MarcoSkoll's art

by MarcoSkoll » August 19th, 2014, 11:07 pm

Hello!

I art from time to time. I also verb with nouns (which I really shouldn't).

Seeing as I've actually drawn something new and Infinity related, I'm dumping a thread here, which will start with a couple of (sort of complete) older pieces, both of my female Asawira - first her original design concept:

And second, her conducting a field interrogation of an unfortunate Fusilier:

And now the something new - a rendering of my (also female) Azra'il:

It's possibly due some more work, such as a background or some adjustments to proportion and perspective, but I'm submitting it as is, else I'll never get anything done.

I love it! Great stuff!

Are you also planning on putting some color in those pics? Or are you more of a sketch artist? (Don't get me wrong, whenever I drew it was usually just sketch).

Possibly, yeah.

The first was considered (although not yet ruled out) as a possible base for a digital painting, and I might well consider at least some form of colouration for any of them. While I don't tend to colour art that often, I certainly have:

Yes, albeit an slightly old and cut-down version.

While it's not the most highly rated of programs for this kind of art, I mostly draw my big pieces in Photoshop in the first place; other programs have more features better suited to line-art, such as automatic smoothing of graphics tablet input for really clean lines, but I've kinda grown to like the slightly irregular lines I get from my current approach (which is usually continually refining, adjusting and detailing my initial sketching until I'm happy) - when I do go and properly trace over my lines neatly, it almost loses some character.

The "angel wings" piece has pencil and paper line-art however; I'd still yet to solve the problem of the tablet I had at the time not having any pressure sensitivity, so I was still adjusting cursor settings manually. Just about tolerable for colouring, but a pig for line-art.

(But to be fair, after the tablet started behaving, the other piece above was my first all digital effort. I have still upgraded to something fancier though).
