Tales of Character Generation

by schoon » February 3rd, 2016, 10:12 am

I thought I'd give the character generation rules a try for the point buy option, and it's been pretty fun.

I wanted a former Tunguska Dragnet investigator, so the heritage options were pretty obvious.

For my youth event, I rolled (even though I'm still paying the LP to "choose") and came up with "witnessed a crime." Very appropriate.

For my adolescent event, I browsed the options and went with "Watched by the AI." I see that as a Nomad whose Geist has been infiltrated by ALEPH over time (ala Shadow Conflict). This strikes me as a really fun ongoing conflict to play, and I wouldn't have thought of it without the system.

Well done Modiphius.

I honestly thought the content of OP would be somewhere along the lines of "I have this awesome character who is basically naked because gear acquisition is broken due to the table having no cost values."

It's the Tunguskan police force. The famed "Mexican General" rose through their ranks.

Oh man I'm having trouble remembering it now, I just remember the first guys life being nothing but constant disaster. Something good would happen to give him hope, only to be immediately followed by something soul crushingly disastrous.

Some of the things I remember:

His parents died and he came under surveillance from someone.

He got a sweet job, but was immediately fired, possibly having something to do with the mysterious death of his parents and that surveillance deal.

I think he then died, but was resurrected with some other memories inserted.

He gets another good job and things are going well, but he has an affair with someone high up in the company, and is then backstabbed by a subordinate and gets fired again.

He finally fights his way back into another job, and it turns out the problems with his previous resurrection are that there is a doppelganger him out there, who comes and steals his job... again

There was another character who just kept crash landing on remote planets as well.
