Resurrections?

It was vaguely mentioned at the beginning of the video but didn't know that was possible in the LORE unless I'm missing something. Also how far DEAD is Dead for good lorewise?

Yes, resurrections are within the realm of technical possibility in the Infinity setting. Would be commonplace if not for the extreme costs associated with the process.

It is possible due to three factors:
    - Cubes, implanted quantronic processors capable of storing a complete personality record of the bearer, which are pretty common among the Infinity nations (as well as the alien factions), apart form Ariadna. Well, or at least common among the high-risk occupations, like military personnel. Some units rely on older "camera recording" that are only vaguely described as tedious and time-consuming.
    - Lhosts (LiveHosts), geneenginered, cloned bodies being easily obtainable (in technical, even though not necessarily in financial sense).
    - the Silk, a powerful drug allowing to integrate a Cube-stored personality into a new body.
Now, if you have these three, you can be resurrected.
Of course, there are problems:
    - some weapons, based on electromagnetic energy, are capable of "burning" the cube, rendering it unusable. A small problem if you've survived the encounter, but means a True Death if you didn't mkae it.
    - the dreaded Sepsitor weapon of the Combined Army can attack Cubes and effectively brainwash you to accept the EI cause as your own, making your Cube, effectively, permanently contmainated. This is the sad fate that happened to the legendary Ko Dali.
    - the Lhosts are slow and costly to produce, so especially in the time of war they are in limited supply. There are also social control mechanisms emplaced in the various states to avoid the rich being always able to secure a new body and thus live forever, while this chance is kept out of reach of the poor.
    - there is only one place in the Human Sphere where raw materials required for Silk production do exist - Bouraq - and only the Haqqislamites know the technology of refining them into Silk. As it is one of their main points of leverage in the internaitonal politics and a major source of their income, you can bet they guard the secret well.
That, and the supply is limited.

Now as for the Alive campaign - we've been told that Toni Macayana's Cube was damaged beyond recovery due to actions of the Umbra hacker Nourikias. If your Cube is damaged, there is, generally, no backup to resurrect you from.
If you ask "why there isn't a backup recording kept somewhere then, and updated every so often", I would answer that I don't really know, but there is a possiblity that being quantronics (quantum electronics), it would have something to do with quantum states teleportation and the like.
Can't really tell you more, for I basically don't know jack shit about quantum physics :(

It's about backups becoming corrupted or not being able to be sure they were not infected too, no matter where they are. Somewhere it was mentioned that all the copies of someone were deleted. Yet TAG pilots are near the TAGs, not in another planet, pointing to communication limitations.

Quantronics is the joker card of this setting. Don't overthink it, it's the part of fantasy in SciFa. If the fluff writing style wasn't headache inducing by the extreme baroque composition, I would try to look up the exact pages. Before 3rd I started a reread with note taking, but gave up when saw there was a new version... and still with typos, slow read and everything to 11. One of those "WhyTF I am wasting time if source doesn't care" moments.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Thanks! So basically if the guy's cube is destroyed they're dead for good annd sounds like that is quiet common with some of the weapons in Infinity 0.o

Unless you've got a Cube 2.0. Those (used mostly by Aleph operatives and EI aspects) have constant wireless backups so even if you get nuked they can still restore a previous version from a few seconds earlier.

That is, unless you're fighting against CA - they turn off the online backups for the mission to avoid contaminating the data (even if contaminating the cube could destroy the possibility of resurrection, 1. it's no big deal when you literally created the whole person from scratch so you can recreate a lot, 2. even if there's no Resurrection, the data is still valuable to the AI). Aleph operatives captured by the CA or missing in action against CA are required to self-terminate or face summary execution with no resurrection.

For 4th edition they will add Cube 3.0, selective backups with integrity verificacion. :v:
Or maybe not, as that eliminates story archs (and sounds smart thing to do even for the betas).

Yup.

That's why all the EM weapons have a note in the description about it being a violation of the Concilium Conventions to use. Or at least a violation to use one on a human. Anything that breaks Cubes is bad news.
