Icchan paints Infinity

by Icchan » November 15th, 2014, 10:57 pm

While I'm waiting for my original painting thread to get unlocked in the official forums, I thought I'd post some of my new stuff I've been painting the last few months. Haven't had much time to pause for pictures, mostly because the better camera I was using was returned to it's owner. Now I have the camera back in loan, so it's time to take pictures of everything I've painted meanwhile!
First, some Icestorm (only the nomads will be featured, I sold the PanO scum).

Then some random works in progress:

I really, really enjoyed painting the Icestorm minis, the details are so crisp and easy to paint. A few of the older 3D sculpts have details that are smaller than a single strand of hair on my brush, I found them extremely hard to paint well. Icestorm minis seemed to paint get painted all by themselves, like magic.

Some of these minis I've shown before, but the pics were taken with a phone so hopefully these will be more appreciable.

Nice stuff! I'm also painting my Icestorm minis and I agree that the details are a treat to paint.

The bran do castro with the alternate helmet looks very cool, it gives him a more "professional" look.

Well yeah, she is still work in progress, like the Lizard pilot, Daktari, Zero, VIP and Bran. Basically just her cloaked is painted to finish, the rest of her needs a lot of work. The cloak took longer to paint than I care to admit, but I'm reasonably happy with it. I think it's one of my best blend jobs done with brush.

Some recent additions to my ISS crew:

I used Zen Terrain's base toppers on the Aleph units, they look like a perfect match for them. Ninja's base is made of cork. Sforza will have a similar base to the rest of my ISS force, namely dark sand and larger rocks, sparse vegetation.

Thanks! I have a Gecko in the pipeline that'll be painted in the same color scheme. There's a local painting contest coming up this summer and I'll probably submit it there, so I'll have to check the rules first to see if I can share pictures of it before the contest results are announced.

I'm really digging those Jade tones. Nice highlighting on that drone, too.

Currently working on a Gecko and a box of Wu Ming:
ImageImage
Gecko is almost done. Most of the airbrushing is done, just need to paint some highlights and details. A few fixes here and there, but if I'm not too exhausted this week, I might have it finished this week. It's gonna be my "monster scale" entry in a painting contest at Ropecon 2015 (local gaming convention).

ImageImage
Wu Ming need a bit more work. Shading is mostly done, but guns, synth muscles, details, etc. are all unpainted atm. Airbrushing left them a bit "spatter", don't know if I can fix that now. Maybe highlighting and details will diminish it. Once I get the Wu Ming painted, I'll have a fully painted ISS force ready. Only thing I'm missing from the ISS troop selection is a Su-Jian.
They'll join my shelves with Bakunin as a 100% complete sectorial army.

Ouch. That splattering on the Wu Ming looks a little unsalvageable to me... Might be better to strip and try again.

I dunno man, I think I can still rescue them. The splattering is not visible to the naked eye, unless you bring the mini right up to your nose.

Though I wasn't able to finish the Gecko like I though (I should never set deadlines...), I did manage to get some progress on it. It's almost finished:

Very nice Gecko, lovely job. I reckon the spattering on the Wu Ming gives a nice tonal / texture variation anyway
