After two layers of paint and some wash between. Waiting for metallics, some highlights, some freehand and MAYBE battle damage.

Hello there,

Is it possible to participate with an already finished miniature if both clear miniature and WIP pictures are available and there are proofs of when these were taken? (for example published on facebook at certain dates) ? Recently i just finished a miniature which would certainly be a nice addition to this campaign. It took couple of days to paint (as allways) and i have WIP pictures along with finished miniature. Can i participate?

Best regards,

Hello everybody, I am new to the game, and to this forum. I am hoping to learn some new stuff about the factions I play. When I saw the contest for this season though I got really excited. Now I have a great reason to paint this guy. Here is my Ariadna Tank Hunter with his Portable Auto Cannon! This is one of my favorite models in the Ariadna faction and I'm excited to put some paint on it and see when everyone thinks.

Welcome to the 'Sphere and to Infinity! What all factions do you play? The Autocannon is a fantastic piece to paint and play. It's also one of my favorite models in Ariadna and is part of the whole reason I have an Ariadnan force, at all! Best of luck and welcome again!

This is a bit tricky, is the "before" date within the time period of the campaign? (so far, this month). If it is, I'd say that's alright. You can enter as long as the "before" picture is dated on or after October 1, 2015. If you do so, please do post WIP pictures, as well, since you have them! Feel free to post here or PM me if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the answer. I have checked out all the pictures and time of their publishing in the web. Actually i have started the miniature 30th at around 10.00 am CET and painted throughout the night. I don't think this counts and don't mind if it does not. Don't want to cheat switching the date in the picture. I will still post few pics here just to share this piece as it took a lot of effort to create.

So here are some pictures of 'LONE SENTRY', a project started 30th October late night as I felt an impulse after visiting Fantasygames Painting Studio on a one day practice with C'tan (to whom i send my many thanks!). I used this fantastic tutorial to paint Armour (it is in Polish still you can see the pictures - it's worth it!). Whole work took around three nights ( i usually paint between 10 pm and 05 am) so it's easy to say it took 24hrs to complete.

Day one:

Day two:

Day three:

(Just open the picture in another window and zoom in to see close-up)

I hope you like it and if so - here's the Miniature at CoolMiniOrNot.

As for the entry - I have another miniature and some cool idea for it in mind but due to removal and commission painting all day long - I may have difficulties in finding some time to start painting this month. All in all - i will try. Here's the picture:

Image

And here's my basic idea for the miniature (looks like if made by 3 years old kid):

Image

The basic idea is that i just love Bikes in Infinity. Always wanted Nomad's to have atleast one Biked unit just for the fun of painting it. As Nomad's are a no-bike faction i figurek out to make my onw. I wanted to convert the raider out of Grenzer as it has 'the pose' and is a fantastic miniature in itself. Theme for the miniature is a 'lone raider'. Setup will be a piece of desert with broken road signs and some small pieces of industry - like an entry to a big city which was destroyed and swallowed by desert sand years before this scene takes place. Maybe (just maybe) i will also try to put some Object Source Light on the miniature but i don't feel strong enough to try out this technique on a such grand scale. I'm a bit concerned if it will work fine. I also plan to use some Vallejo paints for this project as till now my experience in this matter is very limited. I got some cool tips from Fantasygames Painting Studio and will try them out now.

Please keep your fingers crossed for the project - will try to move both ground and heaven to find some time and achieve the end result before the timer for this campaign runs out.

Best regards!

Yeah, unfortunately, the 30th is too early. As well, the first image you posted is just a little too far into the painting process for the Nisse to be counted.

That said, your bike riding Grenzer will certainly count! Best of luck with the project! If you'd like any advice for any of those techniques or products, let us know! We've got plenty of painters that peruse the 'Sphere and some of them could help you out.

I wrote that i post only couple of pics for the Lone Sentry as it won't be aprooved. I skipped the 'clear model' pic just to make clear that I understand the rules ;)

Thanks for the offer of advice. I will probably ask some questions when in mid-painting.

For now I have only one: Can you please list Red tone paints comparable in shade and tone to these blue ones?
Sky Blue
Light Sea Blue
Mediterranean Blue
French Blue
Steel Blue

MittenNinja - nice work. I recommend that you clear the lower part of the base as there's a mold. Otherwise nice initial paintjob and strong gray/white colour.

