Bricards based MRRF, 300 points, casual ITS games

by mbdeyes » August 28th, 2014, 9:23 pm

I currently play Vanilla Ariadna and was thinking about moving toward a sectorial. I have enough models for a Kazak team, but I'll have to wait for Acheron falls, of course.

I could take what I currently have and play the current list by only investing in the box of Bricards and the Bricard HRL blister... is this viable, at least to start, or am I leaving a hole, tactically speaking? (we've been playing with Spec Ops lately, so I put that in there to cover the 9 points it costs.)

I should maybe look at picking up a 112 to cover the medical classifieds, I suppose...

hmm. id say the order split between your two groups is hurting you big time, especially with AD troopers in there too!
You've also not really got enough forward observers to make the GML worth taking. I find without HD+ and repeaters, you really need to fully commit to GML by taking stacks of camouflaged FO specialists, here, you just don't have enough.
I'd personally say to either ditch the GML and engineer and combine combat groups, (maybe pick up a loup garou or two (viral + xvisor is tasty!) or go max chasseur observers and drop the mirage 5 team.

It's interesting. The heaviest criticism I get is usually on how I divide my forces. Makes me wonder if I'm missing a doctrine of how to divide up the troops....

I've considered the extra Chasseur's. If they had unique models it would be a no brainer, but as it is I'd have to have the one out of the starter and triplets with Adhesives. Still considering getting one and replacing the weapon and painting the hair differently though.

This list is made out of what I currently own. The Briscard box and blister should be in store for me to pick up this week. The only other French model I have is the Zouave HMG Sappeur, who has done a brilliant job in games using Vanilla Ariadna, so I could replace something in this list with him.

I don't want a static list, meaning if there's a way for me to take Mirage-5 one game, surprising my opponent, and not take them the next, then that would be ideal. Having enough models to sub some out from game to game means not getting bored with a list and not being completely predictable.
I do still have some store credit, with which I'll ordering Yojimbo, but I should have some left over for a few more models. If you have any suggestions, that would be great. I like to have the Engineer as an option for the ITS classifieds, but neither he nor the Mul is necessary.

well i'd def recommend the loup-garou. lovely models and excellent on the table as well.
I've never been failed by my paracommando, the HMG loadout is excellent and the rifle/FO loadout is a nice cheap mobile objective grabber too.
another decent objective grabber is a zouave FO. he gets overlooked a lot, but like you, i won't play multiple cloned models so i've used mine to great effect. The DEP is a nice-to-have (lifeblood and such) but he really has a tool for all ranges with the assault pistol, rifle, flash pulse and can start practically on top of objectives.
when it comes down to it though, there's really no bad choice of models (except maybe moblots).
I've got a lot of mileage out of a metro link team. with/without bruant, they're still super cheap and pack heavy weapons for very little points/SWC

The only reason I didn't go with the Metro HMG in a 5 man link (and thus Bruant et. al.) is that that is what I normally run for JSA (4 Keisotsu including HMG and Yuriko linked). I really didn't want to field another team that felt the same gameplay wise, so I went with the Bricards list.

Here's the list of things I would consider, though I'm not sure what priority I should place on each, thus my posting here for advice.
MRRF Starter (3 Metro, Zouave, Para Commando HMG, Moblot)
    112 Emergency
Intel Spec-Ops (Proxied in for a Chasseur)
Chasseur (modded with weapons from the Spec Ops. I already have the two available models).
    Para Commando Rifle
    Bruant

I would consider the Loup-Garoux box but I wasn't sure how effective they were on their own (not linked) vs the utility in the MRRF starter. This week I should be able to pick up the box of Bricards I ordered, so I'd like to concentrate on building around their link before looking at the Loups.

Mrrf starter is probably the best buy if you're limited to one purchase. The three cheap orders mean you get a lot more utility out of a second combat group and the paracommando and Zouave are both great models.
The spec ops sniper rifle will sit in the chasseurs hands quite well with minimal work and a camo sniper can be a really powerful tool. The rifle arm is far too bulky though and would look weird on her body.

Loup garou with viral rifle are dealy on their own. The xvisor gives them greater reach than their prey and their ammo is super deadly. A link team of these guys is def as good as briscards if not better at killing/glueing stuff but obviously has no inbuilt ITS point grabbers.
Bryant is better in a link IMHO but can be a nasty surprise with that molotok

Thanks.
Not limited to a single purchase, but for both economic and sanity reasons I can't order the lot all at once... spreading it over time, therefor looking for what should be priority.

Here is my answer to Mirage 5 (forgot Lt, either a Metro or Bricards can fill the role)

This last one is the most interesting to me. Focused on a lot of FO to give a chance at both objectives (Infiltrating Chasseurs and Mechanized Zouave). The Uragan becomes quite useful, but at 19 points is still not the only thing making this team effective. The Bricards sniper, rocket, DEP, and Marksmen rifles, all at +1 burst and +3 BS are looking pretty good, and the Paracommando can come in with heavy fire support when he'll be most effective.
