Scar_hand Painting (Nazroth) Gallery/Tutorials

by Nazroth » May 31st, 2015, 10:56 pm

Hi all,

I was drawn to Infinity in December 2014. Choose Nomads as a starting army and jumped right into the whirlwind of gaming with my friens. Painting Infinity is a lot of fun and seeing all the great miniatures in the web both motivated and pushed me deeper into evolving my skills. Here's some of my Nomads, hope you like these:

I will post some miniatures here in the topic each month. If you like my works you can see more at Scar_hand Painting Blog along with some tutorials and colour recipees. There's also a Scar_hand Facebook account if you like to see some Work in Progress pictures.

Best regards,

Hi guys,

Thanks to all of you. Nothing motivates me more than good appraisal.

el_presidente: I've used a piece of plastic cola bottle. After painting double sided holo fragments i've washed all with Coelia Greenshade (GW) and then with Gloss Varnish so it regained transparency.

Neatpete: Sorry for the pictures mate. I know they're a bit chaotic with all the background. This year i took an enormous step forward when it comes to pictures and comission painting. I was strongly motivated by Infinity players in my toppic on official forum. Some of them suggested that i should go full pro (open to foreign comissions) and i actually did just that. About two weeks ago i've ordered a new no-shadow tent to make professional pictures, with all the stuff needed (lamps, etc) and now new photos look like this:
Image
So only WIP's are made on my workbench. From now on i will continue to upload new styled photos after each Infinity comission (or my own models). Just can't wait to take first pictures of Infinity - but i have to end a comission first :)

Here's the Fusiliers last WIP - hope to finish ASAP, cause models are awesome:

Hi guys (and gals).

I've finished painting Fusiliers yesterday. After around 150 unsuccessful attemts to take a right pictures i've managed to produce these (which i know are not exactly correct but it's all i can do using available equipment). Hope you'll still like these:
Image
These were painted at level (from left to right): five, four, improoved three and three.

I was also able to take couple snap-shots of my own miniatures. These should look much less chaotic:

Image
The Iguana was painted as the first Infinity model i layed my hands on. Back then it was rather try/fail/recover with how i wanted my Nomads to look and how red behaved when applied. Rest of Nomads are much younger and as the colour scheme evolved red became more juicy.

I will be delighted if Fusiliers Comission ends up with an Infinity Pano army painted at level five. It will certainly overshadow my own miniatures, especially as i just love new Panoceania miniatures.

Hmmmm I had not even noticed your bases before because those boxes in the background made it such a mess.

They are exceptionally well done bases.

Hello there fellow Infinity players, i'm back and not without some progress,

Here's what i'm in the middle of:
Image
Image
So there's a unit of special equipped Alguaciles and two Jaguars. There would also be a third Jaguar but i still await my latest purchase to come over as i would like to field a link of three with two panzerfausts. The rest of these would probably be used to make some Moran Masai Hunters and other models as they look pretty awesome and it would be a waste to just keep them locked in a box.

I'm pretty busy lately. A lot of comissions coming in due to a blog, a lot of topics on differenf forums and ebay (which is going crazy good). I started to paint my own miniatures in preparation for two major Infinity comissions: Yu Jing and Aleph with a total of 34 models. Two different painting levels and two totally new colour schemes so i'll try to make new tutorials or at least new colour recipees to share here and on my blog.

Image
Image

I don't know if any of you happens to be a fan of Malifaux but i'm also doing this right now (just awaiting delivery od custom made bases to finish this comission):

It's good to paint my own stuff once in a while :) Hope you like it,

Re: Scar_hand Painting (Nazroth)

I like the red and white, but the tan just seems to blend in too well for my tastes. Not enough neutral contrast. I would've painted the tans in black or white, perhaps. Grey, even, would have been my choice. The tan and red (plus the very brown basing) gives an overall too warm feeling. The blue is good as a cool accent, but the warm-ness is very overpowering. Of course, if this was a commission, then you didn't have full control over the palette. The weapons, at the least, could've stood to not be tan.

Hi and thanks,
Some tutorials may be found here: SCAR_HAND PAINTING TUTORIALS
Unfortunately Malifaux Miniatures are so individual that i was unable to write a tut or even colour recipee. It was a totally one time paintjob, then reset and forget. Aleph in the other hand was based on the same techniques and colour recipees i use for other Infinity Miniatures. After your question i wrote a complete Colour Recipee and posted it on my blog:

COLOUR RECIPEES: INFINITY ALEPH

Hope it'll be useful ;)

Hello guys,

New painting tutorial "Five Layers Technique" has been published on Scar_hand Painting blog today.

A small preview: "Five Layers Technique is a basic technique of choosing and applying colours. I especially reccomend it for begginers as it is simple, easy to learn, fast and rewarding. You can apply almost every colour using this technique and achieve good results as long as you choose proper paints to do so. It is especially good for either painting entire army 'tabbletop level' or preparing a miniature for much more complex paintjob...."

Second 'Special Project' in 2015! It was emerging between my thoughts once in a while for some time before I was finally motivated to work on it. The crucial point for me was to accidentally bump into an online Painting Contest at Data-Sphere forum. I already had the concept and materials to make this piece so an opportunity for a nice competition was the final push I needed.

This time I choose a Nomad miniature as a centerpiece of the Diorama. It is my favorite faction in Infinity the Game. You can read more about this project's creation and see some Work in Progress pictures in "NOMAD SOUL" SPECIAL PROJECT post. I hope you like it. If so, you can vote at: CoolMiniOrNot/Scar_hand Painting - 'Nomad Soul' by Nazroth
