessed something right.

Looks like the ranges are designed to make heavy weapons troops more vulnerable to a close range assault, either with CC or assault weapons. Nice.

mhh, Spitfires got a little hit as well. But I am very happy for the Al'hawwa know.

I wonder if the LSG get that +6 Bonus too?

EDIT: and Damn, X-Visor might get really good. Makes me happy for the Druze. :toot:

And whats the difference between the Molotok and the Spitfire now?

A good question, btw. Maybe less -6 range no one would ever use anyway?

The +6 on Shotguns is really cool. Now, the Skirmishers with BS get really good.

But the HMG getting capped at 48"??
Is this the final thing? So, HMG no longer could be considered a "heavy" weapon...

Edit:
Sobakaa wrote:A good question, btw. Maybe less -6 range no one would ever use anyway?

Well, really?
I use the -6 a lot, especially with PanO and Aleph, with those high BS... The -6 isn't much of a deal, when you get your target outside of cover and you have BS of 13+

From what Bostria said, it applies to all shotguns. Means the Haqq trademark LSG under the rifle becomes damn dangerous up close!

Sweetness.

Oh this is so nice. The adjusted ranges on the heavier weapons are nice, as is the Shotgun buff, but I really like the range increase on Grenades. 8" is a much more easily used range, I think.

As for the difference between the Molotok and Spitfire, I'd guess that the Molotok is getting a -3 up to 8"? The Spitfire's main advantage over the Molotok was always that it could internally adjust for short ranges whereas the Molotok only shoots well at the longer ones.

I use the -6 a lot
I'd go do some maths but -6 for bs12 vs. cover and maybe occasional mimetism sounds pretty ineffective.

Yeah, I watched the video after asking too. I am a little sad though, that the Spektr seems to has lost his LSG now.

As for the grenades, I really hope does super cheap Warbands get some kind of buff in N3. Adjusting the price seems like an easy fix.

With some maneuvring I quite often are able to get some targets into LOF without cover. And that's 3 hits on 9 with Achilles or Asura with MultiRifle. Quite cool, if you ask me, especially when the target only has BS12 or less plus my cover or ODD

A buff? Really? If anything, they need a nerf.
But to be honest, on a good table, those WBs are just fine as they are - a thread, but quite easy to be handled, if you pay attention during deployment.

The quick fix for cheap suicidal lists like 38 pretas + lieutenant would be AVA8 cap.

As mentioned elsewhere, for a Surprise Attack from cover that'd be a BS18 Burst 2 attack with a -9 BS modifier on any return fire (plus range bands). For the secondary weapon on the model...

This all looks really good, it really adds a lot of variety. Pistols got a huge buff, people might actually use them a lot more often now. I wonder how the assault pistol's range will change.

Guess I just have to play more Shasvastii than.

Question: theoretically a +12 to BS and a minus -12 to the target, would be possible, right? Or does the 12 cap mean +6 to -6?

El estimado Sr. Massacre is looking a lot more dangerous now. Buff to Grenades and Boarding Shotgun? Yes please!

The Shotgun seems to be the only weapon that will get +6 according to Bostria. Which makes sense really, it's halfway between a direct template weapon and a normal weapon.

I enjoy the HMG change. TR with HMG is suddenly more exposed, find a good angle to get at least into +0 on his weapon, cover for (-3) and you have decent shot at it. Let the loose the Major Rao.

I'm not seeing the hype for Boarding shotgun, buy my AD doesn't have mimetism and my MI are on the slow side.

Overall nice changes.

It's a cap on the modifier for that model. So +12/-12 would be possible. Although +12 is pretty hard to reach outside of multiple combats.

And what's so bad about B4 on 6 for non-elite versus B1 on -9 ARO? Still sounds quite cool for me and most of the time, your opponent will choose to dodge instead of trying to hit on a 3...

Well, we all do know about those lists, but did anybody see them more than once (as a joke)?

Yeah, the Shotguns could become quite cool. Especially for peeking around corners and such, where you often get your opponent out of cover - so you'll get B2 on >=18 (for a lot of models) versus B1 on >=9 (or less if using Skirmishers or such) - sounds very cool for me. Still some risk involved but the maths are so much on your side...

nicely done....I think they did a really good job with these - will be fun to see how all the weapons look. Will be interesting to see how they wedge in the Molotok - is there a chance some weapons might be dropped?

- I like how they seem to really be narrowing down troops roles with this and giving them specific roles and advantageous ranges. You don't bring an HMG to a close fight.

It's all good when you think about it, but on the table it just seems like an unwanted risk.

Like someone mentioned there is a difference between the EM venerability. I can't really see Molotoks loosing that advantage. Spitfire's on the other hand gaining it might make sense if you compare it to the HMG.
Or they change up the HMG, I always found it odd to be the only weapon not effected by EM on all the high tech units.

Croc Man with BS is now much more than a cool model.

As for the Molotok, think Bren gun with space-age parts or a modern SAW. Easier to handle, lots of bullets.

HMGs are designed for saturating an area with fire - many game systems model them as putting down a "beaten zone" in terms of game effects. You can still split B with an HMG to engage two widely separated targets, which is I guess a reflection of the sheer amount of firepower you can pour out.

If somebody does so, I indeed do honor him by granting him victory... or not, as those lists are far from unbeatable, especially when it comes to ITS.
I did face 10 Pretas and won (quite easily indeed)...
Even a 38 Preta list is far from a no-brainer if you want to succeed in getting a few objective points.

I have a lot more respect for Wallace supported by a million regular orders for 6 points and a full smoke screen.
