Hello from Elizabethtown, KY

by JETxGREEN » April 13th, 2015, 4:00 pm

Hi i'm new to infinity and I'm an Aleph player. I've been playing for about two weeks now and really enjoying the game. Right now i'm going vanilla but I'm interested in sectoral. What are the differences in playstyle and will there be other sectorals for aleph? I notice the aleph forum on here is kinda dead.

Hello there!

Welcome to the forum and the game! Glad to hear you're having a good time of it.

The ASS (or Steel Phalanx) is a very "in your face" army with limited "tricks" like Camouflage or Impersonation. What they do have is a lot of very strong gunfighters and close combat threat. Additionally, their troops (while pricey) are often very good for their price. They are slightly lacking in specialists, but what specialists they do have are quite good and usually durable. This was alleviated some by the addition of the Dactyl.

There will be at least one additional sectorial for ALEPH that involves the various Vedic units (Dakini, Asura, Deva, Dasyu, Naga, etc). When this will be released is unknown, but suspected in the next major expansion book: Acheron Falls.

That would be great to see a second sectoral I have almost everything for vanilla aleph so I'm probably going to start buying into steel phalanx or pick up some pan ocean. What really confuses me is that so many of the rules for infinity can't be found in the rulebook or in the faq. Like what a spotter is or the rules for proxie jumpers also what I-khol does. Where are these rules listed is there a rules reference that has the stuff the n3 book left out?

Yes. So, the N3 book is the "core" rule book. It contains MOST of the rules.

There are two other books that will contain the other rules. These books are Human Sphere and Campaign: Paradiso. It's not required to buy these books. The rules from these books used to be download-able from their main site, but this has been dropped in the transition of the main site to N3. I think these documents are being updated to the style of N3 for download at a later date. They have been excluded from the current website to avoid confusion, I think.

If ever you run into one of those rules not listed in the N3 Core book, feel free to drop a line in here or the official forums and I'm sure someone would be glad to help you out.

Spotter: As long as the model with "Spotter" and the model's controller share Line of Fire to a target, the controller enjoys a +3 bonus to ballistic skill attacks against the target.

Jumper rules are a touch too complicated for me to attempt to relay.
