Canadian Distributors?

by Garbagebin » July 28th, 2014, 6:51 pm

Hey Folks,

My gaming group is looking to get some Infinity style terrain soon so that we can stop using the old GW ruins we have. The one limiting factor right now with some of the awesome terrain providers around seems to be shipping charges.

I don't mind paying for shipping, it only makes sense, but for some of the terrain that really caught my eye, the shipping charges were pretty steep, sometimes almost doubling the price tag on the order.

Are there any Canadian distributors around? I would love to get in touch if there are.

Until next time,

Jeramy

Are you looking at US Distributors? Warsenal is based out of the US and should be fairly cheap to ship to CA. You might also try the various "North American" online hobby shops such as Miniature Market and TheWarStore and try to take advantage of their "Flat" or "Free" shipping (usually some restrictions or minimums in place).

I've taken a look at Warsenal. Their terrain is actually some of what I'm most interested in with their Comanche line. For roughly $100 worth of terrain shipping was close to $50. It was a little highbrow for me right now but it may be the kind of price to expect.

That is rather expensive. Customs, I'd guess, is the reason.

Try seeing if you can't talk to a local store to order it for you and see what prices they'd be willing to give you.

Shipping from the US to Canada is quite expensive. And a lot more than it was even a year ago.

Its better to look at a UK based site than a US one. Wayland Games has always been very fast for me

When Wayland Delivers, it does. However, I've waited two months without as much as an explanation why a terrain piece didn't deliver, beyond when they would respond to my emails occasionally with "Sorry Warehouse didn't ship it, try us again next week." Worst customer service I've ever had.

I have had one order take an inordinately long time because a single blister was out of stock (my fault as the site did say it wasn't in stock) but for the most part I order pretty mainstream stuff and I've always had good service.

If you have to choose, order from Meeplemart. The prices are competitive (at least, they were!), and the owner charges a flat $10 shipping for everything Canada-wide, no matter the weight.

Systema Gaming has some great terrain - if you buy enough and that's an easy task they will give you free shipping.

I recently picked up from Warsenal the 10 pack large and 10 small containers, some bases and other odds and ends. My shipping was ok - about 40$ for 200+$ of terrain. but it was customs that kicked in another just shy of 50$ CND. Custums is what really hurt me, but I'm loving the terrain and once I get them painted I'll be posting a review.

There's a small startup laser cutting company (so, a guy in his basement) here in Winnipeg called SG2 Creations.

A mix between WW2 and Sci-Fi Terrain. He's an Infinity player, so his Sci-Fi stuff is good for it.
