Dulydude's Shenanigans

by dulydude » December 2nd, 2013, 2:44 am

Hey guys!

Recently started a blog to keep tabs/motivate my Necromunda/Infinity stuff. Currently working on Necromunda scatter terrain and the War Gamer Tournaments Industrial Terrain (which btw is terrible for Infinity), plus some things for Infinity (going to be doing a whole lot of Bandau stuff soon!).

Check it out!

Cheers!

Hey guys

Massive update on the blog with the Bandau Buildings on my 4'x4' layout! Please have a look and let me know what you think? My only issue with it is the roads need some scatter on it, and one part needs an LOS blocking element, thinking of a CnC truck.

Cheers!

Neat table, but yeah, definitely get some more roads. I've been hesitant on the Bandua buildings simply because their design stretches my suspension of disbelief; I can't fathom why you'd build a building like that. But for a slum? Yeah, that sounds like what the Yu Jing would do.

For scatter I'd also suggest some barricades/jersey barriers, dumpsters, and maybe some assorted barrels for bums to burn stuff in. And piles of tires. Nothing says destitute like trash, old tires, and a car husk on bricks.

Also, have you considered some kind of shanty looking structure to put on top of a building, or perhaps a little garden on top of one?

I've got some jersey barriers/barrels that I'm making up with necromunda in mind, but should fit in with the general theme of this table as well (see earlier posts if you feel like it), tires are an idea I hadn't thought about, I like it!

I was thinking on top of one 'chaulking' in a soccer (football) field, and another being a Yu Jing official building, but the others I hadn't thought much about. A shanty structure would be a good idea, can you recommend any good ones?

I am planning on having posters/graffiti on a lot of them to give them a cluttered look, without interfering with the square design. I was also thinking about bridges between them, unsure now as to how cluttered the table is currently.

Oh yeah, I remember those now. Soccer Field would definitely add character, and its hard to imagine a slum without it. I know JR Miniatures used to do some shanty buildings, but I think those went OOP. Probably wouldn't be a hard scratch build; popsicle/hobby sticks, piece of fabric draped over... doesn't have to be fancy, just like some people are slumming up there. Same with scratch building some plank bridges, though big concern there would be toppling and lack of support without some extra work...

Yeah that's one of antenocitis civis, I grabbed a whole bunch when i heard they were going oop (i actually have two of those guys).
And thank you Mob about the scale shot! I think it's really important to have scale shots with things (look back to i think my second post and it's just the Kempeitai with a Necromunda Delaque ganger just for showing scale with things!!!).
I also wish I could keep this terrain, it's pretty awesome!

I didn't knew they were going OOP so i grabbed one of the last 2 packs of civilians (the one that had a bunch of them), plus the two girls in bikes. Too bad Mei Lin was already out of stock, i wanted her for quite a while.

I also agree, nice action shots.

For my own personal tastes, I think that Spartan Scenics produces the best scatter terrain around. Their warehouse set is my favorite, those crates just screams for a coat Vallejo Model Air metallic aluminum!

It certainly is popular in the U.S. as nobody seems to be able to keep it in stock.

If i ever get them, that'd be the perfect excuse for trying out the Vallejo Liquid metallics, the alcohol-based ones, i've seen the Liquid Gold used and it's the best i've ever encountered, and now wonder how would the silver-ish ones would look

For air brushed metals, I can't really recommend Vallejo Model Air. It ends up coming out rather flat and... not shiny.

I use Alclad II paints. Straight through my airbrush. Looks great! You can even achieve a very good mirror finish if you use a polishing cloth afterwards. Though, I use these on Gunpla and not on Infinity miniatures. I've not tried using them on Infinity miniatures, so be aware and try it out on a test model/piece first.

---EDIT
Also guys i've realised that I never uploaded pictures of the total Spartan Scenics get up at the FLGS

What do you guys think? We've also been using trees as low vis zones and you can't see through 2 lots of trees (even with MSV). Note this was an early prototype set up for a 150 point game (doing a slow grow currently)

Looking good, my gripe with the spartan stuff was that the design doesnt let you turn the roofs upside down to protect the railings for storage. Looking forward to seeing it with some paint on.

Alclad II paints are lacquers and I am not a fan of lacquers in general (fumes and cleanup). They do create a remarkable finish though.

Yes, Alclad II or Vallejo Alcohol are tricky. Better results but also require special care. The laquers more than the alcohol ones. That is why the VMAMetallics mafia recomends that if you want to stay with acrylics, go with VMA (they can be brushed too). :toot:

AND I'M BACK!!!
For a while anyway...

As most of us know, Antenocitis Workshop is teaming up with TOPO to make a resin version of the Chickenhawk (see here http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/25312-the-chickenhawk/), but I wanted to see how big it was going to be for myself before I get one (once it's released) and also we needed a drop ship for some zombie scenarios!
So I build the paper one!

The Chickenhawk looks great considering it's your first time building paper models.

One thing though. Did you use regular printer paper or cardboard? I found that when I made paper containers that printing paper(even a bit thicker, heavier variety) is probably not the best choice if you have to transport it and that cardboard would have probably been better.

Yeah it's made from paper. I had thought of doing it on cardboard but I printed at work, so yay free printing but had to be on paper! It's fairly strong though, managed to have a few minis on top with no isse
