Is that EL wire? Have you considered using LEDs and clear acrylic sheets?

It's Worblas Transpa art. Like Worblas Finest Art it's thermoelastic, but not in the same amount. I painted it with glass color.
I'll see if I can make some detail shots the next days.

I used the wig from my Judgement Kayle Cosplay to make the Reverends hair do from it. I'll retouch it later but the rough structure is set.

Everything looks very good. That green looks quite nice when backlit. I think the belt item is supposed to be a high tech Rosary. That is something a Nun would have, no?

What did you use for that wavy green effect on the side?

Also: what is the sword made of? It looks like foam, but I recall you saying you didn't use EVA foam.

The light effect is made the same way I did at the comlogs and the rosary thing: Worblas Transpa Art, painted with two shades of green glass paint and illuminated by a LED light chain. :)

The blade itself is made from Worblas Black Art. It's pretty much the same as Worblas Finest Art, but black... And it can be shaped a bit more detailed.

On a unrelated note:
Are you still interested in non-Infinity related stuff?
I'll be promoting the Batman Miniature Game at a convention in may and therefore I do a Harley Quinn Cosplay.

The reference:

My first progress:
Image
Cosplaying is a very expensive and time consuming hobby. So, if I can save some time or money, I do!
With this petty coat I did both!
I needed an A-shaped petty with white lace for Harleys skirt and from my time when I wore Lolita fashion I had a bell shaped one with white lace in my closet. That's handy, eh? :D
I just removed the first layer of tulle and sewed it between the second and third one to make the bell shape an A-shape and voila! ^_^

Harley Quinn seems a popular cosplay. Did you get to pick it, or were you asked to do it? Do post updates here. Bitte.

The sword is a tad bit scary looking. Vaguely like a falcata or kopis too.

A bit of both. I was asked to do a character from the Batman- or Marvel-Miniature game. So I examined all female characters that are available for those games atm.
Most of them wore a skin tight bodysuit or not more than a swim suit. Since I wouldn't feel pretty well in those they were no option.
Harley sure is cosplayed really often, so this would probably haven't been my first choice, but I do like the character and the dress she wears in Arkham Knight is simply super cool! A mix from innocent school girl and maniac criminal! <3 :3:
So in the end I picked her :)

The first major progress will follow tomorrow.

Harleys boots!
I was really lucky to find a pair that was pretty close to Harleys original ones. The chains are not true to original, but since the boots had them and I found them to be fitting I left them stay.
Only things I had to do was painting one shoe and one shoelace red, vanish the red shoe to make it as shiny as the original black one and add the clinch pins :)

Many of the Batman characters seem to be wearing, well, fetishware. Not everybody's cup of tea, I suspect. I'm only aware of the Batman stuff because one of the Terrain threads I follow elsewhere, the fellow is doing a lot of Batman themed stuff. He painted a different version of the Harley Quinn though. Apparently there are multiple versions. Choice is good.

The boots look very good. Did you die one, or just get a pair of red ones and a pair of black ones?

It's only in the Arkham videogame franchise, in the normal one they're less like that and more classic superheroes/villains (if you have issues with that style that's a different discussion ), Harley in particular had quite a different design when she was introduced in the Batman Animated Series, and i know for a fact that many fans acknowledge only it as "the true one", which is not a very solid case in comic land, but oh well.

And now back to your regularly scheduled cosplay blog :D

She said she painted one boot. What kind of paint? Will it last? Can it be reverted? Rather good coverage for red.

Like jherazob said the Harlekin Harley Quinn is the "original" one. That's how she first appeared in the animated series and how you can find her in the comic "Mad Love" that explains her origin.
But to be honest:
I like the new Harley (as to be seen in Suicide Squat or her own comic series) better. Both costume and character wise. But I guess it's personal taste really!

I painted the red shoe and the red shoe lace with standard water based acrylic paint.
@ Mob: You are right, getting red to cover nicely takes some patience. This were 4 layers of red paint until it was even.
Since acrylic paint often dries matt, I applied semi glossy vanish afterwards to make it as shiny as the black shoe.

I already painted several boots with acrylic paint (e.g. the Kumotails or the Reverends) and it works quite well. In places wich are stressed a lot it will peal off eventually. So this method is nothing for real clothes. But for cosplay purposes, where costumes are only worn a few times, it's totally fine :)

Totally off topic, but I know a lot of the Endor Commandos will use spray paint on their trench coat, so that is an option for clothes. It makes it really stiff at first but after washing it the clothes soften.
