July Speculation

by Scorch » June 25th, 2014, 3:01 pm

Hm, apparently we skipped last month on Data Sphere :) that will not stand! Alas, it's too late. But July is around the corner, so better start something for them!

What can we expect?

:haqq: Ghulam Special Weapons Boxed Set (finally! Together with the confirmed Alguaciles and Fusilliers from Operation: Icestorm this is going to be a really well-received box. Making all the line infantry up to date with CB's new design before N3 is a tremendously good decision!)
:ca: Ratorak Vulkan Shotgun (pushing more Morats with new design. I really like what they've done with the previous releases)
:aleph: Thamyris - Space Assange - the hacker journalist (Paradiso's lost boy for ALEPH seeing the boons you get from Journalist lv2)
:yujing: Zu Yong with HMG.. the first Terracotta Soldier and our first glimps at the new Invincible sectorial (something that has been on my personal to-buy list since.. ever? )
:ariadna: Antipodes pack (we've seen the renders already, at Ficzone (OMGWTFBBQ, right?)

More to come!

No June Nomads, so this must be fixed in July.

Haven't you heard about the Operation Icestorm? :P Looks like there are going to be enough Nomads/PanOceania in August!

Wasn't everything announced all in one go? Only photos of models were done one by one.

IOW, no Nomads or PanO in June or July.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Still that thread managed to reach epic proportions. I like the fact that on Data-Sphere we can have a thread that just shows things in a quick go, without people needing to dig 73 pages of flamewars, foodtopics and random crap. Also, the magazine of course O:) that works great too!

I'm desperately waiting on the character Raktorak being released so what essentially looks like an arm swap and an edited pose leaves me wanting......

The prospect of more Yu Jing HI though.......well, Yu Jing HI is my bread and butter and why I got into this game in the first place!

Are these replacing the standard Invincible (a renaming?) or is it another unit in their sectorial? I hope whatever happens the classic profile is updated or improved rather than swept aside.

The new Raktorak is decidedly meh. Not different enough to warrant really caring about.

Would also have much rather seen the new Yu Jing HI...

My understanding is that it's a new unit, the line infantry of the future Invincible sectorial faction infact!

Thanks for the link. I was hoping to get a good enough view of the Vulkan Shotgun to see if it actually looked different than the Boarding Shotgun. I like it better than the starter box Combi + LFT one, and will definitely pick it up.

Yep, absolutely love the new Raktorak.

Here's hoping that more than one can be included in a Suryat link team. He'll probably do double duty as Kornak, the convenient piece of debris makes him look suitably commanding. And the Vulkan shotgun is different enough to be called a Mk12.

The new YJ HI are NEW units for the "invincible army" (terracotta soldiers). The old invincibles stay the same. These are a completely new unit profile, NOT an addition to the old ones.

Ah well looks like I'll be replacing my Current Antipodes then..

I hope in V3 they get a change of stats, would like to see them gain Natural Born Warrior to match the Wulver. Would make them a bit more scary, not that they don't worry people as is..

I'm hoping that in N3 they re-evaluate the original, plain, no-frills HI units and either lower their cost or give them something interesting to recommend themselves. Otherwise the Orc, Invincibles, Jannisaries, etc. end up being passed over for more interesting/capable options, unless they happen to be the only HI available to whatever army/sectorial being played.

I'm thinking it might be the photos but the Antipodes look pretty bad. Their poses and proportions are weird, wonky, and stiff. Will reserve judgement until I have a better look at them.

The "settle down children I'm busy" posed controller is pretty amazing however.

Well, the renders looked pretty great IMO as far as poses and proportions. I do admit I see a little of what you mention, but since we have seen the renders previously I'm willing to put it down to photo angles. I also think the colours of their fur/gear is a bit too close to the colours in the background - in most of the pictures you do have to look pretty intently to get a good look at them.