Now my turn. I know it's not much but at least i was able to start before i will be forced to pack all my stuff and swap cities. I have assembled my Nomad Biker and glued some pieces together. Making some Greenstuff adjustments was a necessity as otherwise i would've been unable to use 'coat' bitz on the miniature.

Image
Image

I used these bitz to make this conversion:
- Penthesilea Amazon Biker bike,
- Nomad Grenzer body and both hands, coat,
- Nomad Spektr left hand (shoulder to elbow part),
- Nomad Jagguar with shotgun right hand (palm and shotgun's handle),
- A random antennae from Pan'O drone,
These bitz look like if they were made to create a set. Grenzer is literally posed for the bike 'on standby' and Spektr's hands and torso look similar to Grenzer's ones. So up to this moment it is a rather simple conversion still i'm happy i finally made it as i was thinking about this project for some time now. I used this campaign to ultimately decide which weapond should the biker use - i couldn't decide till now. First benefits of being inspired by a competition.

I will prepare a scenic base before i move forward with paintjob so it will take some time before a proper WIP will be published.

Greatwork, everyone!

I'm liking that Green shade, harvest!

White can be tricky, Mitten, don't lose the good shading you've got there!

Nazroth, by all means, feel free to share the whole process (including the base) if you'd like and are not too inconvenienced by doing so! The varied use of bits and kitbashing is a neat approach.

This miniature look very nice still if I can give you any advice - you might consider basing this miniature on a base which will create more contrast to used colour scheme. Fore example bright desert yellow, or brown with some lustful greenery, maybe volcanic lava - it will point out the model instead of being so mono coloured. Here are some concepts:

I can provide colour schemes and techniques for any of these if you would like to try one out.

Well, compared to other participants, don't expect much. From what I see, my models are OK for a tabletop paintjob - not showroom pieces.
I don't fret about it, because, after all, mine are exactly that - tabletop gaming pieces. They have to be identifiable, plus it is a bonus if you can look at them and it doesn't make your eyes hurt ;) but they are not and never will be the thumb-sized masterpieces I keep seeing on the forums.
And I have my fingers in too many pies anyway.

Well, as for my Sekban HRL, I think I might be able to post pics this week. I applied the main wash today in the morning, then it is the other wash, a few extra details and painting the base. With the AP Rifleman a step behind that, and Chain Colt Sekban done before, I guess I'll be having my standard Haris layout ready soon.

The other project, well, I'm still waiting for parts. And since I need to finish this batch, and the I've planned a break for Corregidor, I guess I might not get it done in time.

Haha, no one is banned unless they break forum rules. :P

If the camera automatically time-stamps photos with a visible time-stamp, that's fine. For the sake of openness, I don't allow the file-type date created or other embedded data for time-stamps.

Found a few mould lines I had missed (I would pay good money for mould line-less figs), as well as some spots the primer had missed. After removing said mould lines, I'm stripping the mini and will re-prime him later tonight.

The bright blue is off-setting and detracts from the overall composition, I think. You already have plenty of good complementary contrast from the red/blue, so getting a neutral tone (such as white, grey, black) would be good.

Also, I think you could use some touchups on the edge of the cross on the tabard. Right now, the edges are very messy.

Thanks mate and do not worry - first of all I'm in a middle of commission painting since not so long ago I left my job and started to paint miniatures for living. There's plenty work for me and the fact that I have just switched a place of living adds top the toll of my permanent lack of time. Secondly I have never, ever won any online contest nor campaign or anything like it. This being said I am pretty certain that there's a big chance You won't have to worry about me being Your competition. Just look where my project is right now:

Image

Yesterday I've managed to set up new rokbench. You can take a look HERE if you want. Today I'm knee deep in an awesome commission for a friend and as the miniatures are being undercoated I had some little time off. So I've picked a pedestal for the miniature (It is a candle! Looks like a marble - totally awesome. Will have to pin the PCV base to it cause it won't stick with glue). Started to make some sign post scaffolding. Still wander about how to place the miniature and what king of setting to choose. Post-apo ruined city, a desert, ash wastes. Should I try and paint a night-scene with some major light sources? Never done that before...
