Winter '15 Entries [Data-Sphere Painting Campaign]

by Claudius Sol » October 2nd, 2015, 4:30 pm

Data-Sphere Painting Campaign!
Winter '15 Season

The goal of this campaign is to paint our models and show off our progress in an attempt to keep a steady and sustainable pace of painting.
Participants (and observers) are encouraged to share Work In Progress (WIP) pictures and divulge their techniques and recipes for their works.
High amounts of detail and creativity are encouraged, but not required for participation.

To enter:
  1. Post in the season's thread with your entry. Both an unpainted (with a timestamp) and finished picture of the entry.

The theme of this season is: Heavy Weapons!

Requirements:
  1. Must have one of the following weapons (or their variations):
  2. HMG
  3. Missile Launcher
  4. Spitfire
  5. Sniper Rifle
  6. HRMC
  7. MK12
  8. DEP
  9. Feuerbach
  10. Flammenspeer
  11. Heavy Rocket Launcher (heavy specific)
  12. Heavy Shotgun (heavy specific)
  13. Katyusha
  14. Uragan
  15. Molotok

That's it! Remember that the model MUST be holding one of the heavy weapons. Please keep that in mind.

In the case of a partial profile that qualifies, all models of that profile must be submitted. Profiles such as the Scarface and Cordelia of Mercenaries will require both the "Weapon" profile model and the "non-weapon" profile model (such as Cordelia alongside Scarface).

They clear the way and put the fear in your opponents! Let's show them what for!

That's it!

At the end of each Season (this one ending on November 30th at 23:59:59 UTC), no more submissions will be accepted and the season's submissions will be compiled together. The following month, a poll thread will allow users to vote for which models they most like! There is no strict criteria on what you are casting your vote for! What this means is that users can vote on the "Most Improved", "Best Painted", "Most Interesting", "Most Ambitious", "Most Helpful", "Most Friendly", "Most Involved", "Most Funny", etc.! This form of voting doesn't prevent amateur or new painters from taking part. I know I'll always be voting for those that try their hardest. You'll also have multiple votes, so no worrying about which entries to pick! Votes are changeable at any time during the voting month. Voting for this season will end on December 31st at 23:59:59 UTC.

To vote:
  1. View the appropriate thread for the month that you wish to vote for.
  2. View ALL entries for that month in the provided Imgur album (that will be accessible in the top post).
  3. Select your vote(s) from the Poll in the thread.

You're done!

Note: it's possible that the number of entries will require multiple poll threads. In this case, please view all threads.

Prizes!
But wait! There's more!

For each season, there will be 3 winners that will be featured.
Second and Third places will receive commemorative patches and feature in a blog post.
First place will receive the same prizes as Second and Third, as well as some Vallejo paints to reward their artistry.

Note to previous season winners: we're still working out the kinks on prize support and how to handle distribution. Sorry for the wait. We appreciate your understanding.

Best of luck!

If you have any questions, post 'em below and I'll respond in the thread.

Lol gutted! Just started painting an Aquila Guard with HMG, and a Fusilier with missile launcher. When I get them finished I'll see what I find to paint for the challenge :)

@Claudius Sol
It might not look like much work, but there's too much work for that ;)
I have at least a spitfire armed Akalis to assemble, maybe some other models that would be suitable too. So there's time for me to enter yet.

Hi,

Here's my entry for this campaign, an :haqq: Odalisque with Spitfire :haqq: .

Odalisque Spitfire

I don't expect to win anything with my painting skills but i will be happy if I can achieve the paintjob on time (I have too much unpainted miniatures on my shelves ;) ).

See you later with some WIP pictures,

Bye,

Hexa MULTI-Sniper Rifle? Awesome! That model has always look pretty neat.

Seeing as i've got nothing better to do, might as well participate. Is it allright to participate with two even if I only finish one? I've not yet decided which one I want to paint first.

Sure thing! You can submit both under a single entry, if you'd like, even.

Now let's not get hasty, I might not be able to finish them both in time, then I'd have an entry with only half of it finished. I'd rather submit two different entries now, then be in the final vote with the one that I finished.
I'm a really slow painter.

Then go and paint something else (rage monkeys, Shasvaasti, whatever feels different to the Hexas) until you feel less burned, a trick i've heard some pros use is to always be painting 2-3 minis that are different enough and switch between them as they get tired of one.

I've tried that Jherazob. I end up adding even more minis, or terrain, to the queue to mix things up, and never finish a one :( But if you have the willpower to stick to just two, it should work. And here I go, adding another mini...

Heavy Shotgun Armbot.

Maybe this time I'll stay uninjured long enough to finish. Ah well, at least I'll have a nice background for photographing it ;)

I already have van zant, 2 croc men and a mulebot on the desk. I'm considering buying a beefy HI from another faction just for this.

What Armbot? I don't see any. The chick takes all my attention

Does the Devil Dog count in? I'm not sure what is his weapon (looks like heavy pistol, but the barrel looks similar to those in chain rifles and it's huge enough to count as heavy shotgun).

The Heavy Pistol is not a weapon I am including in the list of "Heavy Weapons", unfortunately. A pistol, no matter it's caliber, is only a pistol. Yeah, this is pretty arbitrary.

Post after post, but I hope that moderadors forgive me ;)

This is my entry, Szalamandra. It lost those, errrr, those things that looks like sticks (and I think without them it looks better), and is triple heavy- heavy suit (ARM-8-Nomad-style, it should be heavy, a lot of steel ;)), HRMC (look at that barrel!) and heavy flamethrower (with heavy on it's name) ;)

Lets see if this can get my interest in Infinity going again, this was the guy that sold me on Infinity and PanO, and he has never seen the table top yet, sad . . .
He qualifies because he is a Knight with a Spitfire
Painting skills = can keep between the lines mostly.

:ariadna:
Hello everybody, I am new to the game, and to this forum. I am hoping to learn some new stuff about the factions I play. When I saw the contest for this season though I got really excited. Now I have a great reason to paint this guy. Here is my Ariadna Tank Hunter with his Portable Auto Cannon! This is one of my favorite models in the Ariadna faction and I'm excited to put some paint on it and see when everyone thinks.
