8.11. - W3 Tournament Aachen/Euregio

by Picken » July 20th, 2015, 10:35 pm

This year, on the 7th and 8th of November the W3 (Das Wilde Würfel-Wagnis/the wild dice venture) is a tabletop games event in Aachen, Germany, near the borders to Belgium and the Netherlands. I was asked to organize a tournament there, so i do it on the 8th of November.

300 points games, with SpecOps, will be played. i will choose the missions in the following weeks/months. dependant on the amount of players we will play wither 3 missions (up to 8 players) or 4 missions (9 to 16 players), the maximum of players will be 16. We will start at 09:30 and the tournament will and at 18:00. It will be in the big room of the catholic university group in the Pontstraße 74-76 in Aachen. This is the street with over 60 pubs, bars and restaurants, so you will have a great choice of what to eat in the break time.

i will need 10€ as entry fee. i still have to plan a bit which prices there will be (aside from a Classic Tournament Pack), so there could be an ab bit higher entry fee of 15€ at the end. still, that would just change the prices for more value.

if you are interested, you can register yourself for the tournament at T³ from now on.

We would be happy if some players from the Netherlands or Belgium would visit us to play. It also will be a chance to get an automatically won round in the German Championship 2015.

I just registered myself, I hope the language isn't an issue though, but this will be my first tournament for infinity.

Another friend just registered, is it neccesary to have the custom meeple ITS deck, because he doesn't have it and is not able to get it before the tournament?

Second question, can we make 2 lists and choose one depending on the scenario/ opponent we play?

I am happy to announce that the tournament will be with full 16 players and we already have 2 people on the waitlist. Maybe we can open another table but even if not, those on the waitlist will still have a lot of fun at the W3 convention. We have hundreds of games for you to try and many of them are not language dependent, others are in english anyway.

And I am especially happy that we have two dutch and one belgish playerso we can now call our tournament the (totally unofficial) First Infinity Euregio Championship! :)
[Actually we might as well call it "14th Annual Jam Eating While Horseriding Cup" but for the Euregio stuff we at least have some better justification now.]

OK, commercial break over now so I can get to the questions. ;)

@Grauenacht: It's awesome that you and your buddy join our tournament, especially for your first tournament at all! :D
- The language barrier should not be an issue. The headjudge and all players I know of are fluent in the english language. The german rules by the way are not even printed yet and the pdf is out for about two weeks now. So any player there who did not just start N3 in the last two weeks should at least be able to talk about Infinity rules.
- The custommeeple deck is just an option and the dice table still works fine. Moreover the official deck includes 40 cards and as I understand it 20 should be enough. I can lend one half of my deck (or both halves if I am not needed to make an even number of players) and I think more people owning the deck will, too.
- You are correct about the lists. The tournament has 3 missions and you bring two lists of the same faction or sectorial to choose from before every game. Those 3 missions are Supremacy, Heavily Classified and Annihilation and I think it really helps in listbuilding that 2 of the 3 call for quite similar approaches. ;)
