Re: Escenorama resin terrain indiegogo

This looking interesting for resin terrain. I'm not convinced their buildings fit in with stuff like MAS necessarily, but their accessory packs (bases and boxes/pipes) look OK for $20/$25 a time. Obviously the casting quality is a big unknown, but I'm thinking I might punt on a $25 crates/barrels/pipes set to use as dressing for scratch builds and other bits of laser cut terrain I have.

indiegogo is really the same as kickstarter so please put those topics here.

I believe Escenorama is quite popular in Europe, much the way Secret Weapon is over in the US.

Here's a kickstarter we can really get our teeth into... looks like a printed cardstock / plasticard mall or warehouse, perfect for zombie gaming or that shootout in the GAP stores we all dream about.

Photo is fuzzy, the KS page says birch wood. It could be laser cut for most pieces, with some of them spray painted in a single color.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Hi all.

Is anyone looking at the Deadzone kickstarter? I'm thinking it'll be something like "Infinity-lite". Didn't see how the reaction rules would be like yet.

I'm actually more interested in the buildings/scenery. The lower learning curve (compared to Infinity) of it might be a good stepping stone for a complete newbie's introduction.

Opinions?

I don't think there are many similarities to be honest. It has a D8 based system which means the balance between skill levels will be a LOT different, its basically the same as D6 really, quite big jumps between a skill level of 5 and 6 in terms of % success. It also seems to be played on a grid, like a 3D board game.

It looks a lot more like a striped down version of Necromunda than anything else, but most Mantic games are fast playing, fun, but a little simplistic for my tastes. It certainly doesn't have many obvious similarities with Infinity.

Yikes! Reminds me of the inside of Alcatraz!

Which would make an awesome setting for a game, mind you...

Space Ship X Kickstarter

by Hero of Man » August 7th, 2013, 6:26 pm

Hey guys, I was doing my usual Kickstarter/Indiegogo hunt and found this;

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/670901595/creative-gamescapes-spaceship-x?ref=live

I'm pretty intrigued by it, as its the most affordable star ship corridor sets I've seen. If this is the wrong forum, my bad.

Yup, there's a specific kickstarter thread. No worries, moved it for ya. :) - Arachas

Cool! Injection-molded plastic terrain for the most part, too.

I'm freaking broke as a joke right now, but hopefully I can sling $200 for the all decked out. Otherwise, I gotta build my Zero-Gee board the hard way (from scratch)!

I keep worrying that multi-level terrain will prove impossible to play on practically.

Do you mean in terms of getting to the miniatures inside the terrain?

Someone mentioned a similar thing to me about some of the new multi-level Spartan stuff. Looks absolutely fantastic, but you would need to be very careful about how you assembled it.

Yeah, I'm not interested so much in levels 2 and 3, but lots of level 1. Also, the crew minis aren't bad for assorted space port folks.

Here's another terrain kickstarter that is quite reasonable for what you get.

Very cool! nice that they're designing for modularity from the get-go, too.

the CorSec engineering one is probably the most interesting one. He's using plastic for the outer walls with an MDF skeleton. His kits should be very light for low overseas shipping costs.

Personalized Spec Ops? (Custom Heads Kickstarter)

by jmw23 » September 9th, 2013, 2:39 am

I wonder if anyone else has seen this Kickstarter campaign:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gia ... res-of-you

They produce custom minis (more importantly they can do just the head) based on pictures you send them. I was thinking it might be cool to do my/my wife's heads on our spec ops minis. I have the feeling that with 3-D printing becoming more economical, more cool ideas like this will continue to appear.

So Infinity isn't so much a vehicles game, but when I saw they had Hexagon Stencils, I knew no Infinity player could refuse.

I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about this. Defiance Games was created by the guy who started Wargames Factory before shenanigans happened. Then he created Defiance, and Defiance had the same problems as WGF: incredibly delayed product. Apparently, the owner of Defiance games got bought out and there's a new leader in charge, but they have not earned my trust.

I will admit that the DFG suits promise to be much cheaper than Antenociti's (both DGF and AW bought rights to produce that design from the creator). But even if I had the cash, I wouldn't be funding the DFG kickstarter.

Re: Kickstarter thread - all Kickstarters go here!

The original WGF guy blamed his supplier for slow manufacturing. Then WGF went into debt to speed up things. And in the end WGF was taken over by the manufacturer (they had provided the money) and supply speed went up. The guy later started Defiance Games.

Or something like that. Some say it was coincidence, some not and that it was ransom tactics. With the DG fuck ups, it seems the original owner is not very good at handling business anyway.

While talking about this, I read somewhere that WGF's manufacturer split in two. One of the parts is handling Dreamforge Games (DFG, not DG) futuristic soldiers and robots.

I ordered once from Defiance games. It did not go well.

Having no knowledge of the past issues, I saw the store in a link. Bought a few things and waited a month... for nothing.

Apparently one of the items was a pre-oder with no set date. This wasn't anywhere on the web page. I went to their forum to see what's up, and found a large thread with people talking about the order. I said it wasn't fair that there was nothing written in the store saying it was a pre-order. The response I got: "Well you should have checked the forum, who orders from a store without going to their forum yet to see if the actual item is available as listed?" (paraphrasing).

The worst thing it was just one of the items I ordered that wasn't available. The whole order was held up for an indefinite amount of time, with no end in sight.

If it's a new guy I might give it a chance. But it's sad to see a company that had so much potential completely ruin it all...

Worse, Defiance Games then went on to put stuff up on their site for sale before they had anything more than concept art. No master model printed, no molds made, nothing.

Now, apparently Defiance punted the former owner out to strictly working on the DG corporate universe and nothing to do with running the place, but the company name itself carries all that baggage stretching back to Wargames Factory.
