Problems building new antipodes

by Chris » August 29th, 2014, 9:59 am

Hi there,

does anybode else have that problem ? I can build the controller and the running antipode ok, but the standing ones right leg
gives me problems. There are 2 legs - one that is on a rock and another that is essentially on a rock up another rock. One I can fit to the bodies ok (with some bending and with a crevace remaining) but the other one is impossible to fit. I now wonder if I have gotten a wrong body in the box..

Greetings
Chris

both standing ones have the same leg that attaches into the rock.
One of mine was a slightly tighter fit than the other though and both had a massive gap at the hip joint that needed greenstuff to fill it.
I think its just a problem of the mould mate, you might need to take a knife to it to make it fit and then fill the remaining gaps with green stuff as best you can afterwards.

The upright leg can be very gently bent to bring the separated leg flush on both sides. Just line one side up and hold it in place and bring the other flush with gentle but firm pressure.

Yup. That's what I did.
I've worked with a 'Finecast' model recently, so, though there were some gaps in these models, I didn't find they were extreme.... the 'Finecast' model was much worse and not pliable at all.

Failcrap (and Sedition Wars, Relic Knights, and Privateer Press restic, plus Forgeworld resin) can be bent after you apply some heat to it. I use the instant-hot water faucet at the sink for some ~190degF water. 30 second in that, then take the model out and gently push to fit, then hold for ~15 sec.

Though I still need to GS the everliving crap out of Ekhis.

That's insane. I'd honestly call GW and show them the pictures. Demand a replacement, because that one is fooked.

My buddy bought it probably 3 to 4 years ago. Well past it's return date.
Honestly, this is the first Finecast product I've personally worked on, so after reading review I figured this one was just par for the course. I've fixed up most of it with greenstuff, including sculpting mew fingers and 'wing claws'.
