What size is that ball?
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

Ping pong ball would mean he was using modelling pastes, not paint. :v:

6mm... so just slightly bigger than miniature heads.

 Ah. All mine have biodegraded by now.

I should buy a few boxes of pingpong balls to use as dummy sensor contacts for my subwars game. Gotta have lots of false targets out there to properly model the paranoia of submarine hunting!

Hey guys,

Here and there I'm bumping into a question of how to properly undercoat the miniatures. Each time a lot of painters provide a reply to that question - each in accordance to his own tastes, techniques and experience. I've just figured out, that instead of writing a comprehensive answers, each time I'm asked about the undercoat - I can just link a Tutorial. I'm pretty sure that all of you are already undercoating your miniatures properly, still it is a new content so I will share it here (and there's also a video!) :)

TUTORIAL: SPRAY UNDERCOAT

I also have some Work in Progress pics of what I'm currently working on. I've re-developed my colour scheme for Aleph (mostly due to a delivery of over 80 Vallejo AIR Paints). So here's what I got for now (and over 20 miniatures still to go).

Hey guys - are you ready to get 'Massacre'd? Here's my Senor Massacre conversion - based on a sweet, new Spektr Minelayer miniature.

Image
At first it was supposed to look more like Deadpool - but once the initial posing was done I changed my mind and went for some strange, futuristic Indian warrior with Katana blades - whatever :) Predator FTW.
Image
And to keep the topic a bit more colourfull - some more Aleph Work in Progress pics.

The customer - my best friend - was kind off sceptic about too much black/grey on the Myrmidor heroes - we'll see what he says once he's here, at my place, and sees them in real life. May be that they will be turned 'white' but I do hope that all that black/grey work won't be in vain :)

That color scheme is really cool, will have to use it for something. And soon will have to get the Myrm Hacker, haven't gotten her as i don't play the Phalanx but that mini is worth getting the whole box.

Senor Massacre is finally done (and photographed). I went wild with that one - spilling blood all over his helmet, ches armour, shoulder pads and actually all over his dynamicly posed body. He will strike fear in my opponents - that's for sure :)

The blood effects are tastefully done! How did you go about them? Did you try to use any specialty paint or did you homebrew your own concoction?

Thanks mate. I used to prepare my own 'blood effect' but at some point GW released 'Blood for the Blood God' and from then on - I just use this awesome paint. The procedure is easy - first some main splashes of blood - usually the longest ones, made rapidly. Then some smaller ones around, but with the same starting point. In the end some small dots of paint around the splashes - and that's all.

This particular miniature is rather special when it comes to blood - I wanted it to look savage, like a human ram bursting through a carcass that was cut in half mearly seconds before... something themed 'Massacre' :)

I've got that same paint and have just started using it. Still getting the hang of how it's meant to be used.

Hopefully it can come out looking even halfway like yours.

:) It's not so difficult - for starters try painting with more paint at first, than when it dries out - mix some water (but not much) and add another - more transparent layer around. It will make a more 3d effect.

The best thing is that some players at Facebook commented that the blood looks really bad - and some commented the exact opposite - so this is clearly a matter of taste :)

When checking out blood paint and/or blood effects i always use the finger test: Take a drop of the thing in your finger and ask yourself: Does it look like i'm actually bleeding there? If it does, it passes the test.
The Blood for the Blood God technical passes the test with flying colors, as do some others i have tested , but most certainly not all. The also very used Tamiya Clear Red passes when darkened a bit (usually mixed with a tiny amount of black, add UHU glue for awesome gore effects, gotta try it with the Citadel one), while the Vallejo Special Effect Fresh Blood doesn't (too brown in my opinion), although i like their Dried Blood one (perfect for scars and the like).
It's certainly a matter of taste, but this test takes some of the guesswork in a virtually instantaneous way.

New article: "THE COLONY" SPECIAL PROJECT part two is now available on my website.

Now I work with some of my older terrains, painting them in preparation for 'part four' and still await some vital pieces to complete the buildings (that would do for part three mainly).

In addition to Terrain Making - I have just finished a big Infinity commisssion - of ALEPH - for my friend. The Gallery should be published in few days - but right now I can provide a Sneap Peek :)

Well - USA is huge - I wander if some companies actually import such things or are you sentenced to use US made only... all in all - if purchased in Poland these are around 2$ for a bottle and weight around 0,4kg each.

Now i really wanna replicate that, pretty sure we don't have that brand here in Spain but will look. Also i keep thinking about painting all the "city" bits in pure black then paint all their edges with a fluo color (with white underneat because those paints don't really look well over anything but white), either green to strongly contrast with the pink or magenta so that it really looks like part of the console, not sure which, but i wonder if it'd look good and if it'd be worth the extra effort...

The dome will change all the colours undernath so I propose to keep it black and edged with pure white.
