28mm MonoRail - Test Cut

Helo to the Data-Sphere.

If you ever frequent TheMiniaturePage, was asked to do 15mm version http://www.madmechaguy.co.uk/mmg-15mm-monorail.html of my monorail for 28mm.

After a fair amount of design work (plus cursing/swear & crtl+Zing), have done a test of my 28mm MonoRail

Design works, did find had missed 6 tiny braces for the Under Carriage boxes & had forgotten to flip some of the faces for the Boogies (double d'oh), now corrected.
So picture do not show these boxes.

Ah, just realized you're UK based...

That's gonna mean shipping is likely going to be prohibitively expensive. I am sad.

Maybe one day I'll be able to afford it.

Dear Claudius

Have found if combine orders can reduced postage cost per item. I tend to use a courier reseller site 'parcel2go' to find cheapest postage (sent a 4kGs/over £100) order to canada for around 30.00 Have found that postage for larger order does not go up massively per Kilogram, unlike UK royal mail.

I give estimate of postage before doing order just in case postage too high.

Thanks for the very quick replies and addressing my concerns there.

I'll have to see what I can do. The meta for Infinity isn't very large here quite yet and I've mostly been doing terrain with just a friend and myself. Everyone else tends to mooch off us, hahaha!

Seem like it. The tabs that hold it seem to be on a turning table, easy enough to magnetize or pin. CHOO CHOO!

How wide are the tracks? Would they keep 25mm base steady?

Push the Train along the tracks (insert massive indignation), that is so old tech!!!!

You must (somehow) wire up a micro-maglev system (start with cheap magnets from china) & controller (mod some 2nd hand hornby bits) so can remotely control the train.

Actually... I remember a friend of mine doing a science fair project with maglev tech in primary school.

Appropriately place magnets would let it operate very akin to a maglev. Oh, if I could get my hands on this, I would certainly make that modification.

For those willing to perform the experiment in my place... The top and sides of the rail need to be magnetized with one polarity, the interior of the guide catch needs to be of the opposite (both sides and bottom of the guide catch) polarity. It's possible the magnets would wear out, but that would take a long time or very hot days or repeated heavy impacts to shift the polarities of either end of the maglev.

Dear Morze

Track is 20mm wide. When designed the Stop ramp with be around 35-45mm wide and at 30 deg angle.

a) Links should be [ url = http ://www.madmechaguy.co.uk/28mm-monorail.html ] Monorail [ / url ] without spaces to get Monorail or just http://www.madmechaguy.co.uk/28mm-monorail.html so the systems creates them (make sure there is a space after it then, if you write "...rail.html," the comma will be considered part of the link even if probably wrong). If you put [ ] you must write the extras like url, = and /.

b) Your site needs more pictures of assembled products (beds, containers, condos, etc). Some buildings sounds like great table filler for the price, but with pictures they should sell even better.

c) Great idea to make a train that is pretty much to scale.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?
