That was 20 hours ago, the problems started a few hours before that.
Coincidence that the technical problems started just a day prior to the "big reveal"? Maybe
Ah, yes, yesterday I got a handful of those "driver errors" but mostly worked, now the "closed for maintenance" always. Maybe something got corrupted, it seems very fragile.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

I suspect they're going to be down until they get a couple more hamsters to run the website, or the interest tapers off. It's a DDOS, but a unintentional one.

I did wonder if the site was down due to them loading the PDFs.
But that would seem very unlikely, although it would obviously be a magical Christmas gift! And CB are the type to work extra hard to get these things done for the community, which is why we love them.
That said, I am assuming that it's just a site failure or an unintended DDOS.

If it actually were the release of Army 5, that'd be a really cool christmas gift from CB.
However, while I'm no web technician, I doubt it would be necessary to take the site down for a day to implement that.

No, it should not be required to stop the server(s) for that. And it's not removed, just can't cope with the load. Also the forums are in a different machine... well, at least different IP. And the BoW page links directly to the files.
OK, did some checks... they have some silly choices, and that is just what I can see from outside. Adding how the new system works (broken "new tab"), anything is plausible inside.
Probably it passed the demo for the boss, then colapses as soon as there is a bit of weight on it.

The Twitter feed from the hosting site says they're getting inundated with about 130 times the normal web traffic. (If my Spanish is right. No hablo.) But...yoinks.

I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but shouldn't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem deal with itself?
Nasty. The comment about choices still holds, if your server can serve faster and less, it's more probable to sneak something useful past the DDoS.
