Container/Cargo VTOL - 15mm & 28mm [MadMechaGuy]

by Mad Mecha Guy » April 15th, 2015, 6:14 pm

As a request have done a VTOL for carrying containers, originally in 15mm but have done for 28mm now.

15mm

With the Helicopter version will need to reinforce the blade with a strip of 50.5mm plasticard (or 2 x 0.25mm card) underneath the blade. Tried doing as two layer of 2mm MDF but looked way too thick.

Pack of 2 for £10.00 GBP. Either Ducted Fan or Contra-rotating Helicopter.
both versions includes two 9x3x3cm Containers

Approximate Sizes:

Ducted Fan Version
60mm Wide (legs), 160mm (Fan)
50mm Tall
120mm Long

Heli Version.
60mm Wide (legs), 190mm (Blades)
70mm Tall
120mm Long

Have done a wider Passenger Pod (plain interior) & a Cargo Pod and hopefully will do AG version (different engine block) and have been working on alternate version of VTOL with blocky pods (for turbojets)

28mm Version

Have finished the Container VTOL for 28mm.

FAN Version

Will be sold in packs of 1, with a single 15x5x5 container for £16.00 GBP.
Body Length: 24cm
Width: 14cm plus 5.5cm for each fan pod [wing span: 25cm].
Height: 10cm (slightly higher is fans facing forward).

Note had to make Fans housing 12 sided as could not do as pure circle.

Tried to do picture with pods blu-taced on but were too heavy for the power of blu-tac.

HELI Version

Image

(there will be panels at either end of tail boom, just blown off by the wind)

Will be sold in packs of 1, with a single 15x5x5 container for £14.00 GBP

Body Length: 24cm
Width: 11cm
Height: 12cm to top of tails. 16cm to rotor top.
Rotor Blade Span: 33cm

Will need to reinforce underside of Rotor Blade with plasticard to reduce chance of breakage.

NOTE: There are a set of three 6mm hole on underside of Tail Spar & matching set in container Frame & other pod frames, these are for magnets to facilitate swapping out the cargo.

PASSENGER POD

A replacement for the Container. For those conniving mine owner who love saving money by lugging those miners around in cattle-class.

Image

For ease of access, have made section of roof removable.
Will need to use small magnets (2mmD) to if wish to move with figures in pod.

Length: 15cm
Width: 7.4cm
Height: 6.4cm.

HBLW Cargo Pod

Another replacement for the Container. Is for carrying more bulky & less heavy items, also suitable for doing multi-point delivery runs.

For ease of access, have made section of roof removable.
Will need to use small magnets (2mmD) to if wish to move with figures in pod.

Length: 15cm
Width: 7.4cm
Height: 6.4cm.

Both the Pods may be usable as temporary camp shelters.

Those are some EXCELLENT fan pods!

I know CorSec Engineering has had some good luck using thin(ish) plastic card for rounded surfaces (like the LCVP hulls), have you considered/tried that?
“I'm curious, son. When has 'This might be a trap' ever stopped you?”
“Stopped? Never. Slowed me down while I load the guns? Every time.”
